  1. Ooc: Same question, and also, while I hate to seem rude to BricksandParts, who's grandmom is likely still in the hospital, I am slightly inclined to see the quest put to rest if he doesn't come back.
  2. Can I sign up even though I've already passed two mafia schools? And played several other games? This looks like it'll be a fun game to watch, and, while I'm not the first to say it, that hair piece looks awesome! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  3. Actually, It'd be more strategic if I targeted the spirit with my Nurture.
  4. Oh my, That's awful. I'm really sorry to hear that. I'll repeat my action when you get back.
  5. Well, yes. The point is that these sets would be exactly what I wanted! To what alien spider walker are you refering? I thought that and the tank with the lazer and pod were one and the same. There's an ADU jet set right next to the tank which seems partially cut off. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  6. I know. It's just that Lego basically answered my only two gripes with the original line up: The only thing I thought was lacking one either side was a heavy, offensive ship for the aliens (not the Tripod because it was somewhat light and could detatch from it's guns, and not the abductor because it had no "weapons" to speak of (for the most part, big weapons weren't even present in the mothership). Both were perfect as they were and I wouldn't change anything about them but the Aliens lacked real "muscle".) And a cheap, medium/small jet/flying-vehicle for the ADU (their smallest flying ship came in the largest set, which I still don't have (it also came with the smallest saucer), and the only other flying ADU vehicle was the Jetcoptor, which was their flying muscle.) These two sets would complete the theme perfectly. I too am going to consider them cancelled, but I'd love to see better picks of them nonetheless. Does it look like the one with the ADU flyer would come along with a small saucer like the one in the ADU Mobile Base? ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  7. It's obviously a Hitler-esque Brain-stache. I love that figure! I can't say how much I want to see those two prelims released, or at least a little closer! That Alien-tank-like one especially! Please Lego! That ADU plane thing would be amazing too! They really needed a cheaper plane! These two sets are honestly, the perfect continuation of a near perfect theme. It would be a shame for them not to get released. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  8. Am I dead? Did I fall off of my chair, hit the tile behind me and have my brain spill out over the floor? Is this Heaven? Well? Assuming that didn't happen and my thoughts will not get lost in the ether, here they are. There's not one in this line-up I don't need more than water. I'll start my list with the figs I only plan on getting one of (ie. the ones I'm least impressed with in terms of theme) Santa: I did not expect them to make a new hat for him, but I'm glad they did, because It's about freaking time! Also, The sack works great too! He's not on the top of my favorites list, but I need him nonetheless. Cowgirl: Well, Howdy! She's a great cowgirl, and I love the lasso! Football Player: I'm not a huge fan of American Football, but I can't resist buying this one! It's gorgeous, and is that a new trophy piece I spy? Cheer Leader: B-E-A-Utiful! She's great on her own, and a wonerful Foil to the first one, who I still need very much. Not all Cheer-Leaders are blonde! Purple Skier: Wow, what were they smoking when they made the skier that colour? The fumes of a burning barbie doll house? But honestly, She's great and I need her. Her and her pretty Skis and lack of protective or insulated head gear. Disk Jockey: They did it this time! Marvelous! I love the new hair piece! and the disk, and the album. I'm iffy on the shirt because I can't really see it well. Trader: I'll tell you, I was not expecting a 1920's stock trader, complete with bowler hat and newspaper. The only thing that would make him and his funny mustachioed face better would be a lego-cigar. Of course, we all know they's never do it, but for a brief shining second, I swore I saw one in his hand. Now the ones I really, really love: Bavarian Boy: Well, it's about time that the Danish company pushed out a pretzel (with butter ). There is nothing at all bad about this figure. I'd buy more than one if I had any use for more than one bavarian. Although, I may just have to come up with one... Fairie: So cute! I needs it! I'll get it "for my sister" so that I get brownie points as well as the fig! Evil Robot: Holy crap! So Cool! I can't wait to see the face, and that logo, but I don't even need to to say that I'm in love. Pirate: I'm not the hugest fan of Pirates, but this one's golden... Literally! He reminds me of the previous rapper fig, with the gold on his hat. Diver: The long legs? That new helmet? I need 20! It's amazing! Conquistador: Lovely! The colours, the gold, It's amazing. It'll be a great fight between this guy and the Aztec! Ancient Thespis: It's not as ancient as I would have expected.... And I'm really really pleased. I need this figure and it's gorgeous ruff, legs and torso. It's so needed! Female Alien: Yes! Whoever said they had that "unhealthy love" for this fig is going to have to fight me for her! I loved Alien Conquest, and I adore this figure! Finally, a cheap way to get that head piece. 100 of them. The dress piece is beautiful, the chest piece is wonderful, the cape is magnificent... And that head... . I will say though, I always thought that the aliens had pink "brainy stuff" for hair, so with that considered, she could be Alien Hitler... That brian piece is amazing in that colour too! All in all, I need so many of this fig. The Vampire: My new Sigfig. Just saying. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  9. Technically, I won. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  10. That is All Right. Still, can I nurture the ghost?
