Other factions can dominate Homeworlds as normal, I think. They just don't get a reward on control. That said, to do so would be some serious Moral Event Horizon, Ender's Game level shit. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

[MOC] Octan fuel station and Milliways diner
Dannylonglegs replied to Cecilie's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Yeah, this is phenomenal! Very well detailed, and very smooth! Pleasant to look at! The photo editing is spectacular as well! (And of course, it goes without saying that Octan's presence improves any build! ) I love the stylish lettering on the floating billboard for the diner! Very futuroma! And the door is great! Everything is awesome! ~Insectoid Aristocrat -

[M-F02] Meeting A New Friend On Lesser Dringo
Dannylonglegs replied to Lady K's topic in AG1 Archive
OK, wow. This is absolutely stunning, Lady K! The lab is MASSIVE! And everything is so clean! Despite the size, you've managed to keep the wall interesting throughout with little touches of greeblage! Superb details, and wonderful machinery! I think my favorite details are the steep stairs and the fan, but the "Alien Artifact" analysis machine is great as well! And the story is great! I really enjoyed collaborating with you this week, and you managed to capture Dr. Long excellently! She's not happy with F02 at all. Loved hearing a bit of Lady Kianna's personality too! Yes please! All these obsolete robots are highly inefficient. Thornax from Bionicle's last arc: Glatorians. ~Insectoid Aristocrat- 19 replies

MANTIS has been known to pirate cool robots and machinery and equipment and then repaint it... It's almost an MO of theirs at this point! You can tell MANTIS has been around when your robots go missing and your equipment's been pirated. Great builds! Very swooshy! And the asteroids make it wonderful! I love the photo-editing too! ~Insectoid Aristocrat

I think it comes down to preference. Dr. Long read it on her Holo-pad. that said, we do still use actual paper for our paperwork.... wierd, huh? Lovely build Kai! That colour scheme looks even better than I envisioned it! Love how you pulled it off too! It works perfectly! Very alien, but very pretty! Also the library's a hoot! the vehicle is really nice! It serves its purpose excellently! ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Thanks! Yeah, there are more pictures of that on my Flickr (or my phone if I forgot to upload them. ) Lady Kianna is pretty decent with a bike! Glad you liked the speakeasy! It was inspired by a visit to an old speakeasy not to long ago. I'm adding more pics of the ship to the original post now. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

I bought a plain white posterboard! Glad you think my photography is better this time. Thanks! A snot layer may work very well! I'll try that next time I make a cliff like this. Up until recently I haven't experimenTed with my rockwork too much. That's changing. Since rocks are such a common feature in scenery Mocs I'll certainly get a chance to try that out soon. Glad you like the bar! I'll probably upload better pictures when I get home from class. I was trying out a light set up inside since I lost the daylight. I thought Henry might find himself in the local speakeasy. Octan's regulations seem to drive many to drink. I wasn't quite sure how Henry would react to Dr. Nai's sob story, so I gave him rather minimal dialogue. Thanks! Her near encounter with a trained mercenary (the mysterious Lady from the desert) has inspired her to allocate more of her resources to defence... well see how that all plays out... ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Love the Mech! Very brutal! Octan company policy stipulates we are not obligated to pay ransom for remains. We will alert your next of kin, if you have filled out your next of kin files, and submitted your notification forms. ~Dr. Long

