Skrall walks back into the hall, after a quick glance at the quest board he makes his way up the stair. Ordering a tankard of ale, he has a seat at the table. "Mr. Ablesword," he nods "good to see ya again." Addressing Atramor and Boomingham, "Well that went just lovely didn't it?"

I like the change as it gives a nod to the Cleric's miracle as well as to the offensive nature of the Barbarian. I think other people will want the Shaman to lean further towards the Barbarian by changing meditate, but I think it is at least now a competetive class.

Heroica RPG - Quest #40: The Strivvian Job

As they walked along, Skrall comments, "So, let's see, we have nothin' but the Armory comin' here in the past few months from Eubric, a vague map leadin' somewhere into the desert, a kidnappin', a bunch of slaves, and boxes from Eubric without an account of any ship bringin' 'em here. If I had to guess seems to me things changed ships mid voyage, whether 'twas planned for or not, we still have to find out." "Tell me, Servus is it? Did ya have a chance to chat at all with the other chaps in the cage next to ya on stage?" -

Skrall followed Boomingham, he looks over his shoulder at the Orc slave, maybe when he had been younger but not today. He lowered his head bringing up the rear of the party. -
That makes more sense, now that I think about it. And Scuba, don't worry too much about the delay, we all have computer issues at some point.

Sorry busy day, plus Skrall lost on the Orc and could kind of care less about the human. He's still keeping his eye on the gnome though.

Skrall knew he couldn't top the bid unless the salesmen would be interested in his dabloon, he turned his head away, finished with the bidding process. As the Orc was handed over to his new owner, Skrall made sure to keep track of where the gnome was going. -

OoC: So does that mean someone raised it to 400? It's somewhat unclear as the auctioneer sounds like he's asking someone to bid 400. Skall could just see the tip of the Gnomes hat, "410" -
Ummm... not sure why you need my opinion, but when I created Haldor's Bear Claws I had Barbarians mostly in mind, though Rogues and Beast Warriors seems like a logical choice as well. Looking at actual weapon type availability: Barbarian: 6 Cleric: 4 Knight: 5 Mage: 4 Ranger: 4 Rogue: 5 Assassin: 8 Berserker: 9 Black Knight: 9 Druid: 8 Evoker: 8 Hunter: 10 Mystic Knight: 9 Paladin: 8 Raider: 11 Sage: 7 Shaman: 9 Sorcerer: 8 Warden: 9 Witch: 9 Alchemist: 6 Beast Warrior: 8 Cannoneer: 1 Chi Monk: 0 Dragoon: 3 Harlot: 2 Infiltrator: 7 Minstrel: 1 Necromancer: 7 Skirmisher: 4 Mime: 20 Paragon: 14 Prophet: 10 It's interesting to note how the Advanced classes and Master classes have the most choices, while the some of the Expert classes have the lowest variety of any class. As far as flexibility goes: Basic Class: Barbarian Advanced Class: Raider Expert Class: Beast Warrior Master Class: Mime (Obviously )

I think it adds more value to phoenix essences and druids. When it comes down to it, loss of 1/3 a level isn't so much of a loss anymore it feels.

I'm up for it, but I would request that the 24 hour rule be strictly enforced. The more people on a quest, the longer it takes to get things done unfortunately and it's harder to keep up the flow of a conversation or momentum of an action, when you're waiting for people's reply another 18 hours later.

No my point was when a Hunter isn't fighting a favored type, it still does damage 2/3 of the time, but it's power is reduced as Marking the Favored does as much damage as a normal hit as opposed to a Ranger whose Triple Shot does 3x normal damage.

I agree, I think the bulk-investigator role was ingenious, even though the scum found out about it early on. It came with the benefit that you could investigate two townies on the same night, so potential if the other was killed, you would have a reading on the remaining target, not to mention if you happened to "clear" one of your targets by some other form, you got the other person as a bonus. The role's power was balanced by the fact that if the scum had a framer, all they would have to do was frame the investigator to give him basically insane results, should he target himself and another unknown individual. -

"I ain't fer all of this yer majesty, but I ain't fer my head on a pike either. Ya can have yer morals an' all Paladin, but don't expect that of the rest of us. If ya order me to charge the stage I will, but I ain't doin' it out of any moral obligation." Skrall hisses under his breath, he looks again at the orc in chains. Was he really just going to leave him like that? For all he knew, the orc could have committed some horrible crime and was just serving out his sentence. -

I unfortunately never got the Kingdom's Maiden, thus now I can say without a doubt it is from the CMF Viking woman. -
I'm open to what people perceive are the strengths and weaknesses of the advanced classes as well.