  11. Yes! I died! Stay vigilant Town, and hopefully you can pull through so that we can win! I'd love to win another game. Thank you Bob for letting me play! I had a great time, and I'm glad you liked the Poetry. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  12. "Crap. I can't see. Good thing nurturing isn't a physical attack. (Correct me if I'm wrong) I Nurture Ghost B."
  13. Well this is unexpected, but awesome news! I would love to see some new ice themed sets! As for the actual subject matter of the theme, I could see it transpiring in three ways: 1. An early 1900s, late 1800s Polar expedition, in the likeness of PQ. I would love to see this, but I find it unlikely considering we already have the semi-steampunk styled Monster Fighters. They could fight Yetis or "ice-warriors" or ice-trolls or something. I would love to see a return of a team of adventurers versus a rival team, but we all know that won't happen. This would be my preference. It would have polar bears, and if we're lucky ducks, wolves. Maybe there'd be a big ice-breaker as the somewhat-literal flagship of the theme. A dog-sled. A tent basecamp. Maybe an igloo. Maybe a smaller boat. They could maybe be exploring hidden ruins in the ice, from which the Yetis or Ice-people emerge. Then we'd get some ice-ruin sets. 2. A modern or very-slightly futuristic aproach with modern basecamps and vehicles. Perhaps some really heavy ice crawler vehicle too. Sort of like the Power Miners meet the Arctic expedition folk. They would be looking for some mcguffins and fighting ice-trolls or aliens or something. This is what I think will be most likely happen, and while it'd contain polar bears and other fun things, I'd prefer it the least. 3. An Ice Planet style theme. I would love this, but I think it's most unlikely, as the title is Polar not Ice, or Frigid, or Ice-Planet Expedition. This would be definitely futuristic, and set on another planet. There would be enemy 'invading' aliens or something to fight off, as well as mcguffins to collect. Such a theme would also not have polar bears. Just my thoughts. Needless to say I highly anticipate this theme. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  14. "I Nurture Ghost C. Die once more you insult to nature!" Reason for edit: I reread the rules, healing does work!
  15. "Because, you're still alive... To some extent. Let's go find some Fog and get gone. I'm sick of this place already."
  16. "Huh, that'd be odd. Well, I can tell you one thing, this world has very little connection to Mother Earth that I can feel easily. My powers are strained here, and I don't like the feeling."
  17. Crap, I just finshed writing and hit the back button! Let's try this again. Thank you for your well-thought out accusation. It's much easier, and more fulfilling to respond to logic as opposed to "his actions have been 'scum-tells.'" (Doc ) Granted. The point I was making, though, or at least the point I was trying to make, is that I hate needing to rely on my intellect and words to avoid being thrown to the wolves! I'd much rather prefer my actions say Townie than simply my words, because as you yourself note, even a Scum can contrive a convincing argument. I simply don't trust myself enough to allow myself to get into my current situation, which is why, if I had a team of scum to consult with, I wouldn't likely be here now. You know I'm a team player! I spoke more in the scum thread than even Flipz did. I constantly asked for aproval or at least informed the team of my actions before hand, and I would have consulted them before casting my re-vote, let alone my unvote! And do you honestly think no one in the scum thread would have stopped me? Well, thanks for the vote of confidence, but that's not the argument I'm using. I certainly hope I've been capable of responing to your arguments logically. In fact, I'm not sure why you even think I'm using that defence in the first place. I'm merely saying I'm not brave enough to put myself in the limelight like I did if I could have done anything else (which of course, I could have, had I not been so nonsensical in my actions and insecure in my argument, but more certainly I could have, if I had a team with whom I could confer.) Thanks again, but even as an Insecure Scum, which is what I was last game, I would have no reason to behave insecurely in the day thread. Every question I had came to you guys, which is why I maintained face so well during the simulation. I filled the scumboard with my observations, opinions, plans, and notifications of my actions, to which you guys often replied. An Insecure scum could easily act confident, as I did. Twice, I lead parts of the Town in an almost Lynch. Neither time did my incertainty show. I knew it was for our best. I agree, but they weren't scummy mistakes. I find it very hard to believe that a team of scum would let me behave as I did. Well, I was too. I was ligitimately confused and I made one mistake after another. I've learned that lesson now. I will say though, in my defence, there really is no particularly compelling reason for a scum to unvote. This is not a comment on your actions, but really, sticking to one's guns is a "clear Town-tell." On another subject, while I fully understand how bad my own position is, I think this 'everyone vote for Dakar' idea is a really bad one. There is no way his death will be useful to the Town, unless he really is a scum, which I doubt. Even as a Townie, my Lynch would be a better plan because at least then you'd have arguments and voting patterns to examine. As it is, the only argument against him is that he's a sheep and a noob, and quite frankly, that argument reeks of scum. His behaviors strongly remind me of his behavior from last game. The reason he was against Gordon is that he trusted me, and I told him my suspicions, which he took to head in the day thread.