Vote: Danr the Dragonslayer for being a pathetic lurker and being too busy with real life and another game to play the game of life he loves so much. Oh wait... that's me. I guess that sets a bad precedent. Maybe I'd better just get my priorities together and manage my time better instead. Unvote: Danr the Dragonslayer Ok, on to more serious issues. I'm no longer very suspicious of Crane... Not enough to vote for him, certainly. The events of today lead me to conclude that another lynch would be more prudent. As to whom, I'll get into that now. As Pudding Head noted: Jarl anonamously accessed the thread. This, among other reasons, makes my choice rather clear. Vote: Jarl Name-Looser (Jluck) I did tell you not to hold your breath... glad you didn't. That'd be unfortunate... Well, I did get a chance to review day 1 a few times, but nothing struck me in particular. I also seriously haven't put enough time into this yet. My list of suspects and "not suspects" is rather skeletal. I do wonder why you're the only one who's said anything about my inactivity though. Has no one noticed? Maybe I haven't even posted enough to register as even being part of the game. : Finally, a genital joke. Oh wait... Holy shit! Jluck claimed scum? Well that's really good! Now I get a chance to look things over before he's announced tomorrow!! -
A sonic boom broke the silence of the dry canyon. A truck-sized black and green object hurdled meteorically from the sky. No one observed the controlled fall of the vessel, however, due to the remote location it chose upon which to descend. Lesser Drigo was an arid planet. The days were dry and hot, and the nights were dry and cold. Not many cared to travel the deserts and canyons, when there were air-conditioned Octan facilities in which to reside... Which turned out to be perfect for the agents of M.A.N.T.I.S, who made their homeworld on a vicious volcanic planet to start with. Not much fazed an agent of M.A.N.T.I.S. not even a border-line free-fall from orbit in the back of the crammed canister of a Dropship designed exclusively for returning to space. Nor would the drop from the cannister to the planet on the back of a dune-bike bother a M.A.N.T.I.S. soldier. The bright green canister of the dropship shone fiercely in the harsh sun, as it finally descended to non-lethal dropping distance. It's massive engines were engaged at lowest setting, which was enough to break its fall and get it set to blast back up. This technique led to it being named the "Hopper" it was either that, or MANTIS liked naming their ships after bugs. When the canister's ramp opened, the lone figure who had been jammed inside, atop a lime green painted bike (no subtly necessary) fell out, and hit the ground rolling. No time to waste. The mission was what mattered. Lady Kianna looked up to see the thrusters of the Hopper at full blaze as it climbed--increasingly quickly--back into space. No retrieval until the mission was successful. The drop point had been chosen for its isolation, but as the MANTIS agent rode further towards her objective, she found out that she was not alone. Octan really was everywhere... although the perimeter guard before her didn't look like he was paying sufficient attention.... time to test out that new tool Sal gave her.... Guard: "Ok, baby, so... What are you wearing?" Lady Kianna: "Time to test out Sal's new tranquilizer. He said it should cause temporary paralysis, unconsciousness, and 'some other fun stuff.' Hope this kid doesn't mutate." *Thunk* Lady Kianna: "Sweet dreams..." "Oh, of course. This is Octan: The robots do all the work! Better make sure to disable it before it gives away my presence..." "Only got one shot at this..." "Now... To get that artifact..." -----Meanwhile, in a Secret Octan Speakeasy directly beneath the primary Laundry facilities----- Dr. Ben Nai: "Sacked!... Kapoot! Finito! After all my hard work bringing this shtation up from the foundations! And now, just because some damned MANTISh shaboteurs attacked, Dr. Long think'sh I'm to blame for all this facilities problemsh!" Henry: "That's rough, buddy." Dr. Nai: "And you know what? I NEVeR wanted thish shtuffy desk-job. I wanted to be an operatic shinger! Ah, who am I kidding. Once Dr. Long shpeaksh to the board of directors I'm done for. Already She'sh begun replacing me. She brought her own shecurity guards down with her from the Axle. Well, fine! I told my guardsh to take the week off! That'll teach her! Henry: "Are you saying that no one's guarding the base?" Dr. Nai: "What do I care. It'sh Dr. Long's bashe now!" "Did someone say Dr. Long?" ------Much Later------ //"Log date, 374. This is Dr. Danielle Long reporting from F02 water filtration facility Alpha. Too much incompetence to list in my briefing. Corporate must be informed of these setbacks... One incident happened right under my nose, too. Very... Frustrating. As a result, I've decided to move forward one of our previously low-priority projects. Dr. Chekhov's Gauntlets. End log for now. This is Dr. Long, signing off."// Worker: "Oof, Dr. Long... Why did you call me down so late at night!?" Dr. Long: "It's midday on Farmolis Headquarters City." Worker: "Yeah, but... Their days aren't even remotely comparable to Drigo's days." Dr. Long: "Octan regulations require each Official facility maintain a selection of personnel who work on HQ time. I noticed that this regulation was not being followed, so I volunteered you to be the first of many to keep HQ time here. Worker: "Boy... I need some coffee... Is that why you called me down here?" Dr. Long: "Not exclusively. I need you to do an inventory of our scientific projects. I fear that after events I almost witnessed, that perhaps other scientific projects of our may be compromised. Also, I want you to pull the Top-Secret file on the Checkhov Gauntlets. I've granted you Medium-High security access. Bring that to me before you begin inventorying.... And get me a coffee. Black. No cream. No sugar. We have a long day ahead of us." Worker: "Long indeed." ------------ź The ship: Profile I went for a bit of a Metroid vibe for the cockpit. I tried to make it look angry. removable cannister Proof that she fits. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Ragnarök Now 3: Day Two
Dannylonglegs replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Hehehe, don't do that. It would be mighty embarrassing to die of asphyxiation in the next few minutes, while it may take me a full "third of a day" to fully review yesterday's events. Asphyxiation is a cowardly way to die! Much better to die in pitched combat! Preferably against Loki-worshipers or Fierce Dragons! -

