LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
imvanya replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
I agree that it's probably supposed to be something like a Mercedes-Benz GLC/GLE Coupe or BMW X4/X6, but it also looks 2-door and there is that wing on the back... -
LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

I might be wrong, but hot rods are quite popular in Denmark and Northern Europe in general. So your theory regarding inspirations for CIty sets is not completely debunked I think you could also consider it an homage to Town (technically, not City) sets 6561 and 6538: And I've already mentioned 10200: And now I am officially boring, but they had some in City sets, like 4438 and 60048: -

There must be. I'm sure those parts would make many MOCers very happy. -

Also, finally figured out what felt so nostalgic about the Tuning Workshop – I was captivated by 10200 back in the day. Fun as it was, though, the red hot rod was the only vehicle that looked really finished, the other 2 were fun as well, but kind of wacky. So to me 60258 looks like a polished, properly 2020 version of 10200. And since you have a hot rod a modern street-racing-looking car a jet bike (full-on wacky!) a tow truck a compact town car you would be able to play out a lot of fun scenarios. -

Strictly speaking, they are more similar to 60053 and 60113 from the Great Vehicles subtheme, and 60053 came out back in 2014 – a year before first Speed Champions sets. Honestly, the 60256 cars look like mods of said cars. And if we are being really nerdy, similar sporty civilian and police 6-wide cars have been featured in a bunch of sets ever since 2013: 60007 High Speed Chase – 2013 60053 Race Car – 2014 60113 Rally Car – 2016 60128 Police Pursuit – 2016 60138 High-speed Chase – 2017 60141 Police Station – 2017 60200 Capital City – 2018 60239 Police Patrol Car – 2019 -
LEGO Speed Champions 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

The wheels do look kind of small. But what really puzzled me was an exposed stud supporting the rear lights at an angle. I think it's the only reason why a 87087 is used there. But a 4070 + 54200 combo would do the same, and would look more neat in my opinion. Admittedly, this assembly would result in a half-plate gap, but it would still be less obvious, and you could pretend it's that vertical turn signal found on the real car. -

It is a 2-seater for a change, and it is really interesting to compare it to Marc Runde's rendition of the same car: UPD: I only just now realized that the new frame piece is specifically designed to allow 2 minifigures to sit side-by-side: -
PowerPoint is surprisingly good at this: create a new document; go to the Insert tab, click Pictures and insert the picture from which you want to remove the background; go to the Format tab, there should be a Remove Background button – click it and adjust the result if necessary; right-click the inserted image and choose Save as Picture... to save the results. Not sure if the feature is available in the older version of PP, though.

Here I am resurrecting this topic again after another long break. I recently started topic [LDD MOCs] [LEGO Ideas Contest] imvanya's city cars for non-sports cars (a delivery truck and a taxi) I built for the LEGO Ideas "BUILD A VINTAGE CAR TO CRUISE THE STREETS OF LEGO® MODULAR BUILDINGS!" contest. I was quite sure I would not manage to build another one – and yet I somehow did exactly that in a matter of 2 days. Since it is more similar to the cars featured in this topic. I though I would post them here. There are a lot of really cool entries in the contest, including several convertibles. The idea of a City-scale convertible has been intriguing me for some time, so I decided to finally take a shot at it. My main goal was to make it functional but as incospicuous as possible. I would like to believe I succeeded at it, though the folding is pretty puch the only feature of the car. The dark bluish gray color is the result of Bricklink research to see in what colors the parts are available. DISCLAIMERS: the assembly of the rear wheel arches appears quite fragile, though Stud.io stability check claims it is robust the roof does not line up perfectly with the windshield when unfolded, but I think it is close enough. Anyway. comments and critique are welcome as usual. The model is available at Mecabricks, or you can download an .lxf file (red parts are what's missing in LDD and should be replaced).

I actually did a render of this recolor, thought I'd share it:

Do you mean this minifigure? Here's the Bricklink page for it. Click the link under "Item consists of" for the list of parts.

They are either 7150/7152 or 7262. which one exactly would depend on the second ship – Darth Vader's TIE Advanced. The Y-wings builds seems to be identical, but maybe someone with more knowledge can correct me.

[MOC] Delorean

A really cool model, and a perfect package of looks and function. Have you considered using flared mudguard plates instead of the arch bricks? The arch dimensions are the same, but the flares could compensate for the angle at which that section is installed and cover the wheels just that tiny bit more, like here: Mostly a theoretical question, as I'm fully aware that bricks that you want to use are often not the bricks you have.- 3 replies

Surprisingly, this color scheme is the result of my referencing Bricklink for parts availability. A couple of times that i did this before what i got was a black, gray or white car If you end up building any one of them, I would love to see the pictures.

After completing the delivery truck I still had some creative energy flowing, which I didn't want to waste. So here's another vintage city car created for the LEGO Ideas contest, and another popular concept – a taxi. The things I wanted to implement with this one were: covered rear wheels hood and windshield assemblies based on the 41682 bracket. It took a few tries to build the front, but it was the the rear that proved to be the tricky part because of the 1-plate offset and the parts I decided to use. In the end, I used a couple of 41682-s here as well. I am still not 100% sure if the final design is robust enough, but the looks are decent. This one fits 3 minifigs with relative comfort plus a minifig suitcase in the openable trunk. The roof and the hood are detachable, and there's a brick-built V engine identical to the one in the delivery truck. DISCLAIMER: many of the pieces may not actually be available in yellow! However, if you just want a vintage-looking car, it should be possible to come up with a different color scheme. For instance, put a 3185 or a 15332 behind the front seats, make the car black with white doors, roof and hood, slap a trans-red 1x1 round plate on top – and you have yourself a police cruiser Comments and critique are welcome as usual. The model is available at Mecabricks, or you can download an .lxf file.

Please note that a couple of parts are not available in LDD, so are missing in the file: 8 36840 brackets – 2 for the headlights and 6 for the mudguard assemblies; 1 35480 plate for the front bumper; 2 35459 inverted tiles for the rear bumper.

Thank you! Minifigure accessories are quite useful when you want to itroduce finer details into a MOC. It's great seeing LEGO introduce more techniques like that into more official sets.
-
Thanks for the kind words! Do not hesitate to use the Mecabricks model if you want to build it. Unfortunately, some of the parts are missing in LDD. As to the parts availability, I tried to make sure that all of the bricks exist in the colors used.

As some of you may know, I already have a topic for my sport cars. Why not have another one for regular city cars? The latest LEGO Ideas contest "BUILD A VINTAGE CAR TO CRUISE THE STREETS OF LEGO® MODULAR BUILDINGS!" was a perfect occasion to get back to building after a break. After all, 6-wide cars is what I mainly build, so why not take a shot at a contest? Choosing a subject matter for an entry was the first step. In the end, I (like many others) decided to build a delivery truck. I was able to complete it in about a week, and looking back at it, I think I may have overcomplicated things as I tend to. Anyway, I am really pleased with the end result, especially with the shaping of the fenders. It fits one minifig, 3 crates and a hand truck. The roof and the hood are detachable, and there's a brick-built V engine. Comments and critique are welcome. The model is available at Mecabricks, or you can download an .lxf file. UPD: PDF instructions are now available at my Bricksafe here.

So true! Hopefully, those are stickers... -
According to Bricklink, the part does not exist in these colors.

A screenshot would be helpful Could this be it?
