Printing reduces re-use potential in parts. Not a big problem now I can purchase parts however I want, but as a kid it meant being stuck to finish a build because the last part I needed I didn't have unprinted. Flags and minifigures should be the focus of printing.

Yes, the ads help to keep the site running, hosted and secure. Another thing to point out: Ad Sense (the advert providers) only share ads that are relevant to the site or your history (if you have let cookies be picked up on). Hence all my adverts are for Manga books, Designer Handbags (Vendula London, buy one, forever get tempted by more) LEGO sets and Vans shoes. If something is on that you dislike, you can report it on your browser and then get it removed for you.

Why does Lego have rules?
Peppermint_M replied to LordsofMedieval's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Exactly! It is a nice little collection I picked up but building with it has been rather... expletive filled. Though it settled an argument with my father who claimed that LEGO had green roof tiles in the past and thus was way "too simple" with the sloped bricks now. (Quote my sibling who cares not for bricks and building "you are arguing with her about LEGO??") Sometimes you can see why TLG won the brand battle. -
Why does Lego have rules?
Peppermint_M replied to LordsofMedieval's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My friend was clearing up her Grandparents house, I was able to buy some Airfix Betta Builda bricks. My collection of comparisons grows. Of course, I still have the larger LEGO stock. It will be interesting to see what new elements could appear as they seek to squash competition. -

Precisely. I would love to get my hands on some of those. Just for my collection. -
The Winter Village Winter Festival Contest
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Town
Overhang has always been within reason: A few leaves on a tree can overhang, a sign or flag leaning off a structure can overhang. A Ferris Wheel with a 32x32 footing would be enormous, but a little one within the area of 32x32 wouldn't reach out too far. So, for a solid rule, a 4 stud overhang is allowable, as long as it is not continuous on the 32x32 footprint. So no boosting up ground height by a brick and then making a four stud overhang across all edges, but a coaster track corner can be over an edge as it curves out and back in. Or a Carousel can be running over one corner slightly, but not all corners.- 12 replies

The Winter Village Winter Festival Contest
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Town
I think it would be best to keep things close to the holiday/seasonal theme as it is Winter Village so maybe a low percentage of Spook (in this example anyway). I know a number of people who would prefer to meet Jack and Sally instead of Santa, so a slightly hijacked Grotto/sled would work pretty well but it needs to be like, at least 70% seasonal for a rule of thumb. As for Prizes, we do have them, but I need to match them to the right category before we reveal them.- 12 replies

LEGO job opportunity wanted
Peppermint_M replied to PsychoWard666's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This thread is two years old. I am not sure if the op is still active, or if they still want an answer. Please use thought before bumping a thread. -
Welcome back to the Winter Village! To celebrate our return there is a festival to enjoy, We need you, Eurobricks members, to populate this festival with attractions, stalls and larger than life characters. With three categories to choose from, everyone has a chance to enter. Category A: Festival Attraction The festival has to have some big draws to attract visitors: Fairground rides, walkthrough attractions, contest grounds, games and more to excite and entertain. This category has to fit on a 32x32 baseplate, and of course match with the winter village theme. Category B: Festival Stall Once everyone has had their fun on the big attractions (or if the line is too long!) they will want to check out something smaller. A festival stall could be selling hot food, warm beverages or any number of lovely gift ideas for visitors to take home for the big day. Of course, a festival also needs sideshows, meet and greets and Photo Ops to make some great memories. This category has to fit on a 16x16 baseplate, it can be just one stall, or a few market booths or even a fenced space for whatever Winter or Holiday activity you want to see. Category C: Entertainer Create a wandering entertainer (or pair) who is in the market to spread fun. A little different to the Meet and Greet, as these guys and gals are doing magic tricks and handing out treats, spreading wonder in the crowd and adding to the atmosphere. So, nope, you can't just enter a lone Santa figure or an Elf (off the shelf!), there has to be some character there. This is the smallest, on a 6x6 base, at least one minfigure (max three: Entertainer, assistant and observer). Theme it to the event but don't let that limit you (Holiday Ninja anyone?). Enjoy visiting our Winter Festival! The full contest rules are below: The Prizes Category A and Category B are competing for 10199 Winter Village Toy Shop (2011) and 10222 Winter Village Post Office (2012). Both kindly donated by a member who wishes to remain anonymous. There will also be tags up for grabs. Entry Rules You can join Eurobricks any time to post an entry. One entry per category per member and no recycling of old creations or MOCs already posted unless you make some significant changes All creations must be new for this contest, recycling elements of past builds is allowed but must not make up a large percentage of the entry. All work must be your own - plagiarizing MOCs will result in immediate disqualification. You may continually modify and update your entries and entry posts right up until the deadline. No competitor brand bricks. However, accessories for Minifigures, custom decals/stickers are welcome Digital entries will be allowed, please stick to the footprint limits, parts in physically existing colours only and the limitations of physics! Post up to 3 pictures in a thread in LEGO Town that must start with the title Winter Festival [Cat - ] with the chosen category. This is to help with collecting entries for voting and any thread missing this may not be included in the voting threads. Other Notes and FAQs By entering, you consent to Eurobricks reposting your entry on Eurobricks' social media channels, crediting you as builder Only Category C has a minifig limit Some entries may get put on the front page or featured on Eurobricks Instagram. This will be to advertise the contest, not to promote any one entrant or MOC There is no upper height limit to a build, though keep in mind a build has to be able to stand without toppling over. If you see any issues with entries, please contact the Staff Team. Not the builder themselves, of course, a friendly reminder to fix a thread title is fine.

