  1. Guys, there is already a topic for discussing the next LDD update (or lack of it). Let's keep this topic only about wanted bricks. Thanks.
  2. I'm moving this to General Lego forum
  3. I'm moving this to General LEGO since it doesn't relate to Digital Design.
  4. Let's stay on topic here guys and avoid the discussion about which is the best tool out of LDD, Ldraw or Mecabrick. This topic is about LDD's future. Thanks
  5. That's a pretty good idea. Not sure how it should be done though. Any ideas?
  6. I agree with you, but I also think each business case needs to be evaluated on it's on merits. AFOLs stand for 10% of LEGO's revenue, that's huge money on it's own. The cost for keeping LDD updated is incredibly small compared to this. Also, I'm sure there are quite a few kids out there that use LDD. The LDD Forum at LEGO.com is alive and kicking at least.
  7. on both accounts. In general, I'm a bit worried that LDD has been manhandled the past years. I'm going to rant a bit now, but I get the feeling that while TLG has been experimenting with DbM, Universe (and now Worlds) pushing in million after million, LDD is chugging along quietly in the background (perhaps too quietly?), supporting what LEGO is (still at least) all about - building with bricks. I'm sure the LDD Team is on "our side" here and want nothing more then to give us a good software and frequent updates. I mean, the fact that we at all have LDD still, is due to the commitment of a few people in and around the LDD Team, and not least due to this forum and all that we do here (which I know is very well seen at TLG in general). The culprit probably lies at some higher managerial level at TLG and my greatest worry is that they don't realise what a gem they have in LDD, and that they don't see how important it is that TLG offer a real brick building tool to complement all the play experiences of their video games, LEGO Worlds, LEGO Movie etc.
  8. As far as business case it feels LDD ought to be a fantastic one for TLG. Sure, the program is given out for free, but the cost for maintaining it is probably small in comparison to the many more bricks (i.e. sets) they selling because LDD builders want to re-create their MOCs in real bricks. And just look how many of the proposals in LEGO Ideas are made in LDD? I don't think TLG would get nearly as many cool ideas if people couldn't jolt them together digitally. If anyone else gets a reply from Customer Services, it'd be interesting to hear what they say.
  9. "Share my opinion" doesn't automatically mean it's right to mention the Megablox quality when the original question was how to get the bricks as such into LDD. I can agree with you on your opinion about various clone brands, but this topic is not the place for us to discuss it. Thanks for your understanding
  10. I'm repeating - please do not spread rumors about a release without hard facts! Who did you talk to? When? What exactly was said? It is an extremely small likely likelihood that someone working at the Customer Services would spread information about upcoming releases, when we haven't seen any such pre-info for the past 5 years of LDD releases.
  11. I think bbqqq may know the trick to separate them.
  12. I'm thinking about closing this topic in the near future. It had it's purpose back in the day when LDD was just taking off and we wanted to create a place to find LDD models to get inspiration from. Nowadays so many LDD MOCs are done and posted out in the other forums so it doesn't feel needed anymore. And besides, the index itself hasn't been updated for years.
  13. Have a few minutes to spare? Want a good read? Then I can highly recommend the review of this years LEGO Technic flagship model, the 42043 - MERCEDES-BENZ AROCS 3245 by EB Technic Moderator Jim. Even for non-Technic fans, this is quite a treat. Click here to head on over to the Technic forum and the review. And remember to vote!
  14. Good find! I'm forwarding this as a report to the LDD Team as always
  15. It will attach to a stud/minifigure hand, but only one way, so you may have to swap it over. The reason is to prevent illegal builds since two studs cannot fit simultaneously.
  16. Hi axonrus Some questions: 1. Which version of Access do you have on your computer? 2. Does LDD Manager work apart from the Thumbnails, i.e. can you import a LXF-file and see all the parts? (I assume so, but just have to ask to be sure)
  17. Apparently there is a connection between the new LEGO Worlds and LDD. At least at the moment you can open LDD models in LEGO Worlds, and there are plans for the reverse as well: http://steamcommunity.com/app/332310/discussions/0/615085406672780265/
  18. I'm not sure why the delay is happening either. I'll try to find out some more. In the meantime, I'm starting to think that the best thing to do is what Takanuinuva did - call Customer Services and let them know we are looking forward to the next brickset. I'm thinking it can never be wrong to give the Brickset developers at LEGO a bit of support.
  19. As a Volvo employee it makes me proud to see model. Fantastic work! And what an attention to detail. I like that you used Dark Bluish Grey for the color. But it is a tricky choice as I'm sure you've been thinking about too - the dark grey that Volvo use is pretty much right in between Black and the LEGO Dbley. Is the logo on the boom brick built? BTW: Volvo Ocean Race is stopping by The Hague on/around June 20th. I'm not sure they have any Construction Equipment stuff on display, but it could be worth checking out anyway. There's a dutch team in the race this year (Team Brunel).
  20. Welcome to the forum. LDD Manager hasn't been updated for a while. You can try Brickutils instead, which at the moment is more updated, and it works on Mac I believe.
  21. Please, no speculation and whishes in this topic. Let's keep it about the next update to LDD. :-)
