  1. I think the question was more in the line of - why write Jar-Jar episodes at all? These particular Jar-Jar episodes were actually almost ok, since we got to see Mace in action for once, but then again they were more of the classic nothing-to-do-with-the-Clone-Wars Clone Wars episodes. Besides for one line about helping out neutral systems, those episodes really had nothing to do with the Clone Wars at all and weren't even particularly good stories. It was only cool to see some new locations, creatures, and a bit of nice action. What the heck is it with Anakin and his anger in these episodes? Every time he does anything he seems about to force choke someone. I get that he's supposed to show more anger than normal Jedi, but I feel like they've taken it way over the top and it doesn't even work.
  2. I was really just talking about the color scheme, not overall instruction-booklet style. It's just very plain and dull on the inside, compared to some other themes which have more interesting colors and patterns. The black instruction booklets aren't replacing the rest - they are used just in Architecture and Cuusoo to be more impressive items in and of themselves (they will probably be used in upcoming Star Wars exclusives as well). All other types of sets have the regular type of instructions.
  3. That figure comes straight out of the Marvel Superheroes game too. I wouldn't take it as too much indication of anything, but it would be nice.
  4. You didn't realize 53 year olds all look like they're in their 70's in the Star Wars Universe?
  5. You really want an exclusive figure in a polybag, so that it's very hard to get? The way it is now, they're putting a variant that only comes in one larger set in the polybag, so that those lucky enough to find the poly don't have to buy the Shellraiser if they want the figure, while at least everybody else can still pretty easily get him.
  6. That picture was just taken from someone or other's Toy Fair pictures, as you can see the physical Storm out of focus on the bottom of the picture. Huw at Brickset has done a good job cropping it though; almost looks like an official image of the boxart. X-Men vs. The Sentinal is a clunky title, and I wonder if it will change. It's more like "X-Men vs. A Sentinal and also Magneto."
  7. I'm quite glad they've been going this route. Movies aren't like comics, and I don't think even comics successfully pull off the same villain coming back again and again. In movies it would get really stale really fast.Just look at the X-Men trilogy. The second one worked because it wasn't really Magneto as the villain for a lot of the film, so it was fresh. Magneto as the villain wasn't the only problem with the third one by far, but he was one of the problems - we'd seen that already. Having the same villain come back with basically the same motives or "for revenge" or whatever would get really dull in movies. Whenever they do leave somebody alive, I roll my eyes and think "great, they'll pull him back out again a couple of installments later when they've totally run out of ideas."
  8. I too agree that the Spider Trike is awful (and not just because it's a Spider-Man vehicle, but because it's a terrible-looking vehicle), but the other two are ok. What LEGO really could have done to make them better would have been to come out with some Spidey variants. It doesn't help that the figure they're using now looks crappy, so to get him over and over is really a shame. Either a redesign or a few different costume variants would have really added to the Spidey sets.
  9. My local LEGO Store must have gotten fed up with Lennox' Lion Attack, since they marked it down all the way to about 8 US. I'm not that interested in Chima, but I couldn't pass up a deal like that.
  10. LEGO has made slim-use accessories for Licenses before. Look at the guns and armor/helmet pieces for Man of Steel. Not that I mind having a cool gun, but I don't think those were even necessary (I mean just the guns, the armor was necessary, but I don't think we'll see it again). They also made the new guns for Lone Ranger that they then did not use for the LEGO movie, so it's possible that we might not even see that mould used again in another theme (it was very un-LEGO-ish anyway). I wouldn't be surprised if the GotG characters get new, special weapons that really suit them, even when an existing piece could be used.
  11. Holy cow, are those Collectible MF bases in grey on the legs? I never thought we'd see those show up in sets. That's pretty cool.
  12. FBTB has one shot, check the topic here.
  13. Yep, that's what FBTB is reporting. Ace also says that the jet can hold all of the minifigs, so that'd good, and there are some nice closeups of the minifigs from all angles over there. Storm really looks great! (Only anybody who wanted her tiara will grumble.)
  14. There have been bubbles in that type of part forever. I have numerous lightsabers with bubbles from 1999. It's not a China thing.
