  1. "No one's come out yet, I hope they're OK." "I don't know what you mean? Why would someone attack engineering? Are we being robbed, are we all going to die?"
  2. I don't think I ever imagined we'd get something like this in Heroica.
  3. "Some sort of explosion further forward in the train. Please Mam, evacuate further into the rear cars. The door to engineering should hold any residual danger at bay."
  4. While not as bad as the chaos of the Dining Car, the Business Car passengers are all clambering to get into the latter half of the train. The Steward while frazzled is trying to maintain order. "Please ladies and gentlemen, proceed in a orderly and calm manner." "You can be sure I'll be writing a review about this trip." "Watch out greenie, stop shoving." "I say this reminds me of my days in the war, bombs, explosions, rockets, such glorious days." "Aaaaaaa!!!"
  5. The drinks is unfortunately no where to be found, the Quarm however does have a wallet of 25 credits on him, a journal, and a key. "Um... well official policy in the event of a security situation is to have our passengers remain in their seats, but given your... backgrounds, I'm sure you can take care of yourselves."
  6. "That's just it there, most of these critters prefer to hunt alone or in small packs, there simply ain't enough food to sustain large populations. We had a few folks go scouting aboat, but they couldn't find anything and had to turn back after encountering their second group of Frost Hawks. As far as we can tell, it's only impacting the first stretch of the course here. We reached out to Snjótri, they're the next town a few days down the track and they haven't had any issues near them. Here..." The Cricet unfolds a map onto the table. "This is a map of most of the area of the first leg of the race and don't you worry you won't be going out there by your lonesome. We'll be reimbursing you to hire a sled-wyrm team and guide to help you cover the ground."
  7. Soren finds the dining car in even more of a disarray. The kitchen is on fire, though under control by the Quo'ri and the waitress, the Amourai's clothes are soaked from his wine, and Kish seems to have been knocked unconscious on the bar.
  8. "That we do, but unfortunately my budget only got me as far as Ebria. I'd like to see the Nendara System some day, but with the Æthergate out of commission, a trip like that... well I'd rather be spending my money on quality ingredients. Besides, I find food is almost as good of a conversation starter as any exotic place." "Sounds awful. I do wonder what the Undead make of it though. Apparently some of them got enough worth sticking around for."
  9. "They're an insectoid species, big claws, lots of teeth." Mervin takes a drink of his own cocoa, "Kristal Ice, they're a mining conglomerate that owns nearly a third of the planet dontcha know. They've got a defrosting station out by the Guffa Flats. They've got their own security keeping the facility clear, beefed it up too after the drake."
  10. "With that sort of soldiering background, I'm sure you'll fit right in, Max. Personally, I'm not one for much violence. It has it's place in the world, but I find most sapient creatures turn to it as a means for solving a problem first without considering its repercussions. Thankfully, Heroica seems to value problem solving of all varieties." Valesia signals for another drink, "Corvanis, that's in the Nendara System right?
  11. Not at all, you three are doing just fine and the last bit of conversation there where everyone is trying to get on the same page is just perfect. I'm hoping no one is IRL upset, but the character development is just superb.
  12. "Of course, of course, but first drinks." Those who had ordered have their beverages of choice arrive piping hot. Polaris feels decidedly refreshed by the hot cocoa skillfully prepared (+2 Skill for next battle), while the strength of the black coffee bolsters his energy (+2 Strength for next battle). "Now then, down to brass tacks, no? I'm on that there board of directors organizing the Ivishin as you're all aware. Well I tells you, a few weeks back we started having an influx of a whole slew of predatory critters; frost hawks, polar gators, glacier mongers, thankfully nothing as big as the rime drake we had circlin' the place a few months back, but still. Just the sheer number of them is becoming a problem though. Generally a handful here or there is typical and we can handle it or they just stick over by Kristal's where it's warmer. But with this many ravenous maws, its going to pose a safety danger to the Ivishin racers in a few weeks. And we really need this race to go through." Ronin Deception Proficiency vs. Enson Insight Proficiency - (3, 6, 1, 2) 1 Success vs. (3, 1, 6, 4) 2 Successes Enson sense that Ronin seemed to matter of fact given his hesitancy earlier from the hall and is fairly convinced the statement was false.
