Heroica RPG - Quest #138: Fade To Black

Skrall turned to Jinnipher, "And all I've heard from ya, Miss. Is how yer going to kill this beast on your lonesome. Ya might have had a good deal of experiences in the past, but they aren't comin' in handy right now. Ya've been gone from this country from how many years was it? Do ya really think yer the best judge of what's really goin' on here?" The ogre takes a spray of mist directly in the face. Skrall pauses and wipes his face with his hat before turnin' to Lind unaffected. "I ain't sayin' we go back home at the moment, but I'm gettin' more and more of a feelin' that Faust was all but truthful. I came here to hunt the dragon, yes, but I ain't slayin' somethin' fer a crime it didn't commit." -

"Bounties a plenty it sounds like. What if we were interested in workin' for Vorpalis himself? I'm sure he could use a skilled group capable of hunting down the last remaining points of resistance with quick precision." -

"From my understanding the dragon has only been targeting the followers of Faust, who if these two's story is true, backed the wrong horse. The dragon would be due his revenge and I agree with Sandman, the king's behavior is more suited a coward than a courageous general. I do question the use of the fog however. If the wyrm is in his right than why resort to such a barbaric means of control as opposed to ruling with reason and wisdom. I'd think the dragon would be more concerned with having citizens as opposed to corpses. What guarantee can you give that my companions would stay unharmed by the beast if we follow you?" Skrall waited for a response as he noted Flynn turning on the machine. -
The guards shifted uncomfortably as another tremor shook through the ground as the Party stood at the eastern outskirts of the city. "Nur here fits the right time and I could have sworn one of you was carrying an axe. You're willingness to deceive only strengthens my feelings that something isn't right. You might have won the ear of the High Chief, but I doubt he would have been so kind if he knew about..." At that moment Tesni shows up just as the ground quakes and shakes, however it is no natural disaster as a giant scarlet head lined with teeth breaches the surface near by the party. Moments later a second worm surfaces as guards and the party go tumbling about due to the convulsing earth. After regaining their feet the Party notes the two worms stand between them and the city and Dumora and the guards, the path to the Eastern Depot clear. What does the party do?

Skrall crossed his arms and pondered the ogre's story. "So we've got an old 'he said she said' feud and of course neither party seems to have enough evidence to prove the other wrong so they've just take to tryin' to kill' each other, right?" -

"Pity, ain't it." "Nathuz to be specific, but it's been years since I've been there. Concerning Faust, it seems there's been some miscommunication then, mind sharin' the dragon's side of things? Also out of curiosity, how much is my head goin' fer these days?" -

Skrall grunted at the other Ogre, "Not often ya seen two of us in the same place. We're just simple folk passin' through, not lookin' fer trouble, I'd hope you are as well." -
QM Note: Sorry folks, got pulled onto an extra 8 hour shift at work, big update coming in another 24hrs. The guards lower their weapons at Ellaria's presenting of the V2 Form. Dumora starts fuming as a slight tremor shakes the ground. "Whose been killed? The Naga your friend the mage here was being so cordial with yesterday evening. Her body was found dead in the streets early this morning as I was making my way out of town for Krumpknob, her body hacked to pieces by what resembled axe wounds. After alerting the guards and questioning some of the local residents and Cog's & Company whose door she was found outside of, I discovered the last person she had been seen accompanying was surprise, surprise, your bodyguard, Doctor, if you really are doctor that is. Something's been fishy ever since you showed up down here. "

Skrall bent down and handed over the remedy, "I've faced down bigger things that didn't live long enough to learn to be scared of me, little one. Keep yer head up and yer wits about ya." -
As Ellaria and Atramor begin to make their way towards the Eastern Depot they are stopped by a group of armed city guards. "Just one moment, miss. You wouldn't happen to be a Dr. Arbour, now would you? "Good, this way." The Vindicator places the weapons within her pack, frowning as she surveys them. The group headed back into town just as Ellaria and Atramor were being stopped by a group of guards. Dumora addresses the guards. "Good work gentlemen, now we just need to find the fierce one." The vindicator turns to Ellaria "You're being held as accomplices in a murder, so please don't make this unpleasant. I will go into details, but first where is your other companion?" "Ah, a weapon such as that would cost you upwards of 350 Gold."

