It's a good thing as William tries to go after Metamortus who slips past the Warden's defenses. Thanksfully Barty is there to repel the rockling, returning quickly to Boomingham to save him from a strike from Sedimentus, before the Paladin can counterstrike the Rockling's assult. Ellaria, summons the Roots of Life once more healing Boomingham to full strength as her natural affinity causes flowers and young trees to push their way through the cobblestones. 2. Results of Round 1 of the Rockling Riot Battle: Boomingham vs. Sedimentus - Guardian Angel >William vs. Gulk - Damage (William: 30 health+8 SP-(28/2=14 dmg)=24 health) >Ellaria vs. Ignetus - Roots of Life (William: 30 health+(26 health)=30 health) Metamortus - Free hit vs. Boomingham (Boomingham: 42 health+12 SP-(20 dmg)=34 health) Boomingham - Counterstrike vs. Metamortus (Metamortus: 150 health-(Level 20=20 dmg)=130 health) The scuffle begins with the crowd quickly giving the heroes space. Boomingham draws Scupperer but before he can slice at the Rockling, Barty appears out of thin air, the Guardian Angel preparing to generate a protective shield around the entire Party. William loads up the Croise's Crossbow, but still unaccustomed to the weapon, is not fast enough to dodge out of the way of the advancing Gulk, who pounds into the Warden's shield with a massive blow that is lessened by the Warden's armor. Ellaria prepares herself to fire at Ignetus, but upon seeing William taking a hit from Gulk, summons the Roots of Life to restore her entire party to full health. Metamortus sees his chance aims a blow at the Paladin landing a slight hit, Boomingham taking note of his assailant turns about and quickly counterstrikes the diminuitive shard of shale. With Barty to protect them the Party still faces the angry protesters. 4. "Looks like things are going to get rough. Gulk you better get over here!" "Grrrr..."
  5. "Swisshopper is unnegotiable, if you want to speak with him you'll have to get past us. We've held protests for too many months, today is the day we take action."
  6. "Finally a hero with some sense. Yes, my kind would be more than happy to help you and your companions with your quest. It ain't going to be easy getting Swisshopper to come out here and say he's going to close his business though."
  7. "Heroes, hah! Your pockets are lined with the gold of the wealthy while the rest of us barely survive. You traipse around in your fine capes with your pretty swords, forgetting the very ones who slaved away to dress you in such finery. Cheapness, that's what he's selling and making a mockery of our race by having us do it for him. Go back to that mercenary hall from whence you came from sir knight, perhaps your companions will yet have compassion."
  8. Thanks for having me DD. Remember folks, don't get too stressed out and have fun.
  9. "Smarter? If money equals wisdom then he is genius. No, my kind has served the people of this city from its early days as a fishing town. We have always produced the finest in garments of all kinds until Swisshopper and his coffers moved into town, buying up or out every single business that stood any chance of competing with them. Tailor after tailor has had to close up shop and to whom do they go to earn food for their families? Swisshopper! Nearly 3/4 of my people are employed by him and with that much of a work force he can turn out coats and cloaks at 1/16th the cost of the other merchants in town and pay his employees at 1/16th their normal fare as well, not to mention makin' them work twice as long." "As for working conditions, do you think any of his employees are going to lose their job by piping up? Sure he gives them enough to subsist on, but as far as sharing any of his wealth with his workers? You'd have to be dumber than a ogre to expect that. Your heroes you should be joining us, fighting against this injustice."
  10. Yeh, I saw something about that when I was in the guilds, I may return one day when I get the desert building itch again. I agree, I enjoy looking at lore, I'm not a big fan of any of the big movie franchises, but I love the behind the scenes/visual dictionaries they put out that expand the respective franchise universes. I don't have a ton of time to devote to such a large undertaking as well currently, but I would enjoy having the chance to read some of the unwritten stories that people never got to share in their respective quests.
  11. Sorry Flipz, there I would have to disagree with you. This is for more than just RPGer's. Yes we expect people to play by the written rules, but everything else is left to common courtesy, i.e. don't go messing with peoples NPC's without permission, don't try writing the backstory to someone else's faction, don't go changing the culture of an already heavily established race, etc. If someone just wants to take Heroica RPG up for casual amusement without investing a lot of time into it, they are free to do that. They are not required to do "at least a little research", yes it would be nice but it shouldn't be a requirement and we shouldn't expect that of them.
