Loving the look of the Skip Truck. Definitely glad that there are some smaller non-low profile and non-off road tyres to use as these are much needed. As skppo says I actually like the idea of sets being non-powered with included instructions for adding PF if you want it. Reminds me of the old days Definitely going to purchase this ... and the Plane if it looks as good as we're expecting based on the poor image we've had so far. So how long till we know what all the sets look like ?

[TRIPLE] Wind-up insectoids WIP
Seasider replied to Lipko's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow ... great model ... I'd leave it with a single pair of wings and call it a Mosquito. Looking forward to see what else you come up with. -
[TRIPLE] Let's Go Gliding !
Seasider replied to Seasider's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
What I meant with the engine was for a piston you have the conrod and the piston and in my mind theyre a single part when combined ... Once I've put them together I never separate them. I think I'll be ok with the part count though. More pics to follow soon ... the truck is almost complete ... the glider has had some rework at the back and has the fuselage boom but no tailplane or wings ... I haven't touched the canopy either Jim ! ... and I haven't considered the trainer yet ! -

Well its a bit of a Dark Grey overload as I have the seat the same colour ... do all the parts of the engine count in the part count ? -

OK time for some pictures So far we have a Cockpit, a rough size for some wings and a basic chassis to be developed further including a Flat 6 engine (the seat is a place marker borrowed from my Unimog) ... oh and an unattached pickup bed that I'm still trying to work out Not happy with the cockpit canopy at the moment I'll most probably change it be being made of axles and connectors rather than beams. And I've still to consider how the wings are to attach ... and how to build the trailer too ! -
Good questions rm8 1. Is it valid to do a car and a truck ? 2. Is a trailer eg one towed by a car or truck , valid as 1 of the 3 models?

Great a competition im looking forward too. I tried to make a camper in technic but failed with fitting it in the scale. The only downside is I'll be moving house over Christmas so could prove interesting with having to bag up the Lego. Time to get my thinking cap on!

Here we go, the model is pretty much finished and I'm about to go away for a few days on a much deserved holiday, so I thought I'd leave you with some pics. I've managed to get it 95% complete ... a few things left to finish and tidy ... steering (which skips but I know why as my rack is floating at the moment), IR reciever location (I think i might leave the battery pack as drop in behind the seats as its the perfect size). Things I've done ... body is fixed via a pivot at the rear and 2 blue pins at the front, removed the winch and added an extra set of lights which are controlled by the switch which i've positioned as a gearstick/shifter, moved the exhausts to the rear Enjoy. I'll most probably finish the odd bits after holiday before my next plan ... and yes I'm aware my chassis perhaps isn't the most efficient, hopefully I'll improve with practice!

Yes I think if you push the arch up a beam but also make the body 1 beam deeper it would work better. I rescued some blue beams from the body where they were used as the support structure for the bonnet/boot/glasshouse assembly. But that is a later Mod ... Going to see this through first. If you can get it such that the wheel centres lie on the same plane or higher that the bottom of the sill (body between the wheels) then that should look good.

Thanks for the pics rm8, I think that confirms it I'm going to continue down my current path with this wheel/tyre combo. I think the top pic of your 3 the wheels look too small, but something between what I have and those would be perfect and I don't like the wheel/tyre ratio for a car like this if I went the 8070 route, also in your pics you'll need a beam gap between the top of the tyres and the arch so you can have steering on the front. If I get a chance I'll post an updated chassis on Sunday night, I've had a few thoughts about mods

Sounds like I better get up in the loft tonight then and find my 8285 set and see what those wheels/tyres look like. FuzzyBallz - any chance of a photo of it on 8070 wheels/tyres before I go and buy some?

rm8 - what lower profile tyres can I get for these rims? Personally I thought US muscle generally ran on deeper profile tyres than European and Japanese performance cars GDomino - I've no idea how long its going to take me to finish and no idea how to go about making instructions up, but ill definitely post a load of pictures of the finished model so hopefully someone could reverse engineer

I agree they shouldn't make any more of them. It was intended to be Limited so let it be that, if they suddendly made more they'd be a lot of upset people who bought it for it's Limited status ... I bought it as its Limited and a great set Take Ferrari for example, Enzos' philiosphy was to always make 1 less car than the number of people interested in it, that way there's always 1 person in the world who wants one.

Well hopefully below you'll see my Work-In-Progress BOSS mod ... can't call it a 4x4 Crawler anymore! First job was to remove the body and make it a single assembly, I've done most of this as you can see, it's a little messy in places and I'm still working on the front lights/bumper and removing the winch and working out how to attach it all. Second job was to work out the positioning of the wheels and then put together a very quick chassis to hold them in place. I haven't added any motors etc yet it was just to work out the wheel to body relationship and give me a package envelope to work with. I think the underbody is going to be angled at the front and rear and hopefully raised in the middle so the body looks a lot thinner there. Wheels are from the recent GP car in case you wondered (I'm hoping the MOC hot rod gets some instructions released at some point !)

just finished building the Boss ... going to enjoy it as it is for a couple of days and then build a new chassis to drop it ... need to get some new wheels/tyres off bricklink for what I'm planning though. hopefully next week or the week after they'll be pics

I'll build it, but not put the stickers on and perhaps mod it. I can't stand people who keep stuff mint, where's the fun in that ?
-
I'll mod once I've built the original and appreciated it. One question why did it end up with a white wing surely black would be more representative of actual cars I think I'm going to make a second chassis at a standard height, not sure if this will be r/c or a non powered model with engine etc
