Ok guys, here is the plan. I will lock one or the other. A merge is pointless as the same people have posted the same replies in both. I can also retitle whichever I leave open, to clue us in on the subject and make it easier to find. (My pre-coffee brain couldn't make the connection that Adventure could also cover PQ). So, which do we keep? Any ideas for the best thread title?

Search for the Desert Temple
Peppermint_M replied to TooMuchCaffeine's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Plane! Are you sure you have no vanilla images of the MOC? I can understand if you had to take it apart but there aren't any unshopped pictures? I'll change the title later if you like, but this is a great design and would be a shame not to give you a chance to find some appropriate images. Others should recall their mistakes while being oh so speedy to point out problems. -
Well, we never had a wave of Kingdoms for spring, but there is one in the summer. A break in the middle could still mean more sets. With World Racers, it didn't seem to perform as well as other lines. It is a known fact and TLG are aware that their themes compete against each other. For all we know, a second wave of races was planned but it was mothballed due to poor sales. The PQ sets are in supermarkets around me, so that gives them one up over World Racers (with buyers for major retailers ordering them, there is bound to be decent sales) as these never left the Lego Shop. Quite a few Action themes have taken a brief break and then come back later.

A great effort. It's too bad the legs can't come in a more natural shade . The shape is good and from a limited collection it is always a great task to create a MOC. from me. Keep on tweaking things as you wish and keep on MOCing

Well, I can't find the earlier thread, something must have nixed it or I am looking for the wrong title. As it stands I will leave this until such a time as I find the actual one (maybe the thread starter for the earlier one might notice and help).

Review: Character Building. Doctor Who TARDIS Mini Set.
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in Community
Yeah, Daleks and such. I was much more interested in the TARDIS, after this they need to make something really amazing else I will only be focusing on the figures and battlepacks. -
Well, I went shopping in the city yesterday and as per my routine I popped into Forbidden Planet. After an initial pass of the Doctor Who merchandise I was disappointed not to find the new building toys from Character, but as luck would have it, as I paused by the shelf load of Square Enix figures I noticed the familiar pattern of studs printed on a Box. There at the top of the shelf the other side was two different Doctor Who building sets. I decided to pick up the TARDIS. It cost me £9.99. A little background first. Character have had the license for Doctor Who merchandise since 2005. They have had several successful runs of both classic and current characters in five inch action figures and with the popularity of building toys, these sets were a logical step. Now to reveal the box. A nice display of the set, the figures and an actual size picture for Eleven. Parts count sits alongside the web address and company Logo. The three C’s of Collectable, Constructible and Compatible under the branch brand. You can also notice the BBC logo and hiding in the corner a Cobi logo. As soon as I saw that I knew I needn’t worry over brick quality, their product is impeccable. The back has a nice little blurb about the TARDIS and its current occupants. Top and sides are just the usual little bits thrown on to cover card. The contents: 4 bags, one for each figure, one of plain brick and plate, the other two have the special door parts and panels. There is a large sheet of stickers and a small card insert of the typical view inside the TARDIS through and open door (achieved on set with painted canvas behind the doors). A closer look at the contents of the bag. As you can see from the second photo, they colour is a perfect match for TLG dark blue. The special parts: Three panels textured for TARDIS sides, the doors and the hinge plates, the doors slot into small holes that are through the plates. The roof is one large piece and the lamp sticks onto the top, providing an unrivalled opportunity to drill through and hollow the lamp for an LED light. The build was simple enough, stacking 1x1 bricks into columns and slotting the panels into place. The final result is a pleasing an accurate TARDIS to play with. Onto the figures. As you can see, they are more detailed than minifigs but do not compromise the aesthetic of smaller figures by avoiding the tiny action figure style that Mega Brands uses. The hands and arms do not readily come off, nor do the legs separate. In comparison to minifigs they are about the same size. The sonic screwdriver is fabulous and accurate, it also fits perfectly into the hands of a minifig. As you can see, both the official Character figures and my slight custom Lego figures look fine with the TARDIS. Overall this set was great, well worth the price and great for any fan of the good Doctor. Hope you enjoyed this review, soon I hope to be posting figure reviews of the soon to be in shops trading figure collection.

No Handlebars by Flobots. A good track if you are into that kind of thing. I enjoy it anyway.

