"There is nothing like looking, if you want to find something." - J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit, Ch. 4 Discuss the exciting news here Thanks to CallMePie for pointing out this exciting news...

If you already knew, why did you ask?

How much sense do we usually find in a Day One lynch. We go with whatever we can and then try to analyze patterns from there. You want something to make sense? Contribute and come up with something that "makes sense". Otherwise, just keep chewing on your wiener. Same chance that the roulette wheel will land on black. Vote: Ensign Brian Pewter (Palathadric)
-
Someone brought up the fact that his odd behavior may mean he is a jester. Would it benefit us to lynch him and get him out of the way, even if that means satisfying his win condition? We wouldn't have odd-joke-man around, but so what? At least we'd have the confusing presence out of the way. It's not our fault the Admiral injected one of us with jester juice.

So, she doesn't feel bad about quoting private discussion, I'll paraphrase it for everyone. They were joking about red-shirts, like on Star Trek I guess, I don't know. Oh nuts to this. The Mysterious Case of Whoever's Conversation with Whoever Because I Still Don't Know Anybody's Damn Name A play in one act by Harriet the Slut. Toby Rockford (darkdragon): I'll give you my red shirt. That way you can die this time or whatever joke I'm making, I'm not sure. This is pure conjecture on the playwright's part. Brian Pewter (palathdric): I am Scum. I'll take your shirt and we will kill you tonight and then the shirt will be mine forever. Toby Rockford: Um ... ... What the megabluck? I don't think you can have my shirt now. I don't really have one anyway, but if I did I wouldn't give it to the Scum. If you are, could you please not kill me? I'd like to play the game. Are you really Scum? Or are you joking? Brian Pewter: I never joke about such matters. Toby Rockford: Is there a joke emoticon you can add to that please? Brian Pewter: I will just kill you and take it if you won't give it to me. Don't worry. The stupid host didn't give us a killer so I can't kill you anyway. Flipz: Oh my God, let me tell you about how stupid this host is. I tried to say that the picture was a clue that Scouts... Everyone else: Shut the megabluck up!!!!! The End
-
Then punch yourself and quote him or just paraphrase it so we all understand the context.
-
I had a weird feeling about him too. Can you quote him directly? You can't quote the host but you can quote PMs from other players...I think. I'll check the rules. The rules don't disallow directly quoting a PM from another player. Go for it.
-
This makes more sense. You worded it really weird the first time you explained it.
-
Take a second and breathe, dude. You've just described exactly what you're doing. I doubt you think we're dumb enough to not realize it. I don't think you're dumb either though, so... maybe you've just been thinking too fast. I can't place a vote for Timothy Mandel yet. His defense, while a bit spastic, seems sincere and it seems there are a vocal few turning everything he says into a Scum tell. Maybe I'm off my game, but I can't get on board with this vote yet.
-
Aha, thank you. OK, so a Scum did it last time. Could the current Scum team be keeping that page from the spaz's playbook in mind and trying to appear more active or, at least, not at the bottom of that list?

I am not for a no-lynch on Day One. Lynching is a useful tool. Not using it for a day could be to our detriment in the long run. I'd like to hear more about the original hair accusation by PM between Lieutenant Arnold Daly (Rufus) and Ensign Brian Pewter(palathdric). I highly doubt all these amateur early PMs and people flailing about arguing over nothing and drawing attention to themselves on Day One are signs of Scum. If so, then they're playing WIFOM Scum. But let's look at it from the viewpoint of what we should usually look for. Ensign Brian Pewter has engaged in some odd behavior by PM, i.e. accusing Arnold Daly of being Scum because of his hair and then not really posting much here in the Day thread. That's a combination of what the major accusations have been. Odd private behavior and an attempt to fly under the radar in the public thread. I seem to remember someone making a tally of how many posts each player had made during the simulation. Was that Flipz? Was that something someone did? If that was part of this game, it gives me an idea, but I suppose I should go back and check the simulation vids.

Again? I thought we already were friends. So, yes, of course.
-
Yay!
-
The "Need I go on?" You're waiting on an answer for that? No, you needn't go on. Glad we cleared that up.
-
Sorry I called you a dick. It was only because you were being a dick. What question were you waiting for an answer on?
-
Hey, what did I do?
-
I'd vote with you against him. Just because he's a dick. That is defiantly a bad idea. Violins defiantly only beget violins and they annoy the shit out of me. Can't we get a piano?
-
Do we have an investigator for that? Let's get him!! Of course I wouldn't mind!! Don't call him Shirley.
-
It defies the laws of cool and sexy.
-
Are you correcting my grammmer? I defiantly spelled it write the first thyme.
-
No, my hair isn't Scummy at all. It's defiantly beautiful.
-
It's your hair, Scumbag.
-
Scum! You're Scum. I can tell.
-
I suppose. It's a solid enough defense. I never send out PMs quite that early and if I do they're very guarded and obviously admitting that it's too early to start anything. You threw out a strategy, which I realize was kind of a joke, but it seemed a little too trusting for this early. Plus, to metagame, in a previous holovid called Imhotep, you played a character (Yes, he used to be an actor before becoming a Science Officer) who contacted me before I contacted you because you had been advised I would be suspicious of people I had to seek out. I realize I'm not in that position of Town leader that I was in that game, also I'm metagaming. But, my gut instinct was to think that you were stretching that advise so far as to pre-emptively start a conversation in case I ended up in that position and we'd already have a side conversation going. That was just my gut, though. And metagaming off now. Sorry.