  18. "Ok, good. Totally harmless portal. You know, sometimes portals are opened to right were a dragon's mouth is, or over an endless pit. Sometimes even over an endless pit filled with dragons. I'm glad this is not one of those. So, aside from Dead-Durkon picking up his equipment, I'd say we're good to go. I won't be much help healing you now Durkon, I think. Maybe one of our friends in possession of an amethyst could help you there?"
  19. Warning, wall of text: Of course everyone makes mistakes. I'm not saying that, scum or not, I am infallible. I made three big mistakes today. 1. My first mistake today was trying something new--taking the lead. Before playing scum, I behaved sheepishly and waited for others to make arguments with which I agreed. Upon connecting with a seemingly logical leader of the town, I'd mostly follow him and try to help as best I could. I used to do this because I do not have a very high opinion of my own ideas, and having never been scum, I didn't feel I had the experience to figure out the scum on my own. That changed when I connected with the wrong guy during the holo-vid Jedi Temple Mafia, and I vowed never to be so trusting again, especially of those who made themselves seem to be powerful Town leaders. That further changed now that I actually have been scum. I now know to some extent what actions a reasonable scum might make considering the current "scumtells" and the affects of working in a group. I picked up on Gordon's actions earlier in the day and convinced myself that they were scummy without thinking too hard about the possibility that I was just seeing what I wanted to see. Essentially I got a massive ego boost from playing scum (I now know how you feel regularly Tammo .) which was eventually corroded by self doubt. Allowing myself to put myself in such a confidence requiring position was a mistake because I'm not an egomaniac. I'm quite the opposite; I'm insecure, which is not a good quality for one trying to lead the Town to lynch a scum without a great argument. I overextended myself by Launching an attack without back-up on day one. I simply shouldn't have tried to help the town in that way if I wasn't sure I could follow though with it. 2. My second mistake was not following through with my first mistake. If I thought he was scum, I should have stood by that, even if I had self-doubts, even if I was standing alone. By dropping the attack A. I let Gordon's scummy behavior (as I still think it may be. Naturally, I'm not as sure anymore) slide by without anyone listening anymore because "the primary proponent of this argument no longer believes it", and B. I drew un-helpful attention to myself. Now both my argument is in question, and my loyalty, and that's only helpful to the scum. 3. My third and likely worst mistake was re-voting Gordon after I myself had been voted for. I did not respond well to the argument brought against me, and at that point, I had already lost the argument against Gordon, and reviving my attack without new points was useless. I'm not sure what I was thinking revoting him, but I was certainly thinking too fast for my own good, and not taking a step back to look at the situation objectively. That last sentence is the primary failure today. Had I just sat back and looked at the situation calmly, I might have realized how bad my ideas were. Yes, that is how I've been behaving, but that's how I am. Usually I don't make such a big scene of it because I don't try to take the lead, which is what I guess I was trying earlier today. That doesn't change the facts that a good scum wouldn't draw this much attention to himself! And, Reverse psychology is a very dangerous game to play, and one that I'm sure I wouldn't be able to pull off. That doesn't mean "a good scum would behave sheepishly," or, "A good scum would lie low," it just means a good scum wouldn't do anything so horrendously attention grabbing as what I did. The scum want positive attention, and unless their prospects are looking down, they're less likely to actually try the reverse phychology gambit because it's less likely to succeed. (Accept maybe you if you're bored with a plain game ) If anyone, you and Burbank should know that I'm not gutsy enough to try reverse psychology as a scum, unless we're really in a bind, and that this isn't reverse psychology. You're really over thinking my defense. I don't have the guts to rely on reverse psychology or trust my intellect! I don't even have the guts to stand alone by my guns in attempt to lynch a scum! Yes, it's semantics. Honestly, Starting a bandwagon is the objective of both the scum and the Town. No one can get lynched if there's not a majority of people ready to Lynch that person. The Town win the day if their bandwagon gets a scum, which the scum, of course, try to stop. The Scum win the day if either a Townie gets lynched or no one does. I was indeed, trying to find a scum, and form a bandwagon around said scum. No one else, it seemed to me, thought I was right however, and I began to question if I was right, so I dropped the case. I then brought it back up, because of my