  1. Thanks for all the positive comments guys! I have considered brickbuilt anchors, but the prefab ones are the right size and on this size it's difficult to make good brickbuilt ones. It has top gallant sails. In fact, a lot of frigates had 4 sails on the main- and foremast, some had even 5, like this lovely frigate:Click here(USS Congress)
  2. You asked me for some advice, well here you go I would try to make the side window galleries a bit more curved from the stern towards the sides of the ship. This can be done by making the stern a bit wider, especially on the top (on these ships the stern is below just a tiny bit wider than on the top). In that way your side galleries start from a greater distance from the hull and can be curved towards it like on Blackmoor's Fourageux. The decorations on your stern are very nice, but usually it was the most decorated part of a ship, so with some different colours there the stern may look even better. Changing the brown inverted slopes below the stern into black slopes is also worth a try IMO. I hope this can be of some help to you, feel free to use some of my ideas. Good luck! It's a very nice ship already
  3. I haven't posted any pictures of the Vesta for quite a long time. But in the meantime I worked a lot on the ship so it won't take very long anymore before it's finished. Still, I'd like to share some of the latest pictures I made, so here they are: As usual, first an overall look. The yellow line is still a bit too sharp-edged in the front IMO, I'll work on that later. A close-up of the rigging, with one of my new grey anchors Just like all the other sails, these ones 'work' too as you can see here. Note: I have changed the sails between the main- and foremast now, so on these pictures you don't see those sails as they currently are. Thanks for watching!
  4. Your bow is going quite straight upwards, I would try to make more of a curve in it. You can see on this image that there is a curve in the hull from the keel up to the forecastle. Otherwise it's really good and very impressive, keep it up
  5. Looking at the pictures I think white epaulettes might be a good idea, even though they are not exactly the same. Or perhaps a bead (or ring collar?) looks good as well, but maybe it makes no difference since minifigs almost have no neck at all Anyway, you could try these things and see how it looks, but they look very good already
  6. I uploaded 2 more recent pictures, but for the final result you'll have to wait some more weeks. Here they are: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=4660262 and http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=4660263

  7. My only 'complaint' about this is that you're using the same head 3 times, but the decals sure look great The buckles are very detailed and well done. Epaulettes would look good as well, but maybe that's not historically correct. Anyway, thanks for sharing!
  8. Ah, Napoleon before he got his hand stuck in his coat Although the yellow lines on his hat could have been a bit more smooth(?), the decal is a piece of art and it's a nice combination of colours. Really good job!
  9. You're building fast lately I must say that your carronade looks very good, and the recoil meganism is a great touch! The anchor design is also good, but have you considered using round pin connectors instead of 1x1 round bricks? Might look good as well. Anyway, good luck!
  10. Nice fort! I like the fact that it has all those different rooms, and the overall look is also very good. I think the grey bricks don't look very bad, maybe it's not a bad idea to keep them. But that's just my opinion, I don't know much about forts.. And the chapel is also nice btw You should really try to build this (or something a bit smaller) in real! Anyway, good job
  11. Welcome to EB! It's a shame indeed that there are just 3 members from 'Suomi'. But I can speak some finnish too I went there last year (to Jyväskylää) with a student exchange thing. Onfortunately I didn't learn much else than curse words (which I'd better not mention here) Anyway, it's always 'hyväa' to have a pirates-fan here
  12. redcoats Or maybe it is some kind of device to make drinkable water out of sea water
  13. You made some good progress, but there is also room for improvement I would give the deck much more of a curve. It should be very narrow on the poop deck and much wider in the middle and more in the front. And I would make the side galleries smaller and maybe a little fence between the small stairs behind the helm would look good as well. These are just some small issues, the details on your ship for example(and the type of ship)are great. I really like the bell, stern chasers and croissant in the cabin I hope my critics can be of some help to you, and good luck with it.
  14. And it's [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp] I have to ask you to resize your pic's though
  15. I only have to do some rigging and stuff on the mizzen mast. Then it's finished and I will of course post pictures of that=)

And I have secretly put some recent pictures on my brickshelf so you can also take a look over there.

  16. If you post a few pic's with minifigs soon, I'll frontpage it Although the shape isn't perfect (no tumblehome for example) it's a very good pirate ship. I really like the tiled decks (even some different brown colours ) and the cabin is also lovely. And the retractable plank is ingenious! It really needs a spanker sail though (on the mast closest to the stern), but the rest is very nice
  17. Unfortunately it was developed after the golden age of pirates and sailing ships, but it could go for an accordeon which is more 'piratically'. It's a simple design but a rather nice one. I think Lego should make something like this as well.
  18. It's a nice water supply tank and the outpost itself is nice too. It seems very playable to me. But due to the blue underground it looks like the outpost is in the middle of the ocean so a bit more grass and stuff would be a good idea (I see you are already planning to do that). And then all you need is some kind of important bastard in the jailhouse to make it an important outpost
  19. It's great that you finally start working on this ship again! The carronades look very good IMO and the keel is probably just perfect since you're working on the real plans. Anyway, good luck, I hope you'll find some more time to build on it in the future
  20. Phred once made a rather nice lifeboat (click here) but it could be too big for your ship. And of course you can also use the normal Lego lifeboats, but they could be too small
  21. Well, the superbe has these hammock nets on the sides as well. And it has normal fences in the middle: I hope you can see it, it's a rather small image. But do it as you like. It will be a very fine ship for sure.
  22. It looks good so far. The shape is typically that of a galleon. But on the treasure galleons I believe they didn't have the black&white blocked pattern in the cabin. That wasn't used until the second half of the 18th century. But the rest of this ship is looking good, though I would reduce the number of windows. Good luck!
  23. The last picture looks excellent! Please keep it that way No, kidding, but the other pictures are really excellent. The tiled decks are very realistic and the mast is looking fine as well so far. I would only change the fences a little bit by placing them on entirely on the sides instead of slightly in the middle. But if you can find examples of other ships doing it this way, it's fine with me I think blue and gold will look good on the parts you talked about, but maybe keeping it all black and red also has it's charmes. And the tumblehome is looking perfect. Keep it up
  24. Haha! That's a good one! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
  25. The bananas really are a great touch on the bow and it's good to see a figurehead on this ship. The gundeck is still a bit empty but I can already imagine what an impressive sight it will be with all the cannons! I would only make the 'kraanbalken'(for the anchors) a bit more horizontal. Usually they don't get much higher than the deck. But the rest is going fine IMO. I still have a few of those flowers which I don't need anymore so if you want them you can have them Good luck with it, I'm sure it will be an eye-catcher on Legoworld!