Lets see, they are on series 2 of Halo figures already, displayed right next to the Series 4 figures in my local supermarket. Click Brick have Swap 'ems and are on series 2 which is subtitled Li'l People (Two figures in a bag!!) series 1 was a small model, sometimes with a figure sometimes not. Cobi have been selling three figures in a clear windowed card for a while across all their themes. I have all the FF Trading Arts figures (some made before TLG even started thier series 1 design) and when I was younger there were even more trading figures and things I bothered with. Really, it isn't a massive leap for MB and they are fairly competing. If you don't like it, don't buy it. It's not like they have LEGO SUCKS!!111!!!! on the bag is it? I could run around wailing that I like DC not Marvel, but meh, it really isn't important. It will be a long long time before any of the other companies might be able to topple TLG. Chill out.

MOC: The Secret Tomb
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Glad this one went down well, if I can find a lot more printed and stickered egyptian parts I will be making a more extensive network in a larger tomb. The tomb is built off a trans clear baseplate, so it seems that I may have not pressed the plated onto it well enough (That is always an issue with the plates that span the full width), oddly a bump doesn't show up when I examine it (a trick of the light perhaps?) IRL. Alas, as I am theme moderator, I decided to refrain from entering (plus I have no clue what to build!) -
"What's down there Jake?" "Not much as far as I can see" ... Not Quite right... But if he makes it far enough, there is a pretty good haul! All around Views

MOC: Adventure Offroad Vehicle
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks guys. These Adventure themes have always been close to my heart, this truck is what I always imagined that adventurers needed. The spare was a last minute thought, originaly the motorcycle was latched on the back. When I build these models I mentaly write a short story and that helps me name them. Glad you all llike it, I have a few more vehicles for those brave explorers still to build. -
more in the gallery The Adventure Off-road Vehicle is everything any hardened explorer needs when crossing every kind of terrain one meets while seeking lost tombs and missing treasures. Plenty of storage space, four wheeled drive on chunky tires (plus spare!). A rack for the all important motorcycle and a no nonsense engine to power it. A tow bar provides extra options for trailers and trucks. Remember. Adventure is out there! And the AOV is just what you need to get to it! Doctor Aubery Stanton travels the globe searching for evidence of his theories. This past four years he has been carefully searching through the deserts of the African continent for the invaluable waystations and oasis his theorised travellers would have used. Joined by Ms Dakota Davies (pseudonym) and various research assistants, the sands hold a mystery they seek to uncover. (More from these pair later).

Hurrah! Someone else who appreciated Oxford sets! There are a few of us around but it is next to impossible to purchase them outside of South Korea. Welcome to the forum! Compatible brand reviews belong in the community forum (just a heads up, some members can get snippy if they are posted elsewhere). Hope to see some interesting sets. Sainsbury's in Newport have the series 4 on hanging strips in most of the toy aisles, picked up 8 yesterday. 9 more figures to get! (Doubled by accident...)

Action Theme Funnies
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Sure! I started the thread for somewhere to post all the fun little jokes that spring to mind with minifigs and sets. If it fits in Action themes it can go here! -
Yes. You do. That is the problem we all share Try liking rare or uncommon colours in large amounts, you'll begin to regret taking a shine to Tan, Dark Tan and dark chocolate brown for your MOCs! (I love the tan, I love it so much... Why must I need so many?) The only other solution is to alter your colour scheme.

Street Fighter minifigure project
Peppermint_M replied to mo123567's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Hey ho, great effort so far. Just a quick tip, if your camera doesn't have macro zoom (or a very good macro zoom) position the camera further away from the figure and zoom in closer, it helps the camera to focus on the figure better. -
Ok, so I had to change the title. I just can't stand "legos". I think we all have to live with how awkward, vexing and downright unfriendly to use Bricklink is, there is no decent alternative out there. I think making a wanted list is the easiest way, then finding a few stores with the best prices and seeing what they have in total of your list.

I love playing with greenery. I have a few methods, I'll post thumbnails of the best examples as they are not town MOCs The first two are more basic designs and the final one has a lot of techniques I had been playing with. I can clarify anything the photos don't indicate.

So this is just a partition? LEGO bricks instead of Drywall? LEGO isn't very good at load bearing (they sort of glossed over the principals used for the afore mentioned house). A single lego brick that is one stud by one stud: You then need to multiply by two and four for the standard classic brick. I would advise it as a cladding over a real partition wall, not to build an actual wall out of it.

Oh, a Ninja Go TV Show? It looks like my guess was correct I hope it turns up in the UK soon enough.