Some thoughts after YEARS without a castle theme
Peppermint_M replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I think it would really help if we had a true return of Service Packs. The Xtra bags were getting there but I think those are through? If you could purchase a pack of knights like back in the day, we are well covered for bricks. Maybe a doors and windows set, something with horses and other animals... Enough to keep it ticking over. -
If anything looks dirty on the electronic components, isopropyl alcohol is great for cleaning up those. It evaporates away so will not do liquid damage. Dish soap is perfect for bricks, much better than hand soap. Old camera lens cleaning rubber bulbs are great for dusting. Not as much power as canned air, so it will blow away dust without knocking over parts.

Why does Lego have rules?
Peppermint_M replied to LordsofMedieval's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Part of me wonders: TLG have been so quick to litigate against anyone making plastic construction bricks with a stud and tube, that if they make some parts similar to those other manufacturers produced first then they would get a taste of their own medicine! Sometimes, it is also to do with life-span of a part; is it structurally sound? Will it last as long as it should, would it pass their quality control that they surely have (brown clips, I'm looking at you). If it is likely to fail on clutch power, or be too flimsy a part, then it might not get produced. -
Where are you based? If I suggested a nice hot cup of Bovril, you might have no idea what that is

Checkit: certified Stud Lover. I like some MOCs to be smooth, but others need studs to be LEGO!

I am thinking of letting them into at least one of the categories. I know that many people use the various tools quite skilfully.

Does anyone buy Lego but not open or sell it?
Peppermint_M replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
So, does the fact that I like to line up my Hotwheels cars by casting and then stack them back in their box mean I have a mental illness? Or is it actually a case of being neurodivergent, that it is a "nice thing" for my brain to line up toy cars. I am very aware that I am not neurotypical, as such I know that some days it is good to just set out and arrange something until my head is at peace. There is nothing wrong with doing that in any collection. Be it a figure collection, a LEGO collection or a Library of books. I hope that this is a case of language barrier and not malice. We need pictures! Cats in LEGO boxes are certainly something that belongs on a LEGO forum... -
Brexit absolutely wrecked any hope we in the UK have for reasonably priced goods from the EU. The tax is through the roof and will not get lower for the foreseeable future. I would honestly say, you have to stick to UK sellers, or try and get friends in the EU who can order and get it to you some way else.

I dunno. My sister is not AFOL at all but she has the succulents set put on display. It is not quite a centrepiece but is set out as decoration. As for a nonsense building process: that is advertising baby! Food is never food, the car drives on a test track, the process has been shortened and it is not in-game footage.

Minifigures with Disabilities: Discussion and Rumours

The four footed design would allow it to clutch a stud, it would be great to add to the accessories available. -

One thing we might get is a Quad-cane if we ever have Up themed sets/figures. -
Minifigures with Disabilities: Discussion and Rumours
Peppermint_M replied to Legochaek's topic in LEGO Town
Canes are used to indicate the impairment of the user: I work with a gentleman with a white cane with a red bottom, he can see enough to navigate, but we ensure he has clear pathways from his workspace to other locations (canteen etc) and we have an evacuation plan to help him in the event of a fire or other event. (It also means I need to inspect the Fire Extinguisher stations on his path are not moved or altered, as they are a special type of station to prevent him stumbling on them. Fire Marshal duties!). My workplace is very integrated. Another feature LEGO should introduce is a crutch style that has the armband, not just the bigger "armpit" kind. My sister uses one, she would love to have it included to normalise them for people. -
It gives everyone a chance to pick up the handy CMF series out at the moment.