uncertainty, which would make no sense for a scum to do because even with the case dropped, I (hypothetically a scum) could have easily argued against the one person who voted for me, instead of making a huge scene and inviting several others to vote for me as well. Furthermore, in the current cannon "uncertainty" is thrown around as a huge "scum-tell". It would be incredibly stupid of me not to realize that as a scum, and even stupider to commit it. If I was scum, I'd win as long as I or anyone on my team was not lynched, so why even bother revoting? Why not just answer the argument and say something like, "I was pretty sure at first, but now I'm really not so sure, and I'd hate to off a townie because of my own tunnel-vision?" I could then fly below the radar for the rest of the day and glob onto any other big bandwagon and add, "I was suspicious of him/her earlier today, and the way he/she responded to my earlier argument made me even more suspicious of him/her." Yes they do. I agree with you 100%, but I disagree that my actions are saying scum. I'm not stupid, but I am, as you put it, insecure. I am of the opinion that if my actions are looked at logically they will say either Insecure Townie, or Stupid Scum, not Insecure Scum. Not to toot my own horn, but I don't think I play scum stupidly. It's not that I'm uncomfortable playing scum, I personally find it harder, and less rewarding to manipulate people as opposed to using logic, behavioral patterns, and knowledge to determine one's alignment. I'm better at the first than the latter it seems from my track-record, as the only game I've actually won (and the only in which I lived to the end) was when I played an ant-town role, and I thought I had a pretty good chance of making it to the end during the simulation too, or at least winning. (Until Flipz got that crazy idea. ) If you had payed much attention to my behavior during the simulation, which you didn't really have to as a scum, you'd have notice that I never once chickened out from the moves I made. I was even ready to back us all up when Flipz flipped! I'm not however, so bold when I don't have a team I can trust to back me up or advise me. Yep, that's what I did, but I'm not scum. I also have no doubts that at least one scum voted for me, maybe more, but certainly not all of them. A few likely folded their hands and tried to start another Lynch in case the one against me failed, perhaps even defending me to further differentiate themselves from those who voted against me. Also, I suspect someone who said "None of the arguments made yet are particularly compelling," or something to that effect, could be scum planning to vote at the end of the day to seem reluctant to vote for a case in which he or she did not particularly agree with: the case against a Townie. And you'd be right. This is not a calculated action! But that's the point of coordination! The scum are working in another board planning their actions, or at least discussing them. If I had a team, I doubt I'd be in this position right now! I'd have asked for advice if I felt self-conscious, and I wouldn't have re-voted or listened as much to the thoughts of those in this board, because I'd be listening to the thoughts of those in the other board! 1) I realize that now. Hindsight's 20-20. I really wouldn't have even come on so strongly against him if I had thought that I'd loose confidence in the vote like I did! At that point it was superficial as I had convinced myself I was wrong, and my heart wasn't in it. 2) You're certainly right about that! 3) You're wrong here. I have not been defending my actions at all! They were mistakes! And of course the logic I use is slightly in my favor, the logic you use is slightly twisted against my favor! 4) My sentiments--what you paid attention to in the scum board--were insecure. My actions--what everyone else saw--were anything but! I lead two almost lynches, one on "Flare" and the other on "Awesomestar," and never once did I back down. I chose the targets because public sentiment was not in their favor. 5) That didn't work out so well for us during the sim did it!? Free night my megablocks! Really though I agree with you here. Even though the simulation's not a great example in this circumstance, it's the exception to the rule. If we don't Lynch anyone, we'll be back where we started, arguing if I'm scummy or not, with no extra information to go on besides whatever metagame kill the scum make tonight. If it's for the best, I suppose you could Lynch me if you all think you can accurately determine who the scum are when I flip Townie. I haven't been a great help today, so you really wouldn't be losing anymore than the regular confusing townie on day one. I understand that it's nothing personal, I don't know how it could be. I'm a Townie, and this vote is misplaced. End Wall of text. Simply put, logical scum try to act like sensible Townies. Gutsy Scum draw attention to themselves and try to act like super townies. I play safely, and logically. I made several mistakes. None of them indicate that I am gutsy or anything but alone with no one to trust.
