  1. Happy New Year to all the Eurobricks community! It's been a great year in here and I wish to all of you a happy and prosperous 2010 in every part of your life. An extra great thanks to our great staff for running our favorite site! Thanks guys! Keep Legoing in 2010!
  2. I didn't want my last set for 2009 to be a Ferrari set so I went to a toy shop and bought the 6243 Brickbeard's Bounty. I now own all the sets from the latest Pirates line!
  3. The last addition/edit has been made from me. Last but not least for the year 2009 is the Brickbeard's Bounty. A great set to close a wonderful LEGO year. I wanted something special for good luck I guess. A great thanks from me Holodoc for this wonderful and useful topic since it's the first time that I got into the habbit of tracking the sets I bought. Happy New Year everyone!
  4. Great review Clone O'Patra. Very helpful and detailed. I saw this set last week while I was in a toy store buying the Drawbridge Defense and the King minifig caught my attention. I'm not a castle set collector but there are some sets that are worth buying IMO. The bad thing was that the price was €25 and this stopped me from buying it. Now that I've seen the piece count too I'm even more dissapointed because after looking at the review I like this set even more. The King minifig is exceptional! Nevertheless, thanks for the excellent review again Clone O'Patra! P.S Tonight that's New Year's Eve we traditionally play card games here. Who knows....
  5. Sounds great if you ask me. When I wrote that I agree I was reffering to philosophers only and connecting this with a toy. But seeing it as a whole as you've mentioned, (with buildings etc) that's a nice idea.
  6. Ahem... Take a look at my signature. Doesn't this sound like LEGO? (No offense of course. I know exactly what you mean and I agree. It was just a little joke. )
  7. The first real AFOL set!
  8. Great set from the past! This was one of the first sets that I built coming out from dark ages and it's still one of my favorites. I'm still impressed from the lift mechanism and to be honest I put it in front of me as I'm typing now. The warning signs are also a very nice feature. The only thing that bugs me when it comes to my copy is that the wheels produce a squeeky sound when I move it back and forth. (Does this count as "play with LEGO"? ) Thanks again for this wonderful review and the great pictures paanjang16! EDIT: Alywin, your set is probably the 6671 Stalker Lift.
  9. Fantastic! Excellent creation Erdy! What's there not to like? The combination of light blue and brown is just stunning! These two colours have a superb result and I think that it's the best colour scheme for an ice cream shop! The buliding looks like a cake! The umbrellas are great and smartly created too! The ice cream stand/fridge looks very realistic! Apart from pirates, this MOC would fit in a city layout perfectly! Great! EDIT: Forgot to mention the amazing roof structure!
  10. Just bought the 8168 Ferrari Victory. My first -and probably last- Ferrari set. Flesh minifigs...
  11. Very good result! Looking at the mosaic from a certain distance gives you the impression of being the original artwork! Well done! P.S Some great songs in it! I still remember the day I bought it 14 years ago!

    City 2010

I totally agree. If it's something like the last garage then I'll just ignore it. Then again, we'll just have to wait and see. @lightningtiger You 're throwing gasoline in the fire now! What a great, beautiful set that was! Oh memories... Take me down to a paradise ride, where things are simple and the cars 4 wide! From Bricks 'n' Roses

  14. I was looking at a Playmobil catalogue yesterday and I saw a very nice wig in the Pirates theme. A wig with sideburns. Click here for a larger image.
  15. Box in a box is my choice too. Saves a lot of space and also all the smaller boxes are packed and can be easily moved. Plus, it's like playing Tetris too. I then put all the boxes in a small storage area above my bedroom's door. (Can't find the exact english word.) The problem is that I now have a large number of large boxes and I'm starting running out of space.
  16. Model Team 5581 Magic Flash MISB. For 40 euros. I'm not a MODEL TEAM collector but this one has some great parts in it. Plus, a 1993 set (old yellow, old grey), how can somebody resist?
  17. Yes, I realised what Front meant. Even so, printing is a quality issue too as you correctly state, that's why I brought it up in the first place. Other minifigs that have a printed torso which resembles "bare skin" don't seem to have this problem. Furthermore, even with two same torsos from different sets, it seems that there is also a noticeable difference. So, even if we take for granted that there is a difficulty of achieving the desired colour when printing on certain other colours, all identical parts should look the same. Crappy, maybe, but same. In my case, one torso is OK and the other is like a lemon popsicle. Sorry if I sounded a bit repetitive in my posts.
  18. Today was an excavation day. I went into a toy shop asking if they had LEGO for my nephew. The owner told me that they only had other brick brands. While chatting, I asked him -"Just out of curiosity" were my exact words - if he had older sets from LEGO. He said that he had two sets remained from the past. AHA! The first one was a Technic set. The second one was the Model Team 5581 Magic Flash (1993). He said that he would leave it for 40 euros since it was old and the box had small shelfware. All the bags were in it, all intact, so I bought it.
  19. Of course... As I've already said in the beginning, there is a difference between the same torsos that come from 2 different sets.
  20. Hmmm... (Quote from svelte's 8398 BBQ Stand review.) Only thing left to worry about is the "fat" factor.
  21. I did, I did.... Even though that opening MISB sets is my source of enjoyment, every time I look at MISB collections I feel ! Perhaps it's the subconscious and the memories of walking down the toy shops aisles back when I was a kid. Still, I would open them all!
  22. Welcome to Eurobricks Jan! Have fun surfing the boards! There are many things to see and discuss about, so the fun factor is guaranteed! Pirates and City? Excellent choice! No need to be and ( ) because this moment is one of the most remarkable and enjoyable after dark ages! You'll see that you 'll end up being and ! I know I did!
  23. The arms are OK. Their yellow tone seems normal and there are no square markings on them. The torso and just the torso is the part that seems to have this problem. If you look at the arms and the torso in the picture above, I believe that you can see a difference on the yellow tone. I wrote "lemonade yellow" in order to distinguish it from the "lime yellow" that some pieces and minifigs heads had. Looking at the torsos again today under daylight, makes me notice that the female minifig from the Advent Calendar has an even more noticeable problem.
  24. Your storage area is my Disneyland!
  25. I've just checked the castaway minifig from the 6241 (the beard was hiding the torso and didn't bother to check it in the first place -thanks for the reminder ) and it seems OK. I don't know about Brickbeard's Bounty copy since it's the only pirate set that I don't own. The other minifig that seems to suffer from this infectious disease is the female one from the Pirates Advent Calendar. Her bust has the exact same lemonade-ish colour. A wet T-shirt contest with lemonades in her case?