  15. It has room for 3 minifigures according to blurbs (like the one on FBTB). With a little MODing, you can probably get them all in. Needless to say, just by the way the car looks they will fit in it better than the BttF set too!
  16. The sign for the X-Men set at Toy Fair does say X-Men 1. Might that mean there is an X-Men… 2? That's probably reading too much into it, but one can always hope.
  17. Even though from all the images I've seen online the Phantom docks into the Ghost with cockpit facing inward, LEGO has created it so that the cockpit faces out: Great… We already knew they were out of scale, and I guess it's still kind of cool that you can put them together, but the result is pretty weird. That's when happens when you put a maybe-minifig-scale fighter into a way-scaled-down big ship.
  18. Totally weird that that came out of nowhere. That actually looks like one of the best TMNT sets of the line. Interesting also about color-variant Shredder. The prints look exactly the same, just on black instead of dark red. I suppose that makes it more useful, since black is a bit more universal than dark red.
  19. Both the builds in the X-Men set look pretty crappy to me. The jet is just a long blue thing, and then sentinal is a nice little laugh, though a purple laugh, and I like purple. At least the jet is thick so there is potentially room for figures in there, as somebody pointed out. Perhaps these builds will grow on me, since I surely have to get the set to acquire what little X-Men LEGO gives us. Storm certainly looks fantastic, and Cyclops looks ok (I think he'll look better with hair). I prefer the Wolverine and Magneto costumes that came in the first X-Men set, but these will be nice additions anyways.
  20. Besides for the black 'horse hitching' piece (which has actually come in ten sets), the yellow 2x3 pieces you mentioned (which has been in 3 other sets), and the orange clips (4 other sets), I don't see much rare stuff. I guess for a small set that's pretty good, though. You just might want to fact check when you claim how rare things are. (In the Captain America review you accidentally said that the bike is the same color as Wolverine's but a different mould, but that was probably just a flub up.)I'm glad the press release mentions the X-Men set and all of the GotG sets. We're guaranteed to see them tomorrow at last! I can't wait to finally see the X-Jet in its full glory (or perhaps non-glory, depending on how it turns out).
  21. I thought there was an announcement a while ago saying that there were two characters with the last name 'Bridger' and one of them was in the Ghost. Maybe I got that wrong. What the heck is Zeb's weapon? It looks like something out of Chima - two blasters randomly stuck in a lightsaber hilt. These sets look really neat and fresh, though. They definitely give off an OT vibe, and that's a nice change of pace. The minifigs also look to have plenty of all-purpose parts, and great new hair on Kanan as mentioned.
  22. I don't really see these films as trilogies or their own series. Only Iron Man 1 and 2 felt like they went together because they were the only Marvel movies out, but for the rest of them I don't see them as direct sequels since they rely on information from other MCU films as well. Captain America 2 is certainly not going to feel like a follow-up to the first one, at least I don't think so. Thor 2 is sort of a sequel to Thor, but then again it's also a sequel to Avengers as far as Loki and Thor are concerned. That's why I see each of these as just another story with whatever character. They're all part of one big series.
  23. Now that I'm seeing that set not in box pics, the truck looks a bit disappointing to me. The proportions seem to be really out of whack - it's very high off the ground and crazy long. It looks kind of stretched out. Doc Ock is awesome, but with the truck being strange and the other two minifigures being undesirable, I'd call this one a pass.
  24. Why does a discussion thread need to be active if there's nothing relevant to discuss? Sometimes, there really is nothing concerning new sets and rumors, and when that's true it'd be better to just let the discussion thread sit there idly until new information comes along. What happens instead is that people invent discussion, which ends up taking the topic nowhere. When there's nothing to talk about, people shouldn't be talking about anything IMO.
  25. There's no 'beating anybody to the punch' when it comes to set reviews. There's no winning the internet. Lots of reviewers post reviews of a set; we even have many cases of multiple reviews of the same set on EB. It's nice to be able to see the set of course, but I'd just shy away from language that indicates somebody else 'got there first' when it comes to set reviews.
