('r 'n Frith Bwci) The Grey Ghost was a private project plane developed in the late 30s as a forerunner of the fighter planes that fought war in the air. The Ap Deryn family were all great aviators from the early days of flight and sought to create an aircraft capable of superior aerobatics and fuel efficiency for a longer air time. It was a great success and was used throughout the Second World War to defend the Socialist Republic of Wales from the Luftwaffe. I built this plane for a bit of fun, it ended up being more air force than adventure (my aim when starting the build). However not wishing to alter something I was quite happy with, I have carefully crafted the history to be slightly alternate to the norm, using the fine writings and universe laid out by Jasper Fforde in his Thursday Next series. This neatly sidestepped the issue of accuracy and reality that are so bothersome when making a MOC. More on Brickshelf once moderated My sigfig is pilot for now. Hope you like it

That was fantastic. I love watching Lego animations of Eddie Izzard stand up. That was a brilliant example

Chaps, I handled it, please hold your ire.

In that case, why is he on a site that states in the member guidelines you must be 18 years or older to post?

Sigh, not another one of these. This is off to community where someone helpful can assist me in finding the other thread that runs along these lines. For the record, save them and donate what you don't want. Destructive methods are selfish and juvinile when cheaper bricks can give someone somewhere enjoyment and a chance at creative play.

Well, you go to the shop it is exclusive to, or Lego Shop, bricks and mortar or online. You go to the area they keep the theme and you find the set... Taa Daa. Nothing hard about it at all. In fact in a bricks and mortar shop, the exclusive set often haas flags, tags and all around fuss on the shelf to let you know that you have to buy it at that shop. By the "b*ll*cks" I'm going to guess that you are UK based, well ToysRUs Argos and Tesco often are assigned an exclusive set, but of course the Lego shop online will have it anyway.

And we need to be cross at other adult toy fans because? Locking, we do not need to flame fans of another toy..

Moving.... My advice? Take a look at the forum before posting.

Staff though I may be, I just don't feel qualified to run feedback an many kinds of MOCs. I know nothing of the building you and Ralph S prefer, so to state anything (apart from admiration at technical skill and replication of a real object) would be false and maybe even pointless. Also, plenty of times I feel like a meanie, dropping on a MOC and taking it apart criticaly. I have done it once or twice to no avail. Also, I often find that a personal prefrence of the builder is not the same as my own, when my aesthetic choices are picked out as issues with my MOCs I don't find it helpful, therefore I don't think a personal dislike of another's choice to be pertinent to discussion. I have to admit that my own MOCing is more like second nature (as it is to write, read or speak) so although I can offer creative advice and even proffer up construction techniques I find it diffficult to explain. However I do wish to once again offer up constructive feedback to others, with the above reasons being the main cause of my reluctence.

Next "Adventurers" Theme Ideas
Peppermint_M replied to Commander Keller's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Idea: Why don't you all try building some of these cool suggestions? While I admit some of the monster figures would be a little hard to build the location/ruin/vehicle to demonstrate the idea wouldn't be that hard. TLG has made a huge variety of printed torsos and headgear and accessories that can be used to dress any adventurer appropriately for the environment. I want to see some of these ideas realised! -
Thanks for that. I have missed a few recently!
-
Or is being removed from the line up as it is potential competition? TLG themselves have admitted that mostly it is their own themes competing against each other on shop shelves. Why devide an already small market when you can take away one of the products, leaving the new one as the only choice?

They had already done Egypt, Orient was the last adventure at the time.

Hurrah, I shall take a look in the Cardiff shop when next I visit the city.

Collectible Minifigs, Sportscards, and Packsearching
Peppermint_M replied to LegoCityMann's topic in General LEGO Discussion
A repeat on the no carded packs. "Dot Code" is even more of a nightmare. When series 3 first came out, I had decided against getting a full box again, as such I printed the code and went to the shop. There were at least six kids and their parents trying to find specific figures (not very successfully) when I removed my dotcode from my bag and settled it above the shelf of figures. As some may have noted, the Chief and the Samurai have similar codes. I was personally blamed when an impatient kid didn't take my advice to feel the bag for an identifying part (Headdress or armour, it's not hard!) I had to hand over my samurai to avoid any problems! Since then I have just felt for parts, usually it is pretty quick and easy, I grab a bag, feel a part and call out the name (if in a busy area of others who are looking) when I don't want that figure, but keep it if I am looking for it. Knowledge and familiarity helps a lot and in a full box I can always find which ones I seek. The major difference between sports cards and CMFs is there is no rarity factor, sometimes there are two more figures in a box than others but it's not a case of 1 in 1000 or anything like that. The "big money" doesn't really come into it either, sure some figures are more popular than others but right now no one is going to pay £200 for one of them. I haven't encountered the scalper issue at all. It seems Wales is empty of AFOLs and bricksellers! -
I think this will find more of an audience in SciFi, shall move it over there!

I used that head.

EB 2011 Windsor Event - pics & stories
Peppermint_M replied to Legostein's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
Hey! A picture of me that looks good I need to sort my pictures out, but most of them are just repeats of the much finer photographs you all took! -
Ah ha! He beat me to it while I commuted! I shall get to merging now You know what. I'm lazy, this has been solved, so I'll just go ahead and lock it up.
-
Got any pictures or a more detailed description? Then I will have to merge this with the "What is this piece?" thread.

What was the last movie you watched?
Peppermint_M replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I hope you stuck around for the mid credits bonus scene then! (We did, it was awesome. I mean really Awesome. That one moment made up for all the ick of the costume design) -
Are you ready for Brickworld? and countdown clock...
Peppermint_M replied to DaleDVM's topic in Brickworld

MOC: Adventure Plane

Of course, of course. My busy weeks of holiday and University work are behind me. Now for a summer of building! -
What was the last movie you watched?
Peppermint_M replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I watched Green Lantern. Although I still dislike the costume direction (it is still better than bat-nipple suit though) I really rather enjoyed it. I went in worrying that a character that until now only I really knew or liked (amongst my non geek friends that is) would be somewhat spoiled by a naff film for years to come (I'm looking at you, non Burton Batman Films, and Catwoman) it was good. They got the character right-ish it looked great visually. Now, with the possible success of the mo-cap costume, does this mean we get a Flash film? I want the fastest man alive to be running across cinema screens soon! -
Why do you collect the Collectible Minifigures?
Peppermint_M replied to thegurumb's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I collect them for the amazing parts. Ever since I was small, hair, face and torso prints they were my favourite part of Lego. Printed legs (unheard of when I first started getting Lego) are even better. I suppose minifigs are my dolls, I adore building figures with character and making them a past and an adventure. I have multiples of many of the figures, their accessories are fab too, so sometimes I will buy many of one figure just for the cool accessory. I have stopped buying boxes of the things though. Two series was enough I still buy plenty though. Come to think of it, mini-parts are the reason I buy most clone brands too...
