Yeah, but they're still crap: And as for your latter statement: Salzo V3 kit. The paint job in this particular build is custom, so it's not perfectly screen accurate, but the size and shaping are near spot on. Even if it were less accurate, as you claim, I would still take a LEGO set over Hasbro, because as you mentioned, the former can be modified, more easily so than the latter.

I think why I choose not to leave comments is mainly because of these two, but also a little of all of the poll choices (with the exception of the last two). I consider my Eurobricks 'niche' in the Star Wars subforum, so most of my posts are within this subforum. Furthermore, the quality of the feedback I feel I can offer declines outside of the AFOLSW community, which ties in to the fact that I think generic one-word 'Wow!'-type comments don't really communicate much. I propose a Custom of the Week... On a related note, this thread reminds me of another thread which, if you disregard my behavior, deals with a similar subject...

Welcome to Eurobricks, Studs Not On Top! Can we call you SNOT? It's interesting to hear that you're an artist; we actually have a thread where members can showcase their non-LEGO artwork. It would be interesting to see some of your work there.

Very nice review, StoutFiles. Now, seeing this, I really do understand why you dislike this set so much - the whole thing really sticks out like a sore thumb when you consider the quality of the Star Wars sets we've been getting lately. All of your points seem justified - good minifigures, poor accuracy, childish play features... However, I feel that you have overlooked one aspect of this set which comes in as a big buying factor: the pieces included in the set. In this respect, this set reminds me of 7663, with a final result that's less than pleasing but with plenty of interesting pieces which (at least for me) are definitely a highlight of this set. Megaphones and telescopes, tubes, 2x2 jumper tiles, and the odd Technic piece or BURP, to name a few... all in all, this is a pretty decent parts pack, and there will definitely be some kids (or even AFOLs) who will pick this up just for all the great pieces it contains. What, that's it?

Same here, until I saw the gallery. Apparently, Attack of the Clones used a lot more studio models than one would have expected it to.

He really is a Brick Artisan. Welcome to Eurobricks, BrickArt!san! The SNOT work on your Camo Camion WIP is incredible!

On FBTB, everyone called him Jimmy.
-
You're probably thinking of Jedi Jimmy from 7163. Some have speculated that he was supposed to be George Lucas himself.

Thank you, Siegfried. At the moment I am using the latest version of Firefox with Windows 7. 1. Even after multiple tries, the problem persists. 2. The same. 3. I store 0MB on my cache, and browser options are set such that all cookies are cleared when I close the browser window. 4. Browsing as a guest and then logging in again doesn't seem to affect this/ 5. Explorer and Chrome give me the same results. 6. I only use this one computer... but a recent attempt elsewhere gave me similar results (the number next to my profile was "9". ). It's occurred to me that this only happens just before I receive a PM. And yes, this is still happening to me.
-
Having used our excellent PM system for a significant portion of my two years here, I am used to a white window appearing on my screen upon logging in to display a PM which has been newly sent to me, accompanied by a number next to my profile picture in the top right corner. Once I read the PM, the number usually disappears. The other day, I noticed that the number next to my profile picture wouldn't disappear until some time after I had read the topic. At the time of writing this, the number "3" is displayed next to my profile picture, even though my inbox shows that I have only received one new PM in the last four hours (and I have already read it) and even though the white window has only come up once in the last four hours with the aforementioned PM. Has anyone else been experiencing something like this? I have tried logging in and out several times, but that doesn't seem to be doing anything... EDIT: About fifteen minutes later, the number has climbed to "6"... EDIT2: Just now white window popped up - yes, just one - and all the numbers disappeared. It has been seven minutes since the last edit. EDIT3: And it's back - "21" sets a new all-time high...

MOC on, wokajablocka! And don't worry; improvement happens - just keep trying.

Actually, it's Brickdoctor's father that's the real doctor.

"This is getting out of hand! Now there are two of them!" Welcome to Eurobricks, TheLegoDr!

Oops! Ignore that.

Hey, look at Spongebob and Toy Story. Not to mention Hero Factory.* *No offense to any fans of those lines.

Looks like someone will have to move some posts again... Yes. But it's complicated.

I applaud the amount of thought you've put into capturing the shape of the Acclamator accurately! Have you tried hinged plates? (Something like what has been done here?)
-
Seconded, not only because it would work at this scale, but also because it would look really good.

Help us, Joe Johnston! You're our only hope!

Sorry to continue the off-topic discussion, but I'd just like to remind everyone:

Please do not take this the wrong way, hardcorowy; when I saw your solution for the nose of the Z-95 I immediately thought of those two X-wings (L-DI-EGO's and mine). There are few LEGO MOCers who are able to effectively capture the hexagonal cross-section of the nose (it happens to be somewhat of an obsession of mine); I hope you are happy to hear that you place among their ranks, and using yet another creative solution at that. I had initially thought that you may have had seen either of those and decided to base the nose off of what they did, and in my opinion there is nothing wrong with that so long as you give credit (how many people have based their T-47 MOCs off Larry Lars'?) However, I see now from the deconstructed image you provided that the build is not the same at all. Again, great work!
-
Coincidence? Or was it this? In any case, great solution for the nose!

Could you give us a clue as to what it is?

Another fantastic MOC, Brickdoctor! There are so many aspects of the original - the hollowed-out back of the head, the thick midsection, the spindly legs - that you've achieved in bricks, and the end result does a very nice job of recreating the "chicken walker" feel of the AT-ST; I applaud you for this. It is simply amazing how all the little details fit together seamlessly to create a quality look. The detail on the back of the head would have to be my favorite part of this MOC, as it resembles the original quite well, and the mix of greys and bleys you've thrown in throughout the build adds a nice touch. The greebling on the torso and legs is great as well; that's a rather clever use of the samurai helmet. And of course, the fact that you've managed to pull this off amongst your contributions to the RCB and, less recently, mafia games, are impressive as well. How does the angle at which the sides of the head taper compare to this? From the images you've provided, the angle appears to be a bit steeper on your model, but I can't tell for sure. I am also curious as to how big this is. Seeing as your AT-ST, in spite of having brickbuilt sides, is able to seat two minifigures side by side, it seems like it would be a little bigger than the ideal scale, since it is suggested by this and various scenes in Jedi that the head of the full-scale model is unable to seat more than one person comfortably. Then again, full-scale models are traditionally built undersized... A few minor nitpicks: - There should be another boxy section under the hexagonal area in the back, as seen here; it looks like that would be a quick fix though. - I am wondering whether it would be possible to relocate the ball joint so that it connects the inner leg to the torso because it appears from the beginning of this clip that the AT-ST's innermost joint has a greater range of motion than the one just outside it, which consists of a hinge. @wokajablocka; as fantastic as Brickdoctor's MOCs are, it seems to me that it is the fact that AFOLs constantly strive to further improve on their and each others' work that keeps the community alive. Just compare lowlead's T-47 with psiaki's and you can see just how much the AFOL community has changed over time.

I think part of the problem may be that the red surrounding the cockpit area is a bit "thin" and that the 'sloping surface assembly' is somewhat bulky. You may want to try partially SNOTing the sides (something similar to this) and bringing the cockpits closer to the nose, as seen here. Hope this helps.