"Hmmm. The orc looks like a friend of mine I used to know. I may have to give you a run fer yer money Minotaur." Skrall trods over to Boomingham. "As much as I ain't fer it, I think we should let the girl go. She isn't one of the ones we're after and she probably don't feel any worse fer bein' a slave as that's all the life she's ever known. I think we need to wait fer when some of the other men get up on the block." -

Alrighty then. Playing a compulsive vig was sort of a pain but it was fun at the same time. I figured I was pretty much screwed when Foog was assumed to be the vig during day 3 and had to figure out how to keep from being accused of being a SK should I be caught targetting someone. Thankfully enough of you gave away town tells that I was comfortable claiming to you, Scouty in particular, followed by Scuba. My kills weren't rocket science and mainly based on who was contributing what and how they were going about doing it. As far as balance, I do think it was maybe a bit skewed in the towns favor, but you've got to look at it this way: with the amount of killing abilities on the town's side, there was a greater propensity that we were going to end up killing each other instead of scum, even though it didn't turn out that way. Overall and I've said this before, this was one of my favorite mafia games and I applaud TPRU for his tremendous work on it. On to player thoughts: Scouty: I'm sorry I had to turn on you during the last moment, we were proving to be quite the team taking out the scum one at a time. You did an excellent job in your analysis of players and helped us secure the votes when it was vital during the lynches of Genaro and Bob. As the protector, you did a fairly good job of keeping yourself hidden and revealing yourself to the right people. Your attitude to keep an open mind, even if it was to consider such a preposterous idea as two scum factions having the exact same name and not needing to fulfill their written win condition was refreshing and encouraging to here from a townie instead of getting tunnel vision on a specific candidate. Good game sir. Darkdragon: Even though this was only your second game as scum, you have definitely improved! You made the decisions and risks that needed to be made, even when it would have been easier to just give up and join the rest of the decimated scum team. I didn't know what to think when I was converted to a neutral and didn't even assume that it had anything to do with a conversion to scum. The day you contacted me about being converted, I think I was furious, sad, frustrated, hopeful, and paraonid all at the same time. Our 4 PM pages of WIFOM trying to figure out who was lying and who was telling the truth was exhilerating and nail-biting, exactly how mafia should be. You made a big bet and you pulled it off for the most part, even though we basically shot ourselves in the foot by neither of us telling the other the entire truth. I look forward to more games with you, hopefully playing on the same side from the start. Dragonator: I don't think I ever doubted that you were the town blocker, but your attitude sure didn't help. You played a good game and helped lead the town when it counted. I at least have to thank you for your willingness to try and stop the conversion, I could have seen players of different attitudes just ignoring my plea for help, letting me get converted and then killing me the next day just to save the trouble, it really showed a townie-centered play style. Aside from being dead set on Pandora and Rick being mafia, which was partly my fault, you did great. Scuba: Dude, even though you can come off as rude sometime, I think you play these games all out and even though you can get a little tunnel vision sometimes, you can be a great asset when it comes to duking things out in thread and strategizing behind the scenes. If you ever lose your combative attitude when I'm playing, I will personally see to it that your are lynched on the spot for being too nice. It was a blast playing with you. Chromeknight: I wished I could have told you more and strategized with you further, but I was trying to juggle too many balls at once, mainly Scuba (my outside contact), Scouty (my inside contact), and DD (the scum who was trying to convert me). You were very involved in this game and I appreciate that in townies, even if some of your analysis may have been wrong at times, keep it up and I'm sure you will go far. I'll add more later, but these were off the top of my head before lunch. -
So question of the slightly random time period. What are the advantages and disadvantages you see for the advanced classes. I'd be interested in knowing how they are perceived or evaluated (should you have already chosen one) and why exactly you chose the class you did. Since I've gotten to know the Hunter class fairly well I'll give my take on it. The Hunter's strength lies in prolonged battles, the more enemies of a single type the better. Short and quick battles with enemies of a variety of types can really throw off a Hunter's stride. I have noticed that while a Hunter gets a 3x multiplier, the rest of his attacks generally do average to less than average damage when he's attacking an unfavored enemy, (Shield, Hit, Aim). The Hunter's other three rolls are composed of taking hits (Special Damage, Damage) and one better than average strike (Critical hit). Hunter's have a moderate health bonus and their real plus comes from staying in the back row, as SP is generally limited. The Hunter's weakness is undeniably a variety of enemies from battle to battle, without that favoring and apart from the moderate HP bonus, they are actually less effective than normal Rangers. For me, I chose Hunter as it fit Skrall's RPing the best, plus the ability to do a ton of damage without having to play elemental rock-paper-scissors was slightly appealing.

Skrall watches as the spectacle unfolds in front of him, he glares down at those giving him dirty looks, a slight growl eminating from his throat. "What to do? Can't fight 'em off, too many of 'em. Perhaps if we can convince the folks not to buy from the slaver's we'll have a chance at settin' 'em free on their way to the quarries?" he silently thought to himself. Skrall moves over to the Minotaur in the crowd. "Mornin'. This Blackhawk's a new one to me, where's the rest of his competition, I was expectin' a bigger selection of sellers today." Skrall listens to the rest of the slaver's speech. "Any idea how honest he is about his goods?" -

Skrall offers a departing groan at Boomingham's last comment before he trails Ellaria, "The sins of the father shouldn't effect the treatment of the son." Skrall sidles in closer to the crowd trying to over hear the bidding. -

Skrall glances at the Orc in chains, but quickly diverts his eyes before sighing, "A few ideas; we could try actually biddin' on one of those slaves we think is part of the Town Watch. Or more effectively, we send one of us in there as a slave to be handed over, then once they've gotten the intel from inside the pen, one of the rest of us buys 'em back. If we want to go a bit more on the violent side, we have Nyx here start a fireworks display and while everyone's runnin' fer their lives from a mage on the loose, we sneak some of those slaves out. If we're thinkin' more long term, perhaps one of us could end up workin' as a bruiser and work the angle from the inside." -

We might have lasted a day longer, but Draggy wouuld have been saved from my kill and he would have been convinved by Scouty and my arguments to lynch you the next day. Eventually they would have caught onto me since I was the only one left with a kill.
