  5. I think we've started a misguided trend of thinking that Shield rolls have to be the most awesome aspect about a class. While this is often the case, I think this is a little narrow-minded. I think that video that Flipz posted about "Power-creep" is very enlightening and when I look back on my own gaming experience I can see that it is true. The really great games of my past weren't solely based on winning by obtaining more power until I could wipe anything out with a single click of my mouse or the push of a button, they were the ones that offered a variety of ways to "win", whether this was through sheer strength, overwhelming numbers, speed and precision, strategy and tactics, wit or deception, the key thing that kept me coming back to them was options. Tying this into Heroica, a player's class doesn't need the most awesome shield to "win", the class needs something they are good at and can use to their advantage to "win". For Hunters, it's our ability to do lots of damage, we do damage 2/3 of the time and if we're attacking a favored enemy that sometimes means that even our AIM's are as powerful as another player's HIT's. Our strong-suit isn't muscling through enemies with our Shield roll, it's muscling through our enemies no matter what we roll. This is simply another technique of "winning" that adds to the variety of the game and if it means I give up having an awesome shield, I'm OK with it.

William noticing the bolstered constitution of his companions erects his Aura in order to absorb any incoming attacks, managing to halt the Dwarven technicians blow to Boomingham just in time.   10. I am starting to see Zepher's point and agree that every class should have some sort of weakness. That's what keeps this game from becoming merely a power race. Balance, variety, versatility, these are the things I find interesting about heroica. If you want to argue about power than I should demand that a Hunter's shield roll is at least as powerful as a critical hit, but that's not the point of my class. The point of my class is to do damage often and have it focused on one opponent. Hunter's are horrible against big groups especially when they have multiple monster types, but that is my weakness and from an outside non-biased perspective, I'm glad I have it.
  11. Jinx is just another effect, theoretically, a player could be jinxed, lucky, hastened, slowed, encouraged, and weakened at the same time and still function as normal. And yes Scrolls are affected by Lucky/Jinxed if my memory serves me correct as Arthur and his "rain of status effects" demonstrated some time back I believe. You should read Q53, I don't know how many times Hoke has rolled "enchant" in a row, you'd think he was a broken record.

  18. Witch is more of the wild card as far as cleric and rogue combinations go. They can heal, inflict poison/deadly poison on their strikes, and hex and mirror special damage are thrown into the mix to always keep a QM on his toes. I like it mostly how it is currently, though I do acknowledge that hex could use a little bit of a buff, but only a little in my opinion, perhaps let it last 3 rounds instead of 1?
  19. Hey Skrall's a potential canadite as well. Witch is an awesome class, but they currently aren't structured do be damage dealers which is what the demonic scissors are great for unless you're going for multiple status infliction. Even then, with enemy healths climbing higher and higher, poisoned (and even deadly poisoned to some extent) is becoming less and less effective.
