  1. I have compiled each person's entries into a single post. Please edit your first post with any new entries. Also, please post your entries into other contests, just post the name of the contest in red after your guild. for example: Elves of Historica [Rogueang] Avalonia - Attack of the Drow Mini-Challenge Thanks! FYI - this topic will be closed on March 1st, and a new free build topic will be started for Challenge II.
  2. Indeed, the tasks do not have a set deadline. There will be a group vote coming up for the mini Drow Challenge winner (Avalonians only) and there is a much bigger task that will be starting as soon as that is complete. There will also be a task coming up open to non-Avalonians as well...
  3. This build is incredible! You have an amazing amount of detail in the rock work, and I love the fingers throughout. The base is also very well done. I love how unique the tower is as well. Fantastic!
  4. Excellent build! I like how the house is at an angle, and I like all the deformities in the walls. The rock base is also very well done. I always like to see Elves involved, and I look forward to the journey to Nocturnus.
  5. I really like the tree in the center of the build, as well as the depiction of the inner trunk. Good job with all the color on the forest floor, and I assume that is a hawk perched on the top of the tree stump? Very nice.
  6. Excellent build Z! The back stair really makes the build IMO, and the floor and wall techniques are excellent. I also love the way the flags change along the base.
  7. Excellent work on this build. I really like the modularity, and the you used many different building styles and some excellent details. Great work!
  8. I LOVE LotR, but I don't see it as a world I would ever really want to MOC in. I feel like the locations have been very well created in the movies, and I see no real need to recreate them myself. Plus, I don't have any interest in creating any scenes outside the movies/books. This is completely different from Castle (and Star Wars), where I can MoC and MoC and MoC, and really like creating entirely new locations and characters (and ships/vehicles for Star Wars). That being said, I love LotR for minifigs, which I use for Castle Elves, Dwarves, Orcs and Goblins. There also a couple of sets from LotR that I have bought specifically to keep intact - Unexpected Gathering, Helm's Deep, Orthanc, and possibly Lake Town. I also like having the fellowship in Lego form, but I am less concerned about having Thorin and Company.
  9. I would say that some of the best LotR torsos for army building have been off unique characters (Eomer, Haldiir, Thranduil)
  10. Excellent build! I like the fir trees, but the arrows in the snow are my favorite part. Nice job!
  11. Thanks to the BP, I have plenty of droids. The problem is, the clones are cooler than the droids (and, as mentioned above, clone sets are cooler.) so I have probably 50% more clones from the other sets I've purchased. Also, the droids should be outnumbering clones like 2:1. This has not been an issue for Rebels/Imps, especially since each different Rebel uniform represents a separate army that can't be easily combined in a MOC. And Imps should outnumber Rebels like 3:1 or more.
  12. Nice review DL! The only thing that would have made this set better would have been the Lake Town shield, but it is a rather excellent set. I still prefer the Mirkwood Elf poly, but that's because I'm an Elf lover.
  13. I would say the "Crown Lions" or "Crowned Lions" as this is the distinctive heraldry from these sets.
  14. It would be more convenient if you just edit your first post, as I will have to do that myself it hey are spread out over a bunch of posts.
  15. This challenge will use the standard judging format, as Vlad stated above.
  16. Great entry Jason! MikeyB, you could post some less-then-optimum photos, if they are at least somewhat decent quality...
  17. So, even though it is not called Series 12, the Movie line is series 12. The movie and MMO lines are replacing CMF series then. bummer.
  18. Excellent entries Carson, De Gothia and Hammerbro33! Only a couple of hours left, hopefully we can get a few more entries yet...
  19. As mentioned above, as lomg as the character isn't so distinct that they can't be changed out (Darth Vader, Gandalf), I actually prefer it. Unique characters privide new outfits that I can create new troops with - Eomer and Thranduil have beautiful armor that can be used for an entirely new type of soldier. Lurtz on the other hand, added some variety to my Uruk Hai. I am however not using them strictly for LotR. I have been using LotR to bulk up my castle armies.
  20. Yeah, in Book I it was titled differently, but this is still the place. No worries!
  21. Please refrain from starting new topics to ask questions. This is the thread where those questions should be posted, and you will probably get a quicker response here as well. Thanks!
  22. Excellent work DG. Your task II entry is especially comprehensive! Narbilu - Congratulations on having the first Challenge entry! Hopefully you can get one or two more pictures before the deadline?
  23. Yes, there are dwarves, Orcs, Gnomes, Goblins, Centaurs.. All sorts of tribes.
  24. Excellent build! The boat hull is indeed a stroke of genius. You also have some other great details, like the supports. Good work!
