Vote now in the Exo-Force Robo Chopper contest!
JINZONINGEN73 replied to Siegfried's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Hinky's looks so common sense and laid back. The robot looks most comfortable as he strolls around on his scouting duties. Only thing missing is a beer can in his hand. Wish I'd participated. Looking at the parts... is it not possible to actually make a chopper motorcycle? I'm suprised not to see one here... think I'll go grab these parts and give it a try. -
Weight, rather, speed are the issue here. The train needs to be going fast enough to make it over to the next electrified terminal. Go too slow and EEEEEEERT! A bunch of pissed off commuters. However, depending on layout, adding "dead" tracks here and there might actually be a fun thing to do. (Not even sure why, just brainstorming).

The point is, that at this moment, there IS a target group for such things. And Lego, instead of doing it right, went and had some... wretchedly "novice" attempts at emulating that style. They failed, and Exo-Force has been canceled. I'm saying, if they're going to do it, they need to not do it half-assed. In other words, get some real sushi chefs instead of just tossing some rice and seaweed paper in a bowl. Why, you're absolutely right. Long live piles of silver weapons haphazardly slapped on things that are jumbled to begin with! Or, you know, one could make Bionicle actually look really good and give the characters character. Drop production in poopy gimmick launchers and spend those resources on neat armor for the shoulders, waist, shins, ankles... Have sets be more poseable than they are, like turning waists and junk. If I'm a japanophile, what's the definition for one that thinks the current figures are good looking? Is there even a definition? It's hard to place a name, for the figures themselves are... well, whatever they are. They don't have any long-running standard short of -must have giant, moc-unfriendly parts -must have weirdass launchers, etc etc...

Hahaha, exactly. That's best left to the masters.. ... ...who often mess things up horribly themselves. X D

What was the last movie you watched?
JINZONINGEN73 replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I just downloaded one of the most ducked up movies I've seen in a LONG time. D -
Nice looking canisters, but all the excess flashing off the sides make them that much harder to moc with. In the 70's and 80's, diecast giant robots from Japan were all similar in the firing weapons department. Sure, some guys shot off their unique fists and other stuff, but aside from the diameter, bullets were still bullets and launchers were no more visible than a tiny hole with a button somewhere nearby. That's where Bionicle's failing. They keep making these giant-assed blasters. In the 90's, GI Joe took a HORRIBLE turn, with 3 3/4inch figures carrying rocket launchers that were the same size as them. It was... stupid. Lego just needs to standardize a projectile (zamor!), then work each year on getting the cannons that launch them tinier and tinier. Mass production of those units should bring their cost down. THEN they can devote all their resources to doing COOL gimmicks, like mask design, joint design, and if there's a couple japanese people employed, character design. Wasting time, money and specific molds on coming out with crazycrap launchers and projectiles is counter-productive. Eventually, they WILL run out of annoying gimmick ideas. What next, shooting marbles out of their stomachs? (Lol... the Phantoka kinda' already do that!) Troll hair? (Wait, that'd be cool). SLIME? (Don't laugh, nearly every long-running toy franchise goes there). Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the 90's were like this... they literally used up every toy gimmick that had come before. I'm guessing the "transforming" Bionicle figures are just steps away.

After that last Brickshelf fiasco, I've been ALL Flickr, baby! Still upload gifs and inane crap to maj though. But for Lego... Flickr's just SO damn satisfying.

The only ASSURED buys of mine will be Blackarachnia, Soundwave. I noticed that the human "Meltdown" character is now a brain-in-a-box / Mr. Freeze type dealie... except he transforms into something much akin to a bike you'd see in a Ghost Rider comic. Don't like his shoulder joints though... seem a little sloppy. I prefer the custom Powerglide from Jizai toys compared to Hasbro's new plane guy. This guy NEEDS to be on Takara's payroll: http://64.233.179.104/translate_c?hl=en&u=...%3Doff%26sa%3DX Funny thing is, both the new Hasbro guy and this customized G1 Powerglide both look like they stole the head off of Shogun warriors Combattra and ripped his antennae off.

The real shocking blow to me here among all the other problems with this figure... the mask is ASYMMETRICAL. >__< Well! I wasn't going to buy it, so I don't have to worry about mocing with that mask anyway, do I? (Man... and they didn't even give her/it a TRANS mask!) Shameful...

I'll be Bricklinkin' those lime green parts. Unfortunately... that might be it but for one or two of the bad guys sets. To be fair though, if this were 2002, I'd be totally freaked at how cool all these sets are. BUT... it is in fact 2008. Which is too late. Glow in the dark, yes? (These may have been poster (here) already): http://www.flickr.com/photos/brickjournal/...57603926050073/ http://tf08.figures.com/showgallery.php?cat=629 http://toyfair08.asmzine.com/gallery/lego/...icle/index.html

... ... ....Ah... eh... ... ...ahah. Ahahaha. HAHAHAHAHAHA! A bad situation just got worse! MAN, that better not be right... but it's so late in the game now... they must be, right? WOW. Anyway, likin' the front parts on the orange speederbike. Not sure if that warrants purchase of the whole entire unit though. Now stop that. This many people reaching for the barfbags can't ALL be virgins to the action figure aisles. (Well, to be fair, my Walmart has moved Bionicle and Lego away from the action figure aisles and a few over into the LEARNING toy aisle. ) >__<

LOL @ silly accordion air bladder launchers. Is there NO end to the cheesy, out-dated toy gimmicks being tossed at Bionicle?!? All they need is to super-streamline the Zamor launchers. They were on the right track there. Were. Gali is just the most astounding trainwreck I thought possible. NOW do some of you "other guys" understand why sticking it faithful to the characters they were based on is an important thing? Like Boney McLonglegs and Blacky McLimespots. Those two are worthy of purchase. Onua has some good parts too... but probably won't bother. After seeing these, I wish that this was the last year of Bionicle... perhaps replaced by a totally different, better line... but ONLY after they fire any american or dutch designers and bring in a 100% Japanese crew.

