  1. Hi Legofan(something, something, worrying indication that we are the same age) People assume you are male because you are not a member of the ladies group, nor have you mentioned anywhere that you are female. This is a fans of lego site, Lego a toy most often used by males. Adult fans are even more likely to be male. That is why there is a lady group. To prevent issue. We all think you are potentialy a troll, that or the 88 in your username is not an indication of the year of your birth and you are in fact a child. As such, shape up or ship out. Replys have been plenty serious. You are the one with the problem here. It is beginning to look like a private chat is in order.
  2. Yep, the propeller is from an Agents set, I love the little yellow details at the tip, yellow is my favourite detailing colour next to chrome silver.
  3. Like her sister craft White Lightning, Blue Thunder was a stunt plane in the Swift State Sky Circus. The guns loaded with blanks for dramatic dogfights to entertain the crowds. Now in these dark days of war the guns fire live rounds, defending the reconnaissance teams on their vital missions. Buck “Pop” Rocket pilots the Blue Thunder, he yearns for the peaceful times of the Air Circus and flying to stun and amaze. This plane was an experiment by me, borne out of a distinct lack of inverted curved wedge elements I use in my planes to create the tidy slope at the back. However, I did have quite a few matching pairs of the long curved wedges from my Exo Force collection. Using SNOT and a few other techniques I built this plane. The end result was perfect (IMO) so I built another. A mix of the more mundane stunt planes and racing planes of the here-and-now with a little Sky-Fi flare. I just love building planes!
  4. Drafted in to fight war in the sky, White Lightning and Blue Thunder no longer entertain the crowds at the Air Circus, instead they fly defence for the Free State Alliance against the Lion Empire. Piloted by Cerys “Crescendo” Rocket, who took over from her mother when injury forced her to retire from the Air Circus, now a fully fledged fighter pilot. She finds the live combat a lot more exhilarating than air shows but balks at the thought of shooting down live pilots. For now she only faces down drones, but one day soon the Empire will send out humans... Having built the Blue Thunder, I just had to make a second plane; after all I had the parts! Fortuitously the stickers match from white to blue wedges, making these planes part of the same squadron. I did leave off the nose dish this time around; the propeller stickers on this plane made the front seem too busy with one in place. Other more practical changes do manage to set it slightly apart from the Blue Thunder. Plenty more where these came from!
  5. Well, varnish is always a good way to keep the paint tidy after it dries. A small amount of prep work is needed on a part first, lightly abrade the area before applying paint and ensure there is no grease/dust on the door. Then once it is clean, dry and the surface prepped, paint away (masking tape keeps things accurate). I can't advise on paint colours though, the best way is to take a brick in the right colour and match it to a spray can lid. Another much quicker method of decorating, especialy for lines, solid colour areas/logos is vinyl. You can get rolls of it and then cut to shape and apply.
  6. Thanks Guys! This one was an attempt to remove myself from stubby planes while still using my favourite technique of the moment. I can't take full credit for the cockpit, I am sure I have come across it every now and then in other builds.
  7. The Maelstrom is a rhino class vessel and like all other Free State Alliance planes, co-opted from civilian use. Formerly used by the Independent State of Swift in its mail cargo fleet to run packets and parcels from island state to island state. Modified to deliver bombs to drone factories, air strips and launch pads. The heavy guns on this craft are for taking down the Empire’s flying fortresses. The added armour has done nothing for speed but makes these craft sturdy. Flying in squadrons following the reconnaissance planes, these heavy hitters never leave a target standing. This MOC was built after more experimentation with parts. Somewhat styled after Lancaster Bombers and other planes of that ilk. I used the dark blue purely because I like the colour and my large Agents collection supplied a lot of useful parts.
  8. Oh no, he's had 58 posts on the forum, not really a sign that they are here for fires.
  9. More, click. So looking forward to this.
  10. There is a word I don't often use, infact the last time I used it was at the event after a particularly awesome time. NERDGASM Oh my gosh, I'm having a crisis. GREEN LANTERN LEGO!!!!!! Ok, I need to go calm down. YAYAYAYAYY
  11. Can I combine a goat with an ostrich?: You may notice my tags, the ostritch for a Prince of Persia contest and a tiny emote goat. The recent appearance of LEGO goats has prompted me to request a new Goat tag. It needs to combine with the ostrich so that it saves space in my Tags. Hinck or ISC did this at some point.
