  1. Seems like Zoot is a popular name, it just so happens that I had a main antagonist named Zoot, the White wizard, in a lego fantasy story I was cooking up when Sandy was producing Princess Quest. He was forever on an academic search for the physical essence of nothingness
  2. Results of Round Two of the Alleyway Battle: >Tarn Valco vs. Werewolf Thug (Dagger) - Damage >Elgar Gligin vs. Werewolf Thug (Dagger) - Aim >William Harkenshire vs. Werewolf Thug (Dagger) - Damage >Atramor Gibbin vs. Werewolf Thug (Bow) - Special Damage >Sir Glorfindel vs. Werewolf Thug (Dagger) - Miss The skirmish wears on, but the battle has definately shifted against the Party. Tarn rushes the dagger wielding werewolf who has now drawn his sword. The thug parries Tarn's battle axe and quickly slashes his dagger across the barbarains arm creating a ragged gash of fabric and flesh. Elgar carefully takes aim at Tarn's opponent but due to the confined space, is only to fire off a glancing shot momentarily distracting the villian. William again readies another shot at the gang leader, but is cut short as the werewolf flings his dagger expertly at the ranger, nailing him in the shoulder. Atramor switches his target, this time attacking the poisoned archer, however the bowman with feral quickness launches a volley of arrows at the Party dealing damage to each member except for Sir Glorfindel who deflects the shot with his shield. The knight then advances on the werewolf leader with sword raised, but his swing cleaves only thin air as his opponent darts out of the way recovering his dagger, which William has painfully pulled from his shoulder. The werewolf archer heaves heavily as he loses more health from Elgar's poisoned arrow Two enemies remain. The battle continues. 3. Wow Sandy, I wasn't expecting that twist in Quest 10. Linear Guild anyone? Glad to have you Smilicito, and welcome to Eurobricks. You're best resource is to read through the first page of this topic, if you need clarification on any of the items, many of the people on here are willing to answer any specific questions you post. Once you've read through the first post, make up your character, put them in your signature, and add a post to the Heroica Hall thread introducing your character. More chances to participate in quests should hopefully be upcoming soon.
  4. Results of Round One of the Alleyway Battle: >Tarn Valco vs. Werewolf Thug (Spear) - Hit >Elgar Gligin vs. Werewolf Thug (Bow) - Hit >William Harkenshire vs. Werewolf Thug (Dagger) - Aim >Atramor Gibbin vs. Werewolf Thug (Dagger) - Miss >Sir Glorfindel vs. Werewolf Thug (Spear) - Miss Tarn in a tremendous display of valor charges the trio of werewolves with a mighty shout, his battle Axe echoing the sounds of roaring waves crashing against a rock face. Tarn easily side steps the spear wielding thug bringing the back haft of his Axe crashing down on the villain's skull knocking him out cold. Elgar and William hurriedly fire off arrows at the remaining pair of gang members, Elgar's poisoned shaft striking solidly into the enemy archer's thigh, while William's arrow only glances off the shoulder of the leader of the opposing group. Atramor, chain in hand, lashes out at the werewolf leader, but the bestial assailant is too quick for him and leaps aside, letting Atramor's chain swing harmlessly by. Glorfindel courageously attempts to strike the poisoned archer, but is too slow, as the werewolf has slunk back to lick his wounds from which he loses 1 Health due to the poison. Two enemies remain. The battle continues. Enemies: Werewolf Thug (Dagger) Type: Humanoid, Beast Level: 3 Health: 11/14 Special: Savage Onslaught – The target is stunned and loses its next turn. 5. "Sod this wretched contraption," Skrall shouted at his weapon. "Perhaps I should have kept my longbow after all," the ogre thought to himself as he again leveled his crossbow at the Dementor from the back row. "Well, Namyrra seems to be holding her own," he thought to himself, "but that Althior fellow, I doubt he could hit the broad side of a barn with a barbarian's battle axe even if he had one. Perhaps we should send that butler of his into the combat, who knows, he probably would stand more of a chance than Althior at close range. Hmmmph... Mages. You can never count on 'em to get the job done unless they're throwin' spells willy nilly." Skrall looks over at Dyric, who has keeled over from a bite from the werewolf. "Watch out you all, stay away from the rogue, don't hurt him, but don't let him get at you!" Skrall adjusts his aim, hoping that he won't have to deal with an attack from within his own party as well. Order of Attack: Althior Namyrra Skrall Arasmyth Bob Dyric
  6. Forget Super Scarabs, Crozen, and liquidating rock monsters. Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a new winner: Goblin Engineer. I guess this is what happens when you have a party full of big strong heroes.