  20. Ok, that's fine, vote for me if you want, but if you're a Townie, you're making a mistake. I did screw up. Pretty badly, and moreso than I ever have before. However, I am not Scum, therefore, you should not Lynch me. Of course I don't decide when I screw up, which is what you were suggesting by saying my actions have been a gambit. However, while there're plenty of good reasons for a Townie to screw up, there's very little reason for a scum, with full access to a board of somewhat logical people with whom he can confer, to screw up. I'm not saying I wouldn't screw up if I was scum, but I certainly wouldn't have screwed up to this extent if I could run my actions by a group of people who I could trust.
  21. Logical enough, maybe. Gutsy enough to depend on my logic to save me after intentionally screwing up, becoming a huge target? No. You see, confidence is a huge factor in one's ability to pull off a gambit such as the one you suggest I'm attempting to pull off right now, and I like to play it safe. Take that for what you will. Call bull. That's fine, but I'm not lying. I would much rather not be on the chopping-block right now, but my uncertainty lead me astray, and I screwed up by dropping the Lynch on Gordon. To rectify that, I tried to re vote him. It's that simple, and now I realize that that too was a mistake because now people are finding my actions scummy, which is not helpful to the Town, because I myself am a Townie, and being on the chopping block means that others who should be on the chopping block are not. It's stupid, but not asinine in this case. I'm not intentionally causing confusion! I didn't think the move was ridiculous at the time, and now, I can see that it was a bad one! That's sort of what I thought you meant. You're suggesting that my actions have been in the pursuit of executing a gambit. Correct?
  22. No, it doesn't clear me. Nothing can fully "clear me" accept an investigation result, or my affiliation popping up as Loyal upon my death. No one on day one can be cleared. I can, however convince you all that I am not scum by explaining how un-scummy my actions have been. My defense stands. If you can't see how incredibly stupid and asinine I would have to be to act the way I did if I was scum, then that's your problem. You're not thinking logically.
  23. Sorry, this is the first time I've been so close to the chop block. Yes, I did describe exactly what I did. What I did would be a really really stupid move for a sane scumbag! Why would a sane scum re-vote someone without a new argument? It'd be suicide! Why would a sane scum drop a perfectly fine opportunity to Lynch someone? None of my moves would make sense if I was scum, and maybe it's not a great defense, but I'm not that stupid. And, even if you think I am, the collective thinking power of a team of scum certainly is not. Anyone who was scum last game knows I'm a team player. I would have asked the scum team if my moves were good ones or bad ones. There is no way a sane scum group would have thought my moves would advance their cause in any way. They wouldn't! My moves have been bad ones even for a Townie to make because right now, I'm causing confusion in the Town. Surely someone who voted for me is a confused townie. Probably more than one.
  24. I understand how odd my behavior has been, but your conclusion is wrong. As to your first sentence, I'm pretty confused by it. I just said in my previous posts what I would likely be doing if (and what I did do when) I was scum. A logical scum would go right through with the vote until it became a bandwagon and until the target was dead, and then, on day 2 say, "it was an accident, my target's actions convinced me he was scum." He wouldn't back down on the bandwagon because no one was following. That would be "super scummy." And, honestly, there would be no good reason not to. It's what I did on day one of the simulation. I didn't care that "Awesomestar" would likely not get lynched. He was town, but I had a pretty good argument, and, really, it wouldn't have mattered if he beat my argument--which he couldn't have, and I chose him for that reason--because if he did, then I could fall back to "gut". You see, people who make dynamic, confident moves are most always called Townies, while those who are uncertain look like they "just want to lynch anyone who's not scum." And usually, that's not really the case. I'm sure at least three of the more active players today are scum, because the scum know that activity makes you seem Townie. Often the activity that one reads as a "Towntell" is the activity of an active player, and the confusion spread by a "Scumtell" is frequently the confusion of a naive, or confused player.