  12. Thanks Big Cam, it always bothers me how pervasive the influence of Star Wars is, it must be a side affect of many builders also being Star Wars fans Fires-Storm, thanks. I have a wide range of influences when making a plane, I did mention that I started off one I saw in a comic book, but I also have a lot of books with pictures of aircraft through the ages. These all help when I start building! legodac, years of collecting in my case. I have purchased a lot of sets over the years and once I have finished with the set it often comes apart as soon as I need parts. I have a lot of Lego these days. Glad that it is also exciting kids other than my little brother!
  13. We'd send ointment, but it seems that this thread is complaining about a problem being addressed and free gifts. LegoFanblahblahlah: Maybe if you are clearer in your e-mail about a problem then the issue can be solved faster. For example, I had murky gold in my Pirates set, so I e-mailed: "Hi, I bought the (PotC Set) and the gold pictured on the box is chromed and shiny, the gold inside was a dull flat gold. Have I got the wrong parts?" My reply was a simple: "We'll sort that out for you, soon" and a little about supply issues. A fortnight later my little packet of chromed gold coins and bard arrived.
  14. The Cyclone is a tri-swivel-fan jet designed for speed. Intended as a race plane it was co-opted as a fast reconnaissance jet when the Empire of the Lion declared war on the Free State Alliance. Like many planes in the air war, this jet is unique and has been grouped with a selection of other speedy sport planes to fly missions over enemy airfields and landing pads. The three swivel fans allow for a good kick and a surprising boost when in the air and a variety of fins make it exceedingly manoeuvrable. Like all former civilian aircraft, the Cyclone has been fitted with two pulse blasters, guns that utilise a weakness in the enemy shielding system to short out the command computers in the countless drones sent out by the imperial forces. Another Sky-Fi creation, The Cyclone was first conceived as a take on the Captain Boomerang planes that feature in the DC Tangent Universe books. However when I got to building I ran away with myself and ended up with this. I am perfectly happy with the end result. The stickers are mostly from Exo-Force with the roundels from my selection of plane themed stickers. More on Brickshelf when moderated
  15. Please, use words, Question is not very hard to type is it? Nor is with. I really can't understand what is wrong with getting free stuff, if it offends you that much, donate it or give it to someone who wants it, Really now...
  16. Correct! The plane is made nearly wholly from the two large curved wedges from this set, I also liked the stickers final result, including the happy conicidence that they were still the right way up when used. I must also point out that next to no SkyFi plane would ever fly in real life, they come from a dimension where physics has had a good kicking and knows it's place.
  17. Indeed, the whole idea of it is one I adore Also, thelow part count and simple build makes it easy to multiply (I just need to buy the parts) So I might make a few more in the future.
  18. Ah ha, I am thus enlightened. Thank you good sir
  19. The Jitterbug is the culmination of years of research by one dedicated man, Charles “Pocket” Stone. Called so for his desire to create smaller and smaller objects. Desiring to create the Mini Cooper of the aviation world he designed this tiny plane. Capable of short span takeoffs and quite a good flight range, especially when using the principals of gliding. The plane only uses fuel during take-off, utilising its tiny size and good air currents to cross long distances. Admired for its economy of fuel and space, the Jitterbug is set to become standard as the mini of the sky. While building planes I decided to set myself the challenge of creating the smallest possible plane that would still fit a minifigure pilot. This was the result. The third in my series of planes.
  20. Well, my title has changed. No idea by what forces (ISC...) An inconsistency in some chronological arrangement maybe we can all be enlightened as to the reasoning behind this?
  21. I think it was refuted. Two posts afterwards, myself and Siegfried presented our evidence and the member you quoted accepted his mistake. Now, was this an attempt at an argument or a real question?
  22. Stash?! You were in the UK? It's too bad about that flooding you had, you guys all pulled it togeher great though.
  23. Thank you . They were a last minute alteration, I am glad they turned out ok. Right until I was building the tail the 4x2 wedges tipped the wings.
  24. Thanks guys. I have been building planes for over a decade and every time they are better. I have a few more waiting to be posted soon... Hinck, the sticker was from the Exo Force set 8103 Sky Guardian. I had kept it aside for a plane it would suit. The target stickers are from a sheet of stickers related to planes that I picked up for it's potential usefullness. You know, I go through a load of those technic discs, they are a lovely counterpoint behind the prop.
  25. Curses, some sigfig influnces have been discovered! That film has been a favourite since I saw it and I highly anticpated prior to release. I just have to add this, when editing my pictures I realised this looked pretty epic.
