  1. Looks like this part to me. The recent Porsche 911 RSR set had similar caps as well, actually.
  2. I just love this kind of MOCs! Great job! I've been fascinated by @L@go's MOCs for this very reason – they capture the mood of the original sets, and have some extra polish thanks to the newer parts.
  3. There actually is a separate thread for this MOC started by the designer himself: Show Alexander some well-deserved love
  4. I wonder if anyone would be up to building this: The rims are obviously based on the Harley-Davidson ones, and thanks to the Speed Champions sets, there are enough Ford-related prints/stickers available.
  5. Thank you for the kind words 'ThatGuyWhoBuilds'! For a while now, I've been using Mecabricks to do the rendering. One thing to keep in mind: if you only have experience with building in Lego Digital Designer, it may take some time (very little, actually) to figure out how it works in Mecabricks. Overall, it is an amazing service that is constantly getting better, and the rendering is very easy to do, very quick and very good. I would also recommend this thread by @Scrubs , the developer behind Mecabricks, to get a better idea of what it can offer:
  6. Just click and hold the title to edit it. The video is pretty fun, it reminded me of the "This is Sparta!" moment from 300. Some special effects could make it more spectacular, though. Maybe something like dust from under the legs?
  7. I really like the use of the door for the headboard, very nice piece usage!
  8. Thank you 'Merlict'! I like the swords because they have that slight bend to them, and they also contribute to the Japanese theme of the build. That said, the rigid hoses might work.
  9. Yet again it took me almost 6 month since the last MOC to complete a new one. The excuse I make for myself is that there are a few tricky techniques used to get the shape of some elements right, but I guess that's just another way of saying that I am overcomplicating things Today I would like to present to you Kaiju: This started as a mod/update for an older MOC - JDM, but in the end I would say that the only thing that they have in common is the prototype. I am very happy with the solutions for the side vents and the rear lights. Admittedly, the lights have some parts just slotted between other parts, but they seem to be secured pretty well. Another fiddly part is the connection of the rear section to the rest of the build. The new bracket piece came in very handy indeed. Here's a link to the MOC on Mecabricks and an LDD model. As a final note, a disclaimer for those who may try to build it IRL: I don't know how sturdy this is if it is at all, but I will appreciate it if you let me know Comments and critique are welcome!
  10. I liked this just from looking at the pictures - a great combination of City scale and some more advanced Technic functions. But I did not realize just how simple yet effective the mechanism is, so I was completely blown away once I saw the video. Amazing job, would love to have one myself!
  11. Click "Show more", B models seem to be there (Porsche doesn't have one): https://www.lego.com/en-us/service/buildinginstructions/search#?search&combined=10000-20002%3B2019
  12. I assume that with 6542 by mirroring the set you mean mirroring the layout of the pier. Judging by the instructions book, no side-specific parts are used, so you should be able to build the entrance on the other side. You could actually mirror the pages to make it easier.
  13. https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=885&itemBrand=1000 Unikitty sets had a lot of 1x3 printed plates (released last year) and the Speed Champions Porsche 917K had some of those too.
  14. Well, if we consider smaller and older iconic sporty cars, Fiat 500 Abarth and Golf GTi Mk1 would qualify.
  15. Second that. I've also seen it used (very cleverly) to build a front for a European cabover semi. Unlike a few other "functional pieces", it is shaped exactly like a regular brick which makes it perfect to add texture. For instance, https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=16968 could also be very useful for that same reason.
  16. I highly doubt LEGO would ever consider making a move to shift to Technic from System. System will ever be present. No, you're right, I definitely did not mean that What I actually meant by "the move from System to Technic" was that at some point parents, or even younger LEGO fans themselves, consider getting Technic sets instead of System ones. In this context having minifig-scale Technic sets could make them more appealing. Of course, Technic and System have been combined in other themes, like Ninjago and Star Wars, for a very long time, Technic pieces being used to enable interesting functions and transformations, or simply to create a compact, yet sturdy framework for larger structures. But when you have a 6-wide City truck and a 7-wide Technic truck with working steering, or crane, or any other function, at some point you might start thinking "What if I try to fit these functions into City sets?". @ER0L has done something similar (see below), as many others have, I am sure, and pretty much everyone at the Trains subforum combine Technic and City in the PF trains. Overall, I think that having System and Technic sets in similar scale is a good idea because it creates a situation where you don't have to choose between the subsystems and can explore both at the same time. In my opinion, it is very useful for AFOLs to be aware of the full spectrum of what LEGO has to offer, because sometimes a System piece in a Technic MOC or vice versa makes all the difference. OK, i'm starting to ramble here, hope that this makes some sense
  17. I have a feeling that starting with 42023: Construction Crew in 2014, LEGO have been consistently and I think deliberately releasing Technic sets that were more or less minifig-scale: 42035: Mining Truck (reused in 42055) 42044: Display Team Jet 42045: Hydroplane Racer 42057: Ultralight Helicopter 42062: Container Yard 42064: Ocean Explorer 42071: Dozer Compactor Some other ones I am not so sure about, but they would fit a minifig too. I think LEGO are trying to make the move from System to Technic as seamless as possible by making many entry-level Technic sets more or less to scale with City or Creator sets.
  18. Great use of the white flag piece, that thin white line does add a touch of authenticity to the look of the car. Well done!
  19. Unfortunately, the colors in which both 88646 (4x3 plate/modified tile) and 28326 (mudguard) come are black and orange. Of course, if you decide to chrome them, which some people considered for the piece being replaced, it would not make much difference And if the airscoop is actually 4x4 studs, as Bricklink suggests, 6179 (4x4 plate/modified tile with 4 studs) that does come is DBG could also work, and any studs and 28326 to 6179 connection will be hidden deeper inside. What actually might not work are the studs on the upper side of the mudguard, I haven't been able to tell from the photos if there is enough clearance. UPD: the pieces have since become available in a few other matching colors – red, white and, most importantly, light bluish gray.
  20. Yes, that is what I was suggesting. The 4x1 plate is better in that it doesn't have the groove like the tile, but the studs will be visible in the exhaust: There could be another advantage if it could hold the mudguard in place, though I suspect that it can't. However, please keep in mind that I make these assumptions based just on what I can see in digital LEGO tools, so I am equally interested as to how it works in the brick
  21. See bottom right: The same piece - a wheel insert - is used on the SRT Demon, but it isn't printed there. Looks like that is exactly what they did. I actually appreciate the fact that now not only F1 cars with their switchable front wings have this modular feature. The thing I find somewhat disappointing are the rear lights on the Charger - they don't look very Charger-like. 1 stud is too much, 1 plate would be much better.
  22. I found out about this meme after wondering about the same, and while it is really silly, it is also quite funny: https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/big-m8
  23. The bottom curve is a great improvement! It looks like the height of the door had to be sacrificed.
  24. Could this work? (Sorry if this has been suggested already) I'm not sure if there is anything to attach the mudguard to, but it seems to be close in size and shape to #6797, and it is available in dark bluish gray. UPD: It has since become available in light bluish gray as well.
