  1. I appreciate what LEGO is going for with these, especially with the lovely scenery builds that double as display stands. The base and helicopter set is the best of the bunch for me, and the parts count looks fine numerically, but even then I'm still wondering where all of those parts went? The value for the size of the included models doesn't seem to be there, even though the Minifigures are also very good, it includes the horse, and there's the new wheelchair in that set. The other newly revealed sets don't do too much for me since I don't usually care much for creature builds or mechs. The contrast between the smooth moulded head and blocky body of the Thanator is too much, and the banshees look just fine, if overly dominated by the vinyl wings.
  2. Was that designed to intentionally look like a droopy Darth Vader helmet? How funky.
  3. Pretty disappointed with this series honestly. I wasn't a huge fan of S18 conceptually either but that one actually has a lot over this one. S18 had a lot more universally useful or fun things than this series IMO, from new general use hair and hat pieces to things like the plant pot and cake, plus a new animal. Here there are some ok things: The ship's captain is a fine ship's captain and the boat is fun I guess. The wolf has ok parts to use in conjunction with an actual wolf head, and the printed sack is good. Christmas Elf adds a good alternative hat piece for people that like elves, and her accessory has fun parts if not amazing. Knight is fine as a Easter egg sort of figure, and I can also see the horse head being reused in a bunch of settings if it's detachable. Snowman is a nice novelty if not very detailed as a figure. Nutcracker has ok parts, though also not very detailed in print style. And that's about it from my perspective. I'm glad to see them keep using mid legs but would love to get mid legs with more broad-use prints. If the popcorn guy had a jeans print on his dark red legs for instance I might go as far as buying that figure, but as it is he does nothing for me. It's a shame that after a few really strong unlicensed series, they've stepped backwards to this.
  4. Oh yeah no I know, and Star Wars fandom and media already has a long and storied history of picking up on the smallest details. Just look at those "Tales from Mos Eisley Cantina" and "Tales from Jabba's Palace" books from ages ago fleshing out stories for the most minor background characters. I was just pointing out that to me personally the red lenses thing is almost equivalent to Han Solo's dice. Regardless, like you say Darth Vader has now been depicted with very purposeful red lenses and it'd be cool to get a LEGO variant that reflects that. A dual moulded one with actual trans-red lenses would be even better.
  5. The thing with the red eyes is that it's an early-ish example of "fan service" and reverence to something that isn't necessarily worth revering. Yeah the lenses of the helmet were red and transparent in ANH and the helmet was matte and not as tall - but then do we say that canonically Vader got a new helmet and changed it up for ESB, or that actually George Lucas had more money and was able to have the costume executed more to his liking? Subsequent media has gone with the former, over-emphasising the red lenses in pre-ANH material as if to say "hey remember when it was sometimes obvious that the Vader costume had red lenses in ANH!??" Even though the original intention might have never been for him to have obviously red lenses, they just made the costume that way and they look black in most light.
  6. While your post comes across as slightly spammy, Honey is a legit service that might be of interest to people that don't know about it. I've removed your referral link though, since we don't want that sort of thing here.
  7. Really? What the fuzzy picture had going for it was that I couldn't be 100% sure the set is awful. Now I'm sure. It looks like a bland MOC. On a table at a convention it'd be fine - "oh nice someone recreated that scene", but as a set it's just rubbish. Totally underwhelming location, so small for the price.
  8. I'll reserve judgement for the final high quality pictures, but the thing that annoys me about this set in principle are that LEGO designers are like "we can't just make a Lars Homestead playset because kids will find it boooooring" but we CAN make an actual boring flat rock because... the scene was exciting I guess? And given that this is what the set is, they should've done the scene for $30 at most.
  9. The pearl gold messenger mags are quite the NPU!
  10. Congratulations to our winner @firefabric and runner up @kritch! You'll be getting PMs from me very shortly. Thank you to everyone who entered and voted!
  11. Wow it's stunning! Boga is such a random, an out-there design in-universe and you've really nailed it. Your attention to detail is magnificent.
  12. For Australians, it seems the Shrieking Shack set is quite likely to be found already in Kmart. I saw reports of people finding it in Melbourne and have now found it myself in Sydney, but only that one set. There were also LOADS of the Flying Lesson set and the Moments sets in the store I checked. Not sure what's up with that. Late arriving shipment of the Flying Lesson perhaps.

  14. IMO I wouldn't expect Taun We to ever go for less than $8 or $10 USD. Now, that would still be a savings over buying the set itself if she's truly all you care about, but I really doubt she'll go for less. The dress piece has been printed on the back loads of times.
  15. Oh I didn't necessarily mean the thing about packaging a desirable figure with a starfighter in a negative light. It's just a grand tradition, that's all. It's happened with the Gungan Sub and A-Wings and Y-Wings and X-Wings and even already with Jedi Starfighters too. I don't reasonably expect LEGO to do any Kamino scene as a playset, and this figure fits the actual "scene" more than many have before. Brown. I always have and always will want Obi-Wan's hair to be basic old reddish brown. It shines a little lighter and little orsnge-ish depending on the lighting, but the dude still has brown hair. And if not full on brown, then nougat if I'm being generous, or the new medium brown. But it's always going to stay orange.
  16. I also have negative interest in the actual Obi-Wan show, but the Inquisitor set looks ace. I'm still kicking myself for not picking up the Krennic Shuttle (from a film I really liked to boot). The Starfighter also looks fine for what it is - there's something about the flat old Deltas with the old cockpit that just look more right than the newer ones, even if the newer ones are much more stable and more enjoyable builds. The grand tradition of throwing a desirable character in with a semi-related starfighter lives on, though in this instance the Obi-Wan is very good as well. A pity LEGO will never concede that his hair isn't orange.

  19. You love to selectively read things. And selectively not answer questions. Why are you even on this website anymore if you hate LEGO this much?
  20. Except all the ones they do sell. And physical Pick a Brick walls. It's their prerogative which pieces they want to sell to people.
  21. Ha ha. It's called being a fan of something. If you hadn't noticed, you're on a website for fans of LEGO.
  22. I haven't seen any yet, but it looks like the exact same scale. Hopefully someone does such a thing soon. The problem for display is of course that it's totally dilapidated, if you were to put them all together.
  23. Voting will be open this coming weekend at the latest. Yes especially as this will be a simple one-vote model, we'll exclude entrants from voting.
  24. You say things like this in most of your posts in this thread, but I really see no evidence of AFOLs moving away to other brick-brands besides you. Most AFOLs love LEGO the product, not the format of LEGO or the concept of interlocking bricks and parts. People could lose interest in a hobby for a variety of reasons, but frustration with LEGO the company as it currently exists and moving to different suppliers of interlocking parts has got to be VERY VERY low down on that list. So LEGO ruined one of its fun ways for people to directly buy parts. Oh well. It's annoying to me too but easy enough to learn to live without in the long run.
