  1. Any new articulation added to some of these stiff-limbed sets is already a good thing. The only thing to worry about after that is the aesthetic flow of the parts used to do it, as well as their color. I know Lego's wing placement was awkward, but here it's even more so. Why are the wings there? To fly. Could this guy fly with the wings where they are? No, and he'd be in a constant state of conflicting air resistance every time he moved. In other words, wings go on the back. A good thing to do when mocing is to put yourself in the moc's place, imagining how you'd actually move with the joint configuration and what the appendages hanging off would actually do. When it comes to revamps of existing characters, a lot of people don't think "what makes this character this character?" In Kirop's case, his head, his eye color, his approximate size, those 2 particular hand weapons, his black body and dark gray feet/lower legs... and 2 wings on the back. Even though your moc has those bases covered it doesn't mean you have to stick to using those parts to do it. More accurately, you could build a black body out of ANY Lego parts you have, be it other Technic stuff or System. Same with the legs, as you've already started doing.
  2. To my dying day, I'll probably still want Hasbro to go in with Lego to get some kind of Transformers line going. I do see problems with that immediately though. Transformers often have bodies that can EASILY be done with Lego, BUT: --There's no Lego parts yet (Knights Kingdom was executed too shitty to mention) that resemble the blocky hands Transformers have. Every TF model would end up with the same darn fingers we've been observing in Exo-Force and Bionicle. They'd need to make those good old blocky hands, or at least redesign some cool new fingers (which preferably fit 5 digits to one hand). -Likewise, TF bodies are easy, but their heads are usually very small and detailed. How would heads work? It's a very important issue, as the face sculpts ARE some of the characters, their bodies be damned. I suppose they'd go the way of Hasbro's attempt at Lego-like Transformers in the "Built to Rule" line, with a detailed 2x2 head being included, though I'd HOPE they'd be more creative, making heads out of 3 separate parts... EXAMPLE, chin section 2 plates high, nose and eye section 1 to 2 plates high, then a signature forehead piece that would hopefully be sculpted and not just a flat, printed tile. If they did that, one could build any cool robot face they wanted even after that particular line went dead. The parts I described MIGHT sound too character-specific, but it's entirely possible to incorporate them into different uses in different sets, again, even after such a licensing deal went dead. Going back to space... what might be really cool would be a bunch of different crews trying to bring modules of a starbase or moonbase together... which of course all show in the instructions how to connect. From there, you could use, as Grevious suggested, space pirates (or even some kind of good space monster) as the reason that struggle exists.
  3. Are you sure about that? Often times fans get sets before website staff do. So the giant head is the top of the canister placed atop it, right? Are there any connectors on the underside? Looks like the only thing (personally) to be had from this set are maybe the mask and that's about it for me. (I'll grab 2 off Bricklink at some point). SHAME on Lego for not making the canister lid mask symmetrical. It just became nearly worthless for mocing, meaning it just shot down a reason some people would bother buying it at retail. I miss the good old days where I'd buy sets off the shelf partially because their packaging could be connected to as well. Oh well, thanks for the pics!
  4. My problem is the gimmicks. They afflict the Bionicle line and they did so in Mars Mission. It's that thing which brought about air tubes and put holes in the chest of aliens. Yeah, a space theme would be good. One where the bases are detailed, non-warfare and just plain damn interesting. A docking bay, be it a starbase housing individual cruiser ships or a lunar base, with a loading dock for piloted rovers and loading mechs... that's the way to go. I'm all for a good conflict here and there, but space just doesn't work well with it. Lego could have the "conflict" simply be in making sure the set designs seal up their housing units so the space crew doesn't asphyxiate. (As in, no "storefront" Hollywood prop type sets... actual, enclosed units that swing open). Space can be interesting without an interstellar war... I do wonder if Lego still has that touch to make it interesting without just making giant, hardly credible ships or "bad" guys.
  5. I'm not saying I never shared your frustration, but you have to put yourselves in their shoes too. They're not into Bionicle. And even though you spell out the name to them, it's still entirely possible they'll say it's what you're looking for when it's not. The packaging is not adult friendly, and it's even less friendly to some poor bastard whose life is passing them by while not getting paid a whole hell of a lot. Now the pimpley-faced dorks at fast food joints who never get my orders right.... oooooh hoho ho ho I want them to feel pain. They're endangering my caloric intake, my very health is at stake!
  6. There's medications for that. Just leave out "kill" parts, or they'll put you on stuff that'll have you drooling and wetting yourself. And that that point, you'll be lucky if they allow you to even have Duplo. Ah, so those were just mocs that kid tossed up. Oh well, it's good news anyway. Man... I so need to buy multiples of Mr. McBoneylegs.
  7. Good luck on this new site! I might jump on as things get bigger, but for now the entire internet has me spread very thin. I was happy with the 2 or 3 Lego fan sites I went to, then I discovered the hungry monster known as Flickr. Too much for my tiny brain and even tinier amount of "fun" time. (Boooooo on not admitting EVERY Lego theme ever into the fold, but as you get more members I'm sure that'll change). Good to see all the stupid shit's over and all the "parties" and "sides" have moved forward. What a headache it all was.