  13. It was a good speech, unfortunately Zaria's hope of a calm and collected rest were interrupted as an explosion from one of the lead cars rocked through the train. "What the?!?!" "Heavens above, I'm never going to make my meeting now." "We're under attack, every species for themselves!" "Everyone please remain calm and in your seats!"
  14. Works for me. I'm ok with this, I wouldn't add the restriction yet. If a MM really doesn't want one of their big boss to get hit they can add in immunities or other methods to lessen the chance.
  15. MM Note: Zaria is in Economy along with Yelana. The fellowship is reunited.
  16. "Not a whole lot unfortunately. This is a passenger train, not an armored transport. Best we can do is radio ahead to the authorities stationed in Con'Stop. The engine is certainly reinforced and that door is constructed to not let anyone in from this side." "Um, Marta, we're picking up velocity again. Stranger, I'd suggest finding your seat, we'll inform the pilot of the danger we're in and see if we can find a route to shake whatever is following us."
  17. To the members of Mission 1, thank you for your patience with your fellow players, this has been a lot of running for each of you separately.
  18. "That would explain the drop in velocity, I just thought it was the power generator." "See, I told you that new fuel was working, that stuff literally sings." Soren Technology Check (DC 3) - (6, 4, 6, +1) 4 Successes As Soren dismantles the drone he finds a small little insignia stamped into the inner circuit board, "B".
  19. "Well thanks! I'll drop it off in the Dining car on my way through."
  20. That one is a bit underwhelming I think, how about the two consumable per turn? Not a bad idea, we'd just have to shift the "Tinkering Hands" trait. Maybe something along the line of they can carry more tools or can create a tool on the fly a number of times per quest? Maybe demons and undead?
  21. The stewardess escorts Zaria back to the Economy Car returning in a few minutes with a pair of chintzy sunglasses. "Now, I'll make sure Engineering gets your message." Soren Persuasion Proficiency Check (DC 1) - (6, 1, 4) 2 Successes "I mean, we're the only line servicing between Parous and Con'stap, so it's not like we have any competition there. Besides dontchya know the Express is a landmark piece of history, no way anyone would want to hurt it." "Wait, what does he mean by crawling. We're clocking in at over 1500 kph, someone would have to be insane to try holding on to the outside of the train." "I saw a set of lights a while back, figured it was some sort of solar flare, but the time of day didn't make sense."
  22. "Don't mention it, Bub. I mean it, can't be stocking everyone's favorite tea around here." Valesia swirls her drink, "Well met Max. I'm Valesia, aspiring chef and recently returned unclogger of garbage chutes. Taffy, caramel?" The Cladrasith pulled a few candys from her satchel. "I was hoping to work for the hotel, but they had already filled the position upon my arrival so I decided to take out a few mercenary jobs while I waited for another vacancy. And given the quality of the food..." Valesia looks over at Thorvald, "I'm sure it won't be long." Taking another drink from her glass, Valesia continues. "As for other Elves, I'm only aware of one other in the guild and I've maybe seen one or two others on the station so far, I was under the impression a lot of your species like to stick to themselves."
  23. Soren casts Elemental Bolt at Drone - (5) 1 Success = 1 Damage (-1 Spirit) Soren's icy ray freezes the drone to the floor. Upon inspection the cold seems to have stopped its circuitry, but the pilot is able to make out a small camera and sensor array mounted to the chassis. The Cricet gives out a low whistle. "Well now, butter my biscuits. Ain't that peculiar." "What is it?" "Looks like some sort of spy drone."
  24. No worries, my current plan is to use slides similar to Heroica Fantasy (albeit a little smaller since there aren't as many rules for each class).