  7. "So what's it goin' be? You goin' a split or what?" The dagger wielding werewolf glares at the party. "Uh chief," the spear toting thug interrupts, "Remember we've got a meetin' with the town watch, before noon." "Close your yap Ralph," the other replies. "Alright I've wasted enough time, prepare to be schooled by the boys from the Blood Paw gang!" With that the werewolf trio advances on the Party, weapons drawn. PREPARE FOR BATTLE! 8. This quest is doable (take cralegoboy's quest as an example of having a big boss battle), as a matter of fact, pretty much any quest is feasible with the basic rule structure Heroica RPG has going for it. I would just encourage you to not put too much effort into planning it all out until you're actually in a quest though. It's easy to think you can plan it all out from just observing other quests, but actual experience gives you a deeper appreciation for how your future players feel in certain situations, as well as helping to generate a better intuition for monster stats, dungeon layouts, item/drops balance, etc. Keep up the enthusiasm, the more QM's we have, the more options there are for the players to participate in.
  9. If you're enroute to a location, you can stop by.

  10. The dagger wielding leader spits at William's feet, "Wolfpack! That excuse for a gang ain't good enough to lick the grime underneath our dewclaws. No siree, we're the real deal, and unless you're want to feel a world of hurt, I suggest you jet and take your fancy shmancy heroics somewheres else."
  11. The Party turns down the alley and comes face to face with a gang of three werewolves accosting a frightened couple. The apparent leader of the group, wielding a wicked dagger eyes the Party, "Sod off chaps! You're in Blood Paw neighborhood, now just move along to whatever costume party you're going to and we'll pretend this whole thing never happened. Kapeesh?" The other werewolves chuckled at their crony's snide remark. In the background the lady of the couple whimpered a slight plead of terror. "Please help..." How will the Party respond?
  12. As the Party walks down the street towards Shrooft's, they hear a scream coming from a nearby alleyway. Does the party wish to invesigate? Atramor Gibbin *Party Leader* (Played by CallMePieORDie) Level 7 Rogue Power: 13 Health: 13/13 Gold: 100 -owes Gurnam the Loan Shark 95 Inventory: Whip Chain of Pickpocketing (WP:6), Bone x2, Potion, Magic Compass, Pickaxe, Magnifying Glass, Shovel, Essence of Obsidian (Quest Item) Elgar Gligin (Played by Jedi master Brick) Level 1 Ranger Power: 4 Health: 6/6 Gold: 5 Inventory: Bow and Arrow *Poisoned* (WP:3), Smoke Bomb, Bedroll, Potion Sir Glorfindel (Played by soccerkid6) Level 1 Knight Power: 4 Health: 10/10 Gold: 0 Inventory: Broadsword (WP:3), Lion Shield (SP:2), Potion x2, Bedroll, Nostrum Tarn Valco (Played by Rumble Strike) Level 6 Barbarian Power: 15 Health: 12/13 Gold: 42 Inventory: Kyrferath, a Battle Ax (WP:9, water elemental), Pole-axe (WP:3), Bottle of Mead, Lightning Bomb, Potion x2, Tonic, Venom, Smelling Salts William Harkenshire (Played by volcanicpanik) Level 1 Ranger Power: 4 Health: 6/6 Gold: 5 Inventory: Bow (WP:3), Potion, Smoke Bomb, Bedroll, Mead, Smelling Salts
  13. As the party prepares to head off to Shrooft's Tomes and Scripts, the Apothecary clerk runs into the streets after them. After catching his breath, he apologizes to the party. "Wait... my good heroes, I'm afraid I've done you wrong, I was just so frustrated with my own lad not coming into work today and leaving me with all this work. However, missing lads are no laughing matter and I shouldn't have taken my frustration with the Guild of Invision out upon you. Please accept my apologies and these simple gifts. Barbarian, here's your money, I don't need it and I have a feeling it may be spent better else where. Don't worry about the mess, I've nearly burned down the old place twice already, so I shouldn't have expected anything less from you all. Next time you stop in my shop Barbarian, you can have 25% off any merchandise! Good luck on your search." The shopkeeper hands Tarn back his 20 Gold and also gives 1 Nostrum and 1 Smelling Salts to the Party to divy up. The shopkeeper turns back toward his shop mumbling to himself, "Essenes of Obsidian...hmmm...I haven't had an order for that since the Grey De..." Nostrum x1 - Imparts the Lucky effect, allowing the target to roll the battle die twice and get the better result of the two for the duration of one battle. Smelling Salts x1 - Imparts the Hastened effect, allowing the target to act twice in one round for the duration of one battle. The Party at last heads off to the bookshop on the east side of Eubric, content with their newly received loot. As they progress, they are again observed by two hooded figures in dark robes shifting silently in and out of the dark doorways and alleys of the city. Party Leader, how will the gifts be distributed?
  14. Just be glad Pie found the answer when he did, taking advantage of the QM's system via overstocking on Meads and Smelling Salts could have had dangerous consequences On a second note, if the Party in Quest 11 wishes to revisit a shop at anytime, they can do so. The hope was that you would have money to spend by the time you made it to the Apothecary, but thus is the fate of a railroadless (to a degree ) RPG.