Dannylonglegs replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Alright, I too have to go over yesterday's events with a much closer lens. I've been rather busy, so hopefully I can get some good insight by reviewing the previous day. As it stands, I still suspect Cranebrienne. As for Pat, sad to see him go! I was looking forward to another game of life with him. Not surprised about Brand, although I was hopeful that his "giving up" at the end of Day 1 was a sign that he was a scum. I will say I'm a bit surprised about Lamby. Only because I had no good read on her yet. good job, vig! (or SK) -

Ragnarök Now 3: Day One
Dannylonglegs replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Oh, Thor's Thundering Trousers! I avoid this thread to deal with other stuff for one day.... 11 pages. I never meant to be a lurker. Also, where are the damn dick jokes? Or do those typically come later. I'm so confused. Ok, all, sorry for the wall of Text! I know that feel, man. That's a stretch. Oh wait... Someone agrees with me. Then a lot of people did. And then that seemed to go no where. Forget the mixing up of Serial Killer and Vig, the reading into a fluff comment is what really 'pings' me. maybe this is just a Noob move, though... Or maybe a noob scum move? Hard to ever tell the difference. I did last game... In the form of Hannibal quotes! The murdered part. Obviously. I can confirm that Tarben was bored. Or at least that I was being boring. You mean like us? So what we have is special? Nope. No reactions. None. You got pretty defensive there. Wow, you do like digging holes a lot for a fire giant... sure you're not an earth giant instead? As far as I'm concerned, you're either scum who couldn't keep a straight story (and probably pissing off your scum team), or a townie who hasn't quite gotten the hang of the game. No offence intended, of course. That is a damn good point. I'm inclined to believe this. I don't know much about her personally, but I know that I wouldn't make such an obvious slip up if I was playing scum. Particularly a first timer too. My first time I got so nervous I threw up. Just ask anyone involved. It really happened. Yeah, especially considering that Tarben would understand that a scum viewing that comment would only laugh at its inaccuracy. Not that Brand likely thought that far. True. Very true. But also that may not be true. It is debatable, the truth in this statement. Could be false. But it could be true. ping This does kind of ping for me. What Townie in his/her/their right mind accepts someone as a Townie that easily? I'd say damn near everything that's happened "Today" has been hasty, but that's how all Day 1s are. And then there was like 2 additional pages of conversation that I did not directly quote. Ok, wow. That was a lot, and it looks like I've actually been away for 2 days, and not the 1 I originally thought it was. So, I personally doubt Mist's "slipup" was a freudian slip. I guess you can chalk that up to gut, but I just don't see it. Her comments haven't exactly been useful though, but who am I to judge that on a day like this. Brand will die regardless of where I cast my own vote, but let me just say that his silence is really confirming the suspicions for me. I'm going to vote: Cranebeinn the Redder (Chromeknight). Apologizing for suspicions is suspicious. Saying you'll accept someone as town on day 1 is a major ping. -
Yeah, I think the lighting inconsistencies are my biggest issue at the moment, especially when the entire title of the MoC is based on a soda ow I failed to create in the second picture. Some of the graininess is because I zoomed in on a dark picture. I'll try to put more work into editing the pictures once I take them. I think what I did for "The Derelict" would be replicatable on a regular basis. I just need to work on getting my pictures before night time. That title. so true! ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Thank you. That's generous! I was expecting less. Thanks! That means a lot coming from you! Thanks! It seems that was a huge (or, more accurately, very small) hit! Thank you! Yeah, she's not what you'd call a people's person... Who let her get into a position of power in the first place? I hear you. I've been relying entirely on the weather being amenable to photography outside, but in some cases (this week, and last week), I've had to take crappy photos inside, or in dark outside conditions. The background is 2 grey folders. I'll try a white paper. For bigger MoCs, I use a white shirt. Does anyone know of any tutorials for super-duper cheap lighting advice? Thanks! The stories are my favorite part, too! I didn't think I'd be making so many of them, but now they almost overshadow the builds. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

AG - Introduction and Discussion
Dannylonglegs replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in Andromeda's Gates
Ok! Just want to make sure it was intentional, and not an error. I got rushed at the end, and needed to finish to catch the last of the natural light, and I didn't make a big enough backdrop to feature it more prominently. I'll make sure to amend that for future weeks. ~Insectoid Aristocrat -

Also hate to be a bother, but is that the reason my Land vehicle from "Shadow over Drigo" was not counted as such? It said I got 6 DP on the timeline, but if that was taken into account, that would have been 7. I understand, though if you don't think it counts as it was not important to the build, or featured in a proper way. Thanks! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
