Since BasOne began a launch pad, it's only fitting that prateek should convert it into a defense turret. -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

However, hoping for Cloud City, a J-type 327 Nubian, and sets from Attack of the Clones, as many people have done here, is not. Personally I think a Theed Palace playset is more likely to include the Queen than a Nubian (which, as mentioned several times in this thread, is highly unlikely) but that's just me. -
The fact that we got two bomb defusers but no pilots in the last battlepack. @Oky Wan Kenobi: 'Two and a Half Sith' is brilliant, and Eeth/Agen's 'shopped grin in the first panel is great.

Here's a profile view of the TIE/ln from which we can see the shape of the wing panels: Looks like the 75 degree slopes would be the closest to the original. EDIT: However, if you choose to go with a different slope, you may want to use the SNOT method illustrated in this gallery.

Actually, I believe that particular MOC was vacuum metallized. -
I apologize if it seems like I'm being impatient and/or seeking too much attention, but it's been ten days and my PM system is still having this issue. I've tried Bonaparte's and Siegfried's suggestions multiple times but it still seems to be acting up. Granted, there seems to have been some improvement - the number to the right of my profile picture doesn't climb to something crazy like 9 before the white window pops up - but the number "1" has been there for about ten hours now, even though I haven't received a PM in five days and no new comments have been made on my profile.

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

If you want to interpret it literally, the most fitting concept would be the Orbital Nightcloak. But given how obscure the book is, it's certainly not a candidate for a LEGO set. -
Can't bring myself to build my Imperial Star Destroyer

Perhaps you should start being more critical of sets from the Star Wars license and acknowledge that there are bad sets as well as good ones. On the one hand, there are Star Wars sets which are absolutely amazing and may very well be considered by some AFOLs as "precious art". On the other hand, we have 6212 X-wing. Take 6211, for example. Now, this is undoubtedly one of the best sets in the history of the license, but like any LEGO set, it has its pros and cons. Pros: - The set has a great price-to-parts ratio and a good selection of minifigures, including the elusive Royal Guard minifigures and a black astromech droid. - It is loaded with play features and includes lots of useful pieces, such as Technic parts and hinged bricks. - The LEGO Group included instructions for two neat alternate builds for this set - an Outrider and a larger-than-minifigure-scale T-16, complete with stand. Cons: - The set is terribly flimsy, making it difficult to play with. Many of the play features don't work like they are supposed to, as evident in JimButcher's review. - The set includes a dreaded sticker sheet and flick-fire missiles. - Due to commercial restrictions, the limitations of the medium, and a designer who probably realized it wasn't worth the effort, the set is highly inaccurate, even taking into account what can and can't be done with LEGO. Even without looking at the studio model, you realize that more than a few things are off the mark - obviously there are the dark grey highlights and the fact that the bottom is flat (reasonable as this is a playset, but inaccurate nonetheless). Do I consider 6211 a good set? Absolutely. Are there things I would change? Of course. Is it "precious art"? No, it's a kids' toy. I suggest you try forcing yourself to open one of the smaller sets - something that can be easily replaced, like a battle pack - and build it. If you can't, call over a friend and ask him or her to open the box and build it for you. If you hold Star Wars sets in as high regard as you claim, you may find that sets look even better when they are out of the box and assembled on your shelf. -

LEGO Exclusive 10221 - Super Star Destroyer
Fallenangel replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I doubt that a few AFOL nitpicks would lead The LEGO Group to rework this craft... especially if the flaws we pointed out require major design overhauls. The thing with UCS sets is that official LEGO renditions are almost always far from AFOL standards, for reasons mentioned earlier in this thread. As far as The LEGO Group is concerned, this IS a good job. -

Oops. It's curvaceous and shiny and completely devoid of greeblies. Most of the scenes from Menace show it as an amorphous silver lump. An Original Trilogy fan probably wouldn't be able to identify it as Star Wars. But that's just my opinion. -

My guess is that the TIE cockpit piece, after 10+ years of use, may seem outdated and restrictive. It's large and clunky and doesn't always integrate well. Kind of like how no one uses the 8L bars for laser cannons on T-47s or the Y-wing canopy for X-wings anymore. He's probably referring to our own Future Star Wars Sets thread. Internet Protocol? To each their own... -

Actually, for some reason the first thing that came to my mind after reading Capt. Kirk's post was the Dark Reaper. Talk about obscure... -
You can have a carefully calculated strategy for a high chance of victory... or you can have fun. What I find interesting about RPGs is that due to the EXP-based stat building system incorporated into such games, a player could at some point begin to genuinely care about the virtual characters they are playing as, more so than in first-person shooters or RTS...for this reason, I found Pokemon games highly addictive.

I think Jabba's Palace is like Echo Base and the Mos Eisley Cantina in that anything The LEGO Group does with it will leave AFOLs unsatisfied. There are so many incredible MOC renditions of all three that no LEGO set could ever match up. We should therefore focus on more realistic big sets... like a Providence playset. But that is for another thread. -

Much bigger. -
I like the fact that Pokemon games have all the workings of an RPG at a level that was easy enough for kids. It was like Final Fantasy on training wheels...

10XXX LEGO Star Wars Minifigure Display Price: $300 Includes twenty minifigures and a big box made of transparent bricks to display them in. * While this call for minifigures isn't unjustified (much easier to MOC a starship or vehicle than a minifigure) we need The LEGO Group to keep making vehicles and starships so that the license stays alive and so that we can keep getting new elements and techniques.

Not that Sailor Moon was especially bad.

No, there aren't any "transforming" TIEs in the films. The closest thing I can think of in the Expanded Universe is the TIE Hunter with its opening S-foils. Maybe he means a TIE set that includes both the hexagonal TIE/ln panels as well as the TIE/In panels. The ball cockpits of both ships are identical, so it's not a bad idea.