  15. Skrall raises an eye brow, "Hmmph... Mages. Maybe that butler chap will prove useful after all. "
  16. To those interested, here's the spreadsheet that determined what happened with the chemistry mixtures in Quest #11. The only thing that's different is the Nostrum and the smelling salts are switched for color consistency reasons. to Pie for finally breaking the code, though if Soccerkid6 had posted first, you would have had to start all over again
  17. What occurs next, makes the Party's last attempt look like a picnic. Atramor makes a grab for the Waldruk Pine Needles but is thwarted by the over zealous William. Amidst clinking bottles, reaching hands, flying mortars and pestles, and all together general mayhem Sir Glorfindel valiantly tries to quietly create a concoction of his own. Atramor shouts with triumph as he at last lifts a gleaming black flask of Essence of Obsidian. William shakes his head at the rogue's success, but the scene is cut short as Sir Glorfindels reaction lights on fire. The flames rage and consume the rest of the ingredients on the table including William's in progress mixture. Atramor quickly pockets the Essence and shelters McCafferey from becoming the next main course. Essence of Obsidian x1 - Quest Item. The pandemonium is short lived, as shopkeeper returns and rushes in amongst the now billowing smoke. "Back! Get back you fools!" Removing his cloak, the shopkeeper quickly puts out the fire, but there is not much to save of the current supplies. "This is what I get for letting amateurs do my job for me! What were you thinking combining, Ennonian Rose Petals, Powdered Super Scarab Shell, and Mopagian Pale Root?!? You should be glad you didn't torch the entire place! Now unless you're planning to spend some real money, be on your way, and be glad I'm not making you pay for that set of supplies you just ruined." What will the Party do next?
  18. Jostling for room at the lab bench, William and Tarn attempt to create the essence in one fell swoop. Reaching over and around each other in the confined space, the two struggle until William gleefully holds up a newly synthesized bottle of Smelling Salts from his selection of ingrediants, which he accordingly places into his pack. However, William's joy is cut short as Tarn's reaction begins to boil over, sending splatters of acidic droplets all over. William ducks for cover, but Tarn takes a few spats on his hands, causing him 1 Damage, before the reaction finally slows. Smelling Salts x1 - Imparts the Hastened effect, allowing the target to act twice in one round for the duration of one battle. Tarn Valco (Played by Rumble Strike) Level 6 Barbarian Power: 15 Health: 12/13 Gold: 52 Inventory: Kyrferath, a Battle Ax (WP:9, water elemental), Pole-axe (WP:3), Bottle of Mead, Lightning Bomb, Potion x2, Tonic, Venom Remaining ingredients: Ennonian Rose Petals - 0 left Powdered Super Scarab Shell - 0 left Mopagian Pale Root - 0 left Waldruk Pine Nettles - 0 left Crushed Chimera Hoof - 0 left Ground Golem's Kidney - 0 left What will the Party do next? Remember, in order to continue, the party will have to pay 10 Gold to restock the solutions.
  19. Atramor, frustrated with the party's attempts thus far, hurriedly mixes his own solution. The reaction promptly begins to fizzle and then explodes with a loud bang, breaking the reaction flask, scaring McCafferey out of Atramor's hat, and leaving him deaf in one ear for several minutes. Remaining ingredients: Ennonian Rose Petals - 1 left Powdered Super Scarab Shell - 1 left Mopagian Pale Root - 1 left Waldruk Pine Nettles - 1 left Crushed Chimera Hoof - 1 left Ground Golem's Kidney - 1 left What combination will the Party try next? A reminder that it will cost the Party 10 Gold to restock the entire set of solutions if they run out.
  20. Seeing his party taking a beating, Skrall jams another bolt into his crossbow and lets fly another shot at the Dementor from the back row. "Dyric, go ahead and meet that fiend head on from the front row. We'll get your back should you take damage! Althior, I would encourage the same from you for this round. Everyone else let's hit 'em again like last time." Battle Order: Althior Namyrra Skrall Dyric Arasmyth Bob OOC: Masked Builder technically, Althior would have done 22 Damage against the Dementor assuming that he is using his Diamond (light) infused dagger, which gets double damage against demons, but which is canceled out because he was attacking from the back row. Also how will Sirius Black's attack work this round?
  21. Atramor gazes into the vial of Essence of Obsidian, the liquid inside is of average viscosity, average volatility, average weight, average density, average refractive index, average flammability, average polarizability, average solubility, and is colored an average black.
  22. Sorry, problem fixed I should be keeping better track of this. For pointing that out, I'll let you know that you're overthinking the riddle. This is a RPG quest not a chemistry course, though that gives me ideas for later quests Keep trying
  23. QM note: Anyone can try multiple times, but the results will only effect the mixer. Whomever the group decides should mix, should either do so in bold, or use the appropriate colors for indicating their choice.
  24. The knight, Sir Glorfindel, attempts to synthesize the elusive essence. His concoction yields a lovely fragerence capable of restoring 1 Health, however since he is already at full health, the perfume has no effect and evaporates away. Remaining ingredients: Ennonian Rose Petals - 1 left Powdered Super Scarab Shell - 2 left Mopagian Pale Root - 1 left Waldruk Pine Nettles - 2 left Crushed Chimera Hoof - 1 left Ground Golem's Kidney - 2 left What combination will the Party try next?