Skrall looked down at the little one and his mother, "No offense taken, besides there's much bigger things than me roamin' 'round these parts. Caution is a friend to both the weak and the wise. We don't carry rations with us, is there anything else ya could use?" -
"May your journey be a profitable one then, my children and know that Orrik accepts all who eventually come to him." Atramor and Ellaria bid farewell to the High Chief and before exiting receive a V2 Form from the attendant that would grant them movement through out the under-mountain with ease, being on the High Chief's personal business. "Save it for the High Chief. I'll be holding on to your weapons in the meantime." Does Nur relinquish his equipment?

"We'll head through the forest then. Are ya travelin' with us Sputnik?" -
"Yes indeed, I do know about Ms. Copperstrike. A valiant soul isn't she? See my assistant on the way out and tell him you need a Form V2, he'll see to the rest. And finally, my dear children, tell me about your current standing with the Smith Father Orrik?"
-
Actually assuming you have all the gems already, with only 990 Gold, you can have a SP 90 shield pretty quickly and be immune to all elements. I'd say SP 2 is plenty and then make it un-upgradable.
-
Nope, that is not how it works. Also check the Rules Page/FAQ, Sandy's pretty good about getting that updated.

"The Naga you were with last night. She was found dead in the streets this morning, you were apparently the last one seen with her." "Done. As I said, the Mythril trade has led to the success of these cities and my blood would boil if there was some nefarious scheme to have them crumble. It is good to know that the kindness of your organization still extends over all these years. Tell me, has anyone else been assisting you with this endeavor?"

Skrall sat quietly letting Lind and Jinnipher hash things out, it needed to happen at some point and better now than when facing the dragon. As the shouting settled and calmer conversation ensued the ogre interjected. "Fog or no, the beast may not be as helpless as we make him out to be. The machine will definitely be needed, but I'm not sure if a full on assault is still the best course of action. For the time being we stick together. It's not a matter of numbers or abilities, we simply do not fully know everything we are dealing with and until that time, we're keeping all options open." Skrall turned to Lucy, "What can you tell us about the state of Algon?" -

OoC: What time is it currently in quest? From my understanding we woke up in the morning, headed to the cathedral and then popped over to where we're at currently. Skrall tipped his hat to Karie, "No intention of frightenin' ya, ya just seemed a little off. Any idea what ya saw?" The ogre turned to the scientist. "Disperse the fog ya say? But for what purpose? From my understandin' the dragon seems to be leaving this community alone." -
The robed dwarf furrows his brow. "Ah, I see my apprentice was in error. I am very familiar with Heroica and their aid they have given these fine cities in the past. The mythril shortage weights heavily upon me, it has always been the life-blood of the three clans, creating prosperity and wealth each in their own way. The golems have always been a problem since your organization's last dealings with them, though not one we couldn't handle, and certainly not as bad as before. Dark dwarves are always thieving, though this news of an entire piece of equipment gone missing is out of the ordinary, I'll see to it that the city watch is alerted. This Xor fellow, he works at the Eastern Depot, I believe. Do you have proof that he is stealing the mythril and if so where is it going? The trade commission has been keeping track and it simply seems that production is simply low coming out of the mines, perhaps the veins are finally drying up after so many years of digging." Tesni heads back to Fodmin's, the familiar sounds of hammered and forged metal greeting her as she enters the shop. "Ah, the sword mistress returns! And to what do I owe the pleasure, my lady?"

Skrall attempted to physically separate Lind and Warlen, "I thought I'd have to be dealin' with Jinnipher and ya, not the two of you. Now can ya behave yerselves for just five minutes?" The ogre turned back to Lucy, "Pleasure to meet ya. My name is Skrall and this is my party, Warlen, Jinnipher, Karie, and... well Flynn has done a fine job of introducin' himself. The hot springs sound absolutely delightful. Tell me, how has your community managed to stay relatively untouched by the great wyrm?" -
Atramor and Ellaria head for the Temple of Orrik. Upon arriving, the pair are ushered into a small antechamber by an attendant and minutes later are greeted by the high priest of Orrik. "My assistant has informed me that you wish to speak to me on the matter of conversion. Let me be the first to say that Orrik passes no judgement on your race nor your background and welcomes all unto himself. Speak plainly of your needs my children." Leaving Tesni by herself in the tavern, Nur makes his way outside of town to the East Depot. The mage can see the large operation from afar, but is stopped by a familiar Dwarven vindicator chasing after him. "So, thought you and your villainous friends could make a quick escape out of town did you?"
