  1. I believe its status is deliberately terra incognita. In book 1 it was not assigned to any of the guilds, and I used it for my 5th guild challenge entry. All the guild leaders have changed since then, so they may decide to assign it. I'm not sure if I and Kaliphlin would have any prior claim as first builder because my entry did not win and so it's not canon. We certainly know it's there though
  2. An amazing battle, fantastic write up too. Thank you very much to Ska and Scarst!
  3. Great story. I love all these faction based storylines. I'm still guessing where this will go. I actually have a really poor colour selection for Mitgardia, so that will end up determining my choice of sides.
  4. That red dot is right beside my temple of the mad monks on the isle of Arrakheen. It's a reasonably sized settlement with farms to supply the monks. The temple and its grounds take up around 1/3 of the island in the lake. The PGTC is no longer using it as a headquarters but we do maintain a presence in the isle and the guardians never sleep. It's cool to have new neighbours, welcome to the hood.
  5. Hey congratulations to our guild master the newly anointed Duke SkaForHire! Should have noticed a bit earlier...
  6. Olaf with a detachable head and with a carrot nose! So that we can build a snowman, do you want to build a snowman....
  7. What? ! My heart is beating faster. Do you have a source for this wonderful news?
  8. In Kaliphlin we do not claim territories, we build outposts and towns and villages. The area you propose is far too large, it surrounds a major port, is already inhabited, and is on a major sea trade route. Building one town there is fine (but be aware that Gorr is heavily populated). If you really want splendid isolation, there are a lot of empty deserts, jungles, swamps, and mountains to choose from. From the description of your tribe, I am starting to wonder if they might be happier in Nocturnus- of course they are very welcome in Kaliphlin which is a tolerant and diverse guild, but the whole ambitious evil supremacist thing is much better suited to Nocturnus, which has a lot of similar empires. In Kali we are a bunch of traders and scholars for the most part.
  9. Thanks for explaining Leki. I still don't really think this is realistic, typically both sides of a canyon look very similar, you have one mountainous side and one peneplain side. The placement of Daenerys lake is very unusual too, it would be more typically on the left or the right of the mountain range because that's where the water would flow to from the mountain streams. To be honest it looks like you drew in some natural barriers in a square around the territory just for defence. Of course, it's only a game so you can do whatever you like. I'm just giving my opinion that it looks unrealistic in case that is helpful.
  10. I have so much love for this. The bonnet is fantastic!
  11. Welcome Osric, Baconius and Leki. Leki, that is a superb introduction and a beautifully made map. Geographically, it is quite unrealistic though if you think about where the mountains and rivers are. Usually a mountain river flows between parallel ridges. Your golden plains will be flooded pretty much all the time by the fast flowing mountain streams when it rains. I would suggest you put a mountain range along the northern border or extend the flood plain on the Mitgardia side.
  12. Really nice use of color and tone, and excellent presentation. My only criticism is that the front Centre ground just in front of the dog looks notably barren, and so do the front corners. A very nice vig though.
  13. Just amazing. The quality and amount of output you guys have pumped out for this contest is sensational. Why did you go for a more conventional steampunk look on this one? Good luck!
  14. Alibaba is going for a US stock market listing this month. It is one of the largest Internet companies in the world and it is reputable. This does not mean all the sellers are though.
  15. Sorry to disappoint you with a "no" on the walls. I only give credits for techniques that I find really really impressive or original. I'm a tough marker but this is a University, not high school ;) By raising the base in a frame, I meant to put a decorated border around the build and raise the baseplate a brick or 2. I realise that would be tough with the irregular shape you have chosen, it's a good way to disguise a flat base though. Compliments on the sand texturing by the way.
  16. Avalonian players, yes although we will offer a good price for some bits
  17. I absolutely love that roof. It took a while to figure out how you did it, it's a great technique for that and definitely +1 on the roof claim. The wall is kind of small so I am not giving it a credit, although the integration into the base is very nicely done. I didn't comment on the back of the wall because I thought it looked fine as it was. The front looks a little rectilinear to me, but that could be how the dune was carved. Great story too. The new camera looks a lot better than the first shots. One thing I would suggest for flat plate type bases is to raise it in a frame to make it stand out from the back drop. Great build. And don't worry too much about the colours, Hammerhand is right but we're pretty liberal on that.
  18. I totally agree with LV and Gideon. I have made Kaliphlin buildings in green, red, pink, and blue without any tan at all. And if you google "swamp" it's green on green on green. One thing that might be worth considering early is that black and white are both very hard to photograph well. Tan and the grey shades are much more forgiving to use for your neutral colour. On the type of bricks, it really depends what you feel like building. Lots of small plates are a good thing to have for both building and decorative elements, as are bricks with studs or holes on the side.
  19. I really like the parts combination and colours you have used here. Nice work. The photographs have very noticeable shadows, which is something to think about in future (I have been working on photographing 4 minifigs for 2 weeks and I just can't get it right!)
  20. Welcome to Goh! This is the Nocturnus thread There are some inspiration and idea pictures at the start of it, they might inform your building style. Or do a forum search for Nocturnus and look at the MOCs that have been posted. Or better yet, do whatever you like and use your imagination. Nocturnus is probably the guild that gives you the most freedom of imagination and design. Book II Challenge III is the next major challenge you can join. It will be quite soon. There are also some mini challenges that are specific to each guild (warlords of Nocturnus) and some mini challenges that go across guilds (eg mount up, which just finished). There is a New Member thread which is helpful for new joiners and I recommend you to read it. The University thing is if you use some fancy technique you can get a credit for it. You ask for the credit and peers review it for approval. It helps to develop your building repertoire. Oh, and last thing... have fun! ps Kaliphlin is best. Really.
  21. Congratulations Mike and family! I hope mother and baby are very well. The PGTC will send some flowers
  22. Thank you kofi, you were right. What a builder! His Rivendell is well worth supporting on ideas for those that want the theme to return, it's spectacular and full of lovely colours.
  23. Thanks kabel! That is one sweet tag. I don't know what I have done to earn it but I love it. My name doesn't even start with K
  24. Sounds fun! There's a lot of talent in the forum, I'm looking forward to the entries. I have two questions - on my banner I don't have a slogan, is one necessary? And how should we think about the placement of the search box on the banner? Is it a set distance from the top right?