  12. Sounds like we need a wiki then, or would that be too cliche/unmanageable?
  13. I believe what you're referring to is this, Scuba. If it was completed, it would give a really good introduction to the different quests and how the mechanics have evolved over time.
  14. Anyone else feel like we need to start our own publishing house?
  15. You forgot favorite cultural dishes, style of reproduction, and music/lyrics/the arts. In all seriousness though, we have a plethora of different players on here, some people want to fill in every detail, some people just want to play for stats, others want to discuss how magic works, and many more are just concerned with having a good time with what they're given, it's the beauty of a collaborative RPG. Edit: Oh, I see you were being serious. I guess that proves my point. Some people want all the details, some don't, and I think we need both types of individuals..
  16. Quests 11 and 28 featured both were-hounds and were-wolves.
  17. I agree that for the sake of continuity I'll let Sandy have the reigns, I'm just trying to reconcile two of my quests that featured were-wolves as an anthropomorphic race before the issue of Beast-warriors/Wolfgang=Werewolves sprang up.
  18. "Ah good, heroes, just what we needed. Did ya come here to gawk or you going to make yourselves useful? This band of rocklings is disturbin' the peace, they won't listen to any reason. Mind clearin' them out?" "Disturbing the peace? Au contrair, my good watch man, we are merely protesting the unfair treatment by Master Swisshopper of his employees and the terrible impact he has had on the rockling population here in Eubric. In the past week he closed down 3 tailors, 2 cobblers, and a haberdasher. Gone. Out of business. Undercut by this... this... businessman."
  19. It's a rather convoluted subject. There exist were-races, which are the true anthropomorphic species which include were-panthers, were-hounds, were-wolves, and at some point to be introduced in the future the Fledermaun, or were-bats. On the flip-side you have those suffering from lycanthorpy a disease/condition more than likely caused through the were-races interbreeding or by some other unknown origin. Due to the fact that they are not pure-bloods, these individuals are often viewed more like distant cousins to the were-races.
  20. The embassy functions similar to the NPC index, except it is for races as Scorpiox mentioned. One of the coolest thing about this RPG is the continuity from quest to quest, even though they are run by different people. Having the index allows for people to draw on the cultural history/background that has been developed for a certain race previously. Now this is not to say that people have to follow these defining characteristics, as in real life there are always exceptions, offshoots, and sects, but this helps gather all the previous knowledge laid down by other QM's into an easy to use and reference source. You've actually done a good job in developing the metasimian race and even though the background was established by Sandy and even though they aren't on their home continent, I'd love to see you expand on how they function in the Eubric society and still possibly retain some of their roots.
  21. The party leaves for Swisshoppers. As they approach the tailor's shop they are greeted by a reasonable size crowd gathered around what seem to be a picket line. "Swisshopper must go!" "We won't stand for any more of this!" "Puny tailor!"
  22. Thanks guys. Scorpiox, great job in setting the stage for one of the most interesting (in my opinion) subjects of this RPG. I can't wait for when the bio/histories start rolling out.
  23. I always wondered what would happen at this moment in the quest, glad I don't have to break out the thunder and lightning.
  24. "Thank you. Thank you. You've know idea the load that takes off my mind, not having to worry about robbers or thieves in the night. I just knew that if I did the right thing that Mercutio would smile down upon me. Now, I don't know if Swisshopper's was aware of the mistake, one of the clerks dropped it off earlier in the week and I've been fretting in here ever since, but I'm sure he could at least point you to its original owner." "As to compensation, remember you're carrying around a 7000 Gold cloak! I'm sure it's owner will be more than happy to reward you for its return. However should you bring me back my own cloak, I can spare at least 50 Gold and a Nostrum for each of you."
  25. Skrall strode back into the hall, a group of newer heroes had settled at one of the tables, so he bid the Thothwick, Arthur, and Benji to another. "Now then, Mr. Thothwick, I don't think I ever got from whence you came, yer experiences prior to our meeting in Dastan and all of that."
