That's awsome I thought I put a lot hours putting the AT-AT together, but this is on the next level. I say only one thing - keep up the good work. Personally, I find that the good thing about re-building sets in LDD is that you 1) can look into various techniques and 2) play around with mods (color variations or alternate layouts) that you can later build with physicial bricks. Great job! EDIT: Just spotted a small glitch in the lettering on the the Fire Station. And even if the belville pieces aren't in LDD, I think it'd be OK to use some other pieces to get the look. Just my 5 cents.....

LDD Ghost house
Superkalle replied to t20a1h5u23's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Ha, ha...that was a weird use You can get a similar see-through effect by temporarily changing the color of all bricks to transparent, but that doesn't give the pure brick outline that you show. -
[KEY TOPIC] Wanted bricks in LDD
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I appreciate your dedication, however I'm sorry, maybe I was a bit unclear. You only have to post part numbers for modern bricks that are in production. Not any of old grey/old castle parts and decals. That's why I asked you "which of the old parts are you missing that used in modern sets" (meaning sets that has recently been produced in the last few years....) Sorry for the confusion. So only modern parts please, and you don't have to post the decal part numbers. I can find that. -

Please help me be more specific 1) Which elder parts are missing thar are used also today in modern sets? 2) Which castle helmets will not connect. I know only of this one: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3844 3) Which castle walls exactly need decorations and which decorations? NOTE: Please provide either Peeron or BrickLink itemID @Anders N - decorative side noted. -
Exactly. That's why the AT-AT factory workers got fired. I mean...that much yellow! What were they thinking?

[KEY TOPIC] Wanted bricks in LDD
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
@Zblj - It has been noted If anyone else wants a particular brick (of the newer ones), let me know. I will shortly pass a list to the LDD dev team and we will see what they can do. -
This has got to be one of the worst cases of color variation I have bumped into. They were in a City set that I bought second hand. The previous owner said they were both in the same box!

[KEY TOPIC] Wanted bricks in LDD
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Just to let you know, these allready exists: As well as this, requested by NecroViolator 2711 Technic Rotor 2 Blade with 2 Studs Regarding very old parts, I'm afraid it's unlikely we'll see those in LDD, specially old parts with print. To Zblj: which parts (except the ones above that allready exist), would be your top 3 wanted? -
Absolutely excellent work. I wonder how "city" people would llok in this scale, or is it only suitable for soldiers?

LDD Design Challenge #1
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I use LDD to create an outline, or mock-up of the model. Then I test build with physical bricks to see how it holds together and how joints line up. Then I update the LDD model and after that I'm ready to build the final model. I guess it depends on which type of models you make, but I never have to start from scratch again. I find LDD superior when playing around with design ideas and trying to figure out clever ways to use bricks - specially since you can have parts "Hanging in the air" until you get the whole thing together. But personally I'm very strict on also building the models with ABS. Building purely digital has it's charm, but it's the physical models that give that ultimate satisfaction. Just my 5 cents as always... -
If you want access to a lot more parts and colors in LDD, check this out: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=40794 And there's always the LDD Index Thread....(see my signature below)

LDD Design Challenge #1
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Well, well....I guess that was easy then, because you're all absolutetly right. And thanks Anders for putting the answers so clearly. My main point was - use the connected tool when you're done with your design - It's a good way to see if you models holds together: For me this challange highlights one of the biggest problems with digital Lego design - the fact that you can't "feel" how your creation holds together. -
And here's the 4483 AT-AT. Theme: Star Wars. You can see some alternative versions and download the LXF-file here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=41279

Here is my line-up of modded 4483 AT-AT's. First the original (but with old grays switched to bley). Then my modded version. Much more light grey, trimmed legs and a few other minor changes. And finally, the piece-de-la-resistance, the AT-AT Party Special. Apperantly some guys at the AT-AT factory had to much fluger to drink and got a bit too "creative". They were all fired the next day. And..., almost forgot, you can download the LDD file below. 4483_AT_AT_original.zip

Hi Calabar I'm quite certain this topic should go either in the Minifig customisation forum: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showforum=90 or in the castles forum: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showforum=10 Probably the latter.

Hi folks, OK, here's a challenge for you. Look at the earth...so beautiful to behold in space. But...there's something terribly wrong with our dear planet. Here's the challenge: 1) What's the major flaw in this LDD model? 2) How can you easily find this type of flaw (which method/tool do you use)? 3) How would you go about fixing the problem in this particular model? Download the LXF below and start you investigation. Post your proposals and ideas here. And sorry: There is no price for this one - just the glory. IMPORTANT: If any of you LDD geeks out there have any nasty design challenges to share, either post it as a new thread, or PM me and I can make an LDD challenge out of it (naturally with credit to you!) PS: This beautiful model was not done by me. If I recall correctly I downloaded it from the old Factory LDD gallery site, and now I can't find the original maker. If you who made it see this, please contact me, and I will make sure you get due credit. Earth1.zip

Excellent work on LDD there my friend - but then I suppose I'm just slightly biased And naturally you've built the model also with real bricks - the way it supposed to be done Regarding the model, I really like the way you modded the size to make it more realistic in the proportions. Like you've pointed out, the 8092 is just too wide. Going 6 wide was the right move.

Great correction TOJ - it just shows how little i use minifigs . I guess I should have written more clearly that there is a front and back for each brick/torso and you cannot place the front torso graphics on the back etc. Having said that it's interesting that you found out you can decorate the 1x2 brick on two sides - so I guess that's the exception that confirms the rule
-
1) Drag a brick to the scene (the scence is the area where you build in LDD). Note that you only some bricks can be "painted" with decorations, like 1x1 brick, some tiles, minifig torso, minifig head etc. 2) Select the Decoration tool in the bottom toolbar (hold your mouse over to get info about which button is which). 3) Click on the brick. The available decorations will be shown. Note (IMPORTANT) that 1x1 brick, torsos etc can only be decorated on ONE side. So if you try to decoration the "back side" of a brick, it will not work. @Aanchir - sounds like a good analysis too me about availability of 1x2 with clip in LU mode. And you saw I added it in the topic about Wanted Bricks in LDD?
-
Simply because it's not there No seriously, I'm missing it too. Don't know when Lego will add it, but I'm sure it will be there eventually. Let's hope in the next update. What I do know however, is that Lego don't put bricks in LU-mode according to some systematic plan, but when they are needed by Lego Universe designers. That's why you can have some bricks in there and not others. But maybe with the kind release of LU-mode to the fan community, they may concider adding a few bricks that we fans need. That would be great, huh

No problem, you weren't actually missunderstanding - I do feel like a complete noob. But OK, I won't stay away from SW forum then. Instead I'll keep coming back and nagging with completely meaningless, huge and totaly missplaced posts