  8. Galidorians? What? lol Um, did Lego run into some kind of severe production problem or is this pic illegitimate? I was pleased with the parts before... still am... but I won't be buying as many if there are actually no leg bones like on the canister. I'm guessing the person who decided to show this pic to the world also went nuts and decided to do it through a moc. >__>
  9. If the people working on TF2 had ANY sense of humor, they'd have shit on set that would make fans freak out. Imagine (cheap) replicas of Cy-Kill, Scooter and Cop-Tur of the old Gobots line wearing TF symbols, sitting out on the shooting set, maybe even getting a (staged) "shoot" of them driving around in a circle for 30 minutes straight. Bonus points if they had transformed versions of their block selves, with a guy inside moving the jaw like it's talking while the camera rolls! Imagine the hilarity that would ensue on messageboards and blogs everywhere.
  10. I'd love to see him go about Anyone else wonder why it's so damn easy to jump online and know what's what for each episode of the next season? Is there reason to letting all this info out so early? Was it not possible for the BBC to cover up that the Doctor Anyway, I liked last week's episode (as I'm still dl'ing this week's) reference to him not regenerating because he was killed too suddenly. Strange stuff.
  11. Those were just the fools though. No, I'm sorry. I should say those were the ones who didn't moc. But then again, the Bohrok Kal were DAMN near identical piles of silver... most annoying for mocer or set enthusiast. Flop-ola! These new Jetrax sets are good because they're good parts piles and because alot of people have been wanting more yellow. I say every year of Bionicle should have one, single set done in more than one color, to test the market if nothing more.
  12. I liked Jaller as a set, but not as what Jaller used to be. I agree it'd look cool fighting alongside Tahu, but his name should be like "Fire Guy" or something... ...too different from the character it's supposedly derived from. Very not credible and silly.
  13. It's the FIIINAL COOOOOUNTDOOOOOOOWN, woooooOOOOOAAAAH! Actually, isn't that the same video that's been getting Lego's panties in a bunch a few weeks, minus the music from Boston at the very end?
  14. Hey man, some of the best mocers out there build on the grass. Take expert mocer Cajun, for instance. If I recall, he builds on the grass all the time. It's fairly safe as long as you pay attention... ... ...though there was that ONE time... http://www.majhost.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=119376
  15. There's not much to the set I like, but oddly enough the part I do like is the silver blade. I guess it looks more ferocious and swordlike as opposed to some of the wonkier techno-babble types commonly seen. No surprise of course that the set only includes one of them. DAMMIT, LEGO... I'M ON TO YOU!
  16. Oh man, if you've got an account and can view it, drop that HERE. Lol, the blank word boxes at the bottom add to the hilarity.
  17. Not impossible, but doubt they'll be there much. They'd have been plastered all over promo pics by now if they were. EDIT: (Did see Luke there for a quick second).
  18. I've never been a fan of the sets Lego designed, but if these Mistika are what they're using as a climax for the line are... yeesh. Oh well. Bionicle started out personally for me as just parts packs and that's how they'll surely end. (Though I admit, the large canistered bad guy Phantoka were decent action figures on their own).
  19. I was thinking about a photoshop of this just the other day, but realized it might be seen as more than a humorous pun on the name and more like a covert attempt to garner support for him. Hmm... any Lego items that rhyme with "Ron Paul"?
  20. Exactly. If one wants to rebuild the Toa... well, you can probably skip buying their Mistika incarnations altogether, for there's nothing in the sets really to accomplish that goal. The required parts are scattered all over the Lego sets of the past 6 or whatever years since they debuted, in System, Technic, Bionicle and Hades knows what other lines there've been. This is truly a case of where buying a new version of a character HURTS the creation of revamping the old.
  21. You just know they all felt very silly posing for that.
  22. You know what an awesome person would do? Build it exactly as shown on the package, then seal it away forever in clear resin as a bowling ball.
  23. Well, sylvestermccoy.com mention Racnoss, so it could be a spider leg popping out of her. It'd fit with the enemy waiting in the shadows thing. Likely. You see a nuke going off, so maybe Rose is showing Donna different realities where shit hit the fan, one thing being the Doctor(s) of different dimensions getting nailed. Mmmm... Davros pics. I'm so thankful he hasn't been "reimagined" into something that looks hideously different. I love how Doctor Who more or less disproves the popular idea that to have characters be interesting decade after decade for every generation, that you have to COMPLETELY redo them. I look at the poo that Marvel and other comic companies do every few years and laugh at their lack of forced creativity. I also like how the Daleks were made scary because they were "cold", then made scary because they obtained the secrets of time travel, then scary because CGI effects gave them a new look of mobility, and now finally scary again because they've learned the art of recruitment from other realities... ...AND THEY'RE STILL JUST LEGLESS TIN CANS! Seriously, if there was ever a testament to good writing = not needing to retardedly redesign characters...
  24. Aw man... my brother owned that, but it was like I did too. I think I still have the rubber trash compactor monster... only he turned black after being exposed to the environment and chemicals in my fish tank... Well, I mean, just look at it. The poor bastards had to go home to their families at some point. Is a part count more important to you than little Jorgey growing up without a daddy?
  25. UCS Death Star = success! Thank you for hosting those images online, Lego. It's fun to hunt them down where you hide them on your site!
