  1. [pid][/pid] 101c After about 1,5 year of building, I finally completed my French 20-gun frigate 'Vesta' (named after a Roman godess). The hull could have been a bit better (for example the yellow line) but I also wanted to have acces to the gundeck. On later projects, I'll try to improve that. I'm very satisfied with the rigging though (inspired by US ships 'President' and 'Essex'). I want to credit Captain Greenhair, Captain Blackmoor (or Oscar?), Perfectionist and perhaps a few other builders. I don't exactly know what I 'borrowed' from them but they certainly gave me lots of inspiration and ideas. If there are people going to 'LegoWorld' in Zwolle this year, you can see it for real every day there. Enough babbling, time for pictures! Starting with the picture I like the most. The vesta in 'fighting mode' with the main sails 'rolled up'(?). Here you can see it with the moving yards (can be hoisted) and with all the sails taken in. Under full sail, without and with stu'nsails. All the sails can also be braced, as you can see here. Here a bird's eye view. It's also possible to get acces to the gundeck. No explanation needed I can take the stern away to see the captain's cabin. (with a 'painting' of another Lego ship) I like the picture with natural light a lot A close-up of stern and figurehead. Another close-up (swivel gun and ship bell). The ship's wheel. Unfortunately it's not 'working'. And a close-up of the rigging. (Note: For a bit more satisfaction of our purists, the thin black thread is all official lego thread). Time to meet the crew! First the marines, 14 of them. 24 brave sailors, all with a red bandana (and 1 croissant-servant-slave). And the officers, with a few familiar faces And finally, a close-up of the stern with a few sailors. Thanks for watching, C&C welcome
  2. It's number 64649, as you can see here. If you want to buy it, you can do it here.
  3. Welcome to Eurobricks! That's a nice MOC you made With a sinking ship for a change. And a good action scene
  4. If you make the side gallery windows on the same level and make the stern on top almost (just 1 or 2 studs difference) as wide as below, I think it will look good. Comparing the last 2 pictures I see much improvement. This is becoming a very fine ship. Good luck
  5. The thing about the headrail has been said, that was my only point as well. You're getting very close to perfection now Keep it up!
  6. Comparing this image with this one, I think your ship is too narrow and too high. That's my only complaint, this is like most of your ships, a very good one. The colours, the stern, the capstans and smaller details on the deck are all great Nice job, and I'm glad there's more to come
  7. Ok, I see.. I just found a picture here and there's indeed a capstan on that place. I think your ship has enough space for a capstan between the 'hole' and foremast, and the foremast doesn't need to be replaced IMO. As for the capstan, you could make one on the place of the picture, and make something below the deck to make the anchor system work well. Anyway, it looks great so far, I really like the blue parts on the ship. Keep it up
  8. By moving the foremast back, aren't you creating less space for the galley and capstan? I would keep the mast where it is. On many ships, the galley was on the position where you like to make it, but on the deck below the main deck. So on the main deck all you would see is a chimney. The capstan isn't placed there either, usually behind the main mast or beneath the main deck. Hope that helps. Good luck!
  9. Yes, it usually is, but some frigates had a small cabin in the back. Mainly the case on big frigates, but not on the later ones (late 18th century if I'm right). I think your frigate wouldn't have one. Nice site btw, many good ship images Good luck.
  10. Awesome! So many details! Too many to name them all, but for example the skythe, the crossed swords above the fireplace, the well, etc. All great. I also noticed that the arm in the well can be moved. Excellent
  11. This ship is british and has blackcoats on it, but you're correct, usually Redcoats are English and Bluecoats are French. But it's whatever you like. There are also people who put Bluecoats on british ships.
  12. Seems like you have to work hard if you want it to be completed for Legoworld Still, I think it looks excellent so far. Only point is that your yard may be too short. You could get a rather square sail this way, whilst it should be wider than it is high. But it could just be the angle in which the picture was taken. Anyway, it looks great, so keep it up By the way, the Vesta is also finished (except for some hammocks for the 'kooiverschansing') so expect some pictures soon
  13. I agree with Eskallon. It's quite a big empty space now, so a few broken pieces of rock, some weapons and other details may look good to fill things up. What I like about this is that it hase an 'over ground level'-part as well and the big tiled floor is also nice. In the movie I liked the light a lot, from all the torches, which gives it a very mysterious atmosphere. But I guess that's hard to do with Lego But some torches are possible. Good job so far, keep it up!
  14. The snake on Malfoy's staff is excellent I also like other small details a lot like Moody's eye for example. Great job!
  15. I like the skeleton leg-fence on the poop deck, and the figurehead The hull is also well done (but the bow is a bit strange and angular). Nice job overall.
  16. So, if I get it right, you're not posting any pictures untill (maybe) there will come POTC-Lego? That may take a couple of months. You would have made this more interesting with pictures of Lego with it. I also think that this story may be a bit hard for people to follow since there are so many countries. Still, it sounds great so far. I can't wait to see more of this
  17. I think most things have already been said, but the SNOT parts are indeed nice and so is the table. What I want to add to this is that the roof with the technic axles look very good and are very clever as well. Well done!
  18. Ah it looks great now it's only slightly curved You could also try to make the red line in the front go more towards the middle (to somewhere over the 1st gunport) and see how it looks. But this is also very nice, and I also like the figurehead. Good job!
  19. No. Great! We discovered a new thing! If there's gonna be a minifig of him, it's gonna have a peg leg (or a strange blue sock..)
  20. You guys all seem to forgot about Brad! So here he is, we shouldn't forget him
  21. oh what a beautiful sock he's wearing Hope the Lego minifig doesn't have that blue thing though..(I hope it's just for his CGI-peg leg) Still, his coat would make a very nice torso
  22. Yes, no WW2 this time But if John Lennon hadn't been shot, I don't think that would change a lot to the world. Perhaps it would make him less legendary but not really more than that.
  23. Good review. If they were in better colours, I'd seriously consider buying a few myself. Anyway, it's [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
  24. Thanks for the compliment I made the 'enlargements' with inverted slopes too, but just for making it 1 stud wider. I think making it more than 2 or even more than 1 stud wider than the original hull doesn't look very good. If you're going for 2 (or more)studs, I'd recommend Greenhair's technique, using jumper plates. (in case you don't know, it's somewhere on this page) Hope that helps
  25. Hmm..I still think that the inverted slopes make it go to wide. The birdseye view however, looks very good and the technique on the first picture (of these 3) looks clever. It's always nice to see some new building techniques. Keep it up