I would, but ...ugh. Lol, they're $9.99 EACH. Maybe I can sneak my digicam in there at like 2AM... maybe. For the life of me, I can't figure out exactly what they're saying, mostly because of the music in the store. They start off yelling "Fire! Fire!" followed by gunshots and blasts, then end it with like "No more weapons stop firing" lol or something like that. I took down the data from them, though I haven't searched online yet for any possible pics / references: The front of the blister card says "MAX BATTLE". The back has all 3 characters with the name "KAPAR". It's from Mountanview (maybe Mountain View?) Marketing. As said, they're being sold at a Turkey Hill convenience store, so it's entirely possible their sister stores "Wawa" might carry them as well.

Star Wars live action TV series 2009.

Couldn't he have played with Wookies as a kid and still keep the training as an Imperial dealie intact? Well, unless some writer accidentally closed that bridge off already... -

JINZONINGEN73 replied to :Venomess:'s topic in LEGO Action Figures
I usually hate mocs that aren't symmetrical... but here... it's like the thing is so one-purpose and mechanical that there was no consideration for natural aesthetics. Yet it's organic enough to... well, do what it does lol. -
... ...??? I remember Palisades did a Brainscan Membros exclusive with a Micronauts fan club... but I don't think Suckadelic owns the rights to intellectual property of Micronauts. The head and wings, if I'm not mistaken, were yoinked from Acro Elsa whose mold is owned by Takara. The sword looks familiar as does the body... I'm not thinking they're original sculpts. As for not being bootlegs... how so? They're even LISTED as bootlegs on their own site lol. Are you telling me their use of Kenner / Hasbro molds for their Star Wars figures are merely "custom"? I mean, granted, they're not using the original molds, but they're grabbing limbs from all over toydom to make these figures... the only sculpting would be in smoothing over / minor alterations to them. I mean heck, they made a figure out of Micronauts Antron and Fisher Price People Clawtron lol. Remember, there's a reason these figures are given short release runs. If they weren't bootlegs, they could sell as many as they wanted without legal ramification. Even THIS fully original sculpt is too infringing to be released in any large quantity. I recall dollar stores being sued / forced to yank clearly custom-sculpted from scratch likenesses of Boba Fett and Darth Vader... how would it be if Sucklord with an only mildly modified head and body of a Kenner / Hasbro sculpted figure go down? I wonder what the legal deal is though... ...the convenience store down the road from me has Bionicle ripoffs of Sidorak, Keetongu and ...and uh, the other titan from that wave lol. However, they retooled it so they're less take-apart, have a flashing eye and scream stuff like "Fire! Fire!". Am I to believe that by a simple customization of the Lego-sculpted characters and parts that Lego wouldn't ask Turkey Hill to pull it off the shelves? (Disregard entire above post if Takara has given rights of Acro Elsa's likeness to Suckadelic lol)

I remember watching it on tv. I must've been like 4 or 5, but god DAMN. even then, I was tilting my head going, "What am I LOOKING at here?!?" The only thing that caught my loving interest watching it was wanting to see more of the fighter toys that Chewbacca's son was playing with and the Boba Fett cartoon. The rest was just plain scary and... variety crap, made for old people. It was like the Carol Burnett show... except with weird costumes. Did I REALLY need to see Luke wearing eye shadow? Did I REALLY need to see my favorite space warriors SINGING? Did I REALLY need to see Chewbacca's grandfather getting off to a chick dancing around in a Virtual Reality helmet? I was just a child! :-D Download it. Lucas has done his best to erase all references to it, but videotapers (and now uploaders) have managed to keep safe at least an "ok" quality of it's first and only airing. (Ah, apparently "Droids" came some time before Episode 4.) To be more accurate, a much cooler, much better sounding General Grievous. What a shocker when I saw the live action one immediately after seeing the cartoon network one. :-|

Which makes perfect sense, as "x" goes silent in some words. Heh... odd... today I was online looking at another action figure (though a bootleg) named with a pun on the word misery: I dunno... I liked Bionicle names more when they were pissing of the Maori. Now some of them are as silly as "Darth (insert negative word here)" that Star Wars does.

Star Wars live action TV series 2009.
JINZONINGEN73 replied to Lt. Veers's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Well, you're forgetting that the world's going to end in 2012, so... ::gets hit in the face:: -
Ok, let's see if I have the chronology right, not being a geek for Star Wars as much as others... Episode 1 - Ani the Bad Actor Episode 2 - You Killed my Mommy NEW Clone Wars CGI movie OLD Clone Wars cartoon Episode 3 - Thank Hades for Illegal Downloading NEW live action series Episode 4 - A New Hope CBS Star Wars Holiday Special LOL Episode 5 - Empire Kicks All Sorts of megablocks Episode 6 - Return of the Muppets That seems weird to me, if I have it right... going BACK in time before the original Clone Wars cartoon. Err... wait, so does the new Clone Wars episodes fit in AFTER the new CGI movie but before the old cartoons? (And where did "Droids" and "Ewoks" fit in?)

I got up to the part about not linking to another person's site without asking them first and stopped reading lol. -
"The Emergency Room" lol. That's one funky lookin' piece atop the ambulance. *wub*

Hmm... Wikipedia says that the animated episode "Along Came a Spider" already aired... but days later, I'm still not seeing it yet on torrent sites. Maybe it aired on some obscure cartoon channel in some obscure country.
