Good MOC. The water and sand is not too special, but it's nice. I especially like the building. It's an original design, mainly because of the tower. Well done

Trouble shows up when you are looking for rum
Admiral Croissant replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Pirates
Well in theory, a Sparrow and a Captain Redbeard minifig should be enough to depict the scene of this story. Perhaps you could add a bit more humor in the story, but I liked it nevertheless and it's well written. Good luck in the contest! -
I'm impressed! I knew your technique was clever but now I see how solid it is I think it's just brilliant. And your cannon design is also great. Perhaps I'll use it on my own future ships if I may do so (of course with credit). I can't wait to see the finished product. Keep it up!

Well not like one gunport outside and one on the inside (as far as I know), but the Beagle could have had the same gunports as USS Constitution: EDIT: Yes, when you take a close look at the front of your book, you'll see the same gunports (they only don't have a hole in the middle). Your hull looks promising. My only nitpick is that the place where the rudder will be attached, seems a little too sharp-edged. I don't know how to change that, but maybe cb4's ship can help you. And finally, your pictures are way too large. Please resize them or we'll have to remove them. Our max. size is 800x600 pixles. Here and here are tutorials for resizing if you need them. Good luck on your ship!

Well, compared to this picture, I find your MOC very recognizable Helm's Deep (except it lacks the long wall). I like how you did the walls here, high, solid and you can even put soldiers on them. Are you planning to build the long wall too? Would be awesome and make it look even more like Helm's Deep.

You're totally right! They do get wider, but when they are sailing those sails always seem to get narrower. To be honest, I also made them go a bit wider on the Vesta, but I 'pulled them narrower' with string. So I think on model ships it looks better when they get narrower, or make them wider and make the effect of the wind with glue or ropes/string.
-
I must say they look good, and so does the rest of the ship. Very promising!Still, I have some suggestions for improvement. 1. Make the extended section of the bowsprit (green) with the thinner mast parts as well. 2. Make the "donkey heads"(?, red) black. 3. Add another donkey head to the foremast (blue), just as you did on the main mast. The mast sections on the foremast should be exactly the same as the main mast, only smaller. 4. I think you could make the upper spanker sail beam (yellow) a bit more angled/sloped (reference). Good luck!

I must say that the entire hull looks very good I like all the details around there and the stern is nice as well. But to be honest, I think the sails could use a little bit improvement. I've made another paint image to show it: So first of all the jibs. They can be made a bit smaller, and many 3 masted ships had 3 of them. The other sails are a bit too square IMO, which gives it too much of a clipper look. And as you can see here, the main sails get more narrow at the bottom, rather than wider. Hope that helps a bit I see you've got a good piece of cloth already. Good luck!

Okay enough about Bluecoats and Redcoats again. Keep your thoughts for a possible next Tournament of Retribution or share them in this thread

On Mr Phes his image you can see the extra painted eyes as Sparrow has in the second movie. It's perhaps a bit strange they didn't make those on this minifig. On the other hand, that would perhaps end up almost the same as this one. On your next review you could try to use a white floor as well (and no lines) and a better camera. But anyway, thanks for this review

Tournament of Retribution II Entry: Round 2
Admiral Croissant replied to Capt. Thomas Foolery's topic in Pirate MOCs
Volt, please don't bump old topics, and certainly not with things that don't add a lot to the conversation. Discussions about Bluecoats and Redcoats can be held here, and even there not too silly comments. Thank you, and welcome to out forum -
I agree with you that this is an awesome set! Too bad we don't get it cheaply with a newspaper here in the Netherlands. As far as I know you only get one when you buy another, expensive set. Still, when you're lucky you can get it cheaply and it's just a nice set with Jack and the bottle as highlights. Thanks for the review. I'll put it in the index

Awesome MOC. I was waiting for the brickshelf folder to go public, so now I can give my comment The fort is beautiful, with a nice colourscheme and an interesting build. Another great feature is all the chambers and holes below the surface. I especially like the well, but also the prison with real lights. And it's also nice to see everyone doing their daily bussiness. I'm not sure about the mix of yellows and fleshies, but outside of that: good job

Thanks a lot! They are all great. I think especially this one will be useful in the Pirates forum:

I don't really understand the red lines in the hull, but apart from that I think it looks promising. The shape and colourscheme are good. Are you making this exactly on scale? Anyway, good luck! I'm looking forward to more pictures.

Welcome to Eurobricks. Your squid doesn't look as fierce as the Kraken from PotC, but you still did a good job. It's certainly no boring MOC with this huge number of different scenes and minifigs. Well done
-
Indeed, the bridge, the slope legs and the roof are the highlights of this MOC. It has a nice style overall. Well done

Bjornu, there's no need to quote a post with so many large images when the same post is just above. So in this case, rather just quote the text and not the images. I've edited your post this time. Thanks in forward

SOS for FNG (My MOC needs your help!)
Admiral Croissant replied to darkwave_77's topic in Pirate MOCs
So, what are the questions? I'm sorry to tell you that modifying LEGO that way is not-done here. Instead of cutting a bow piece, rather make a custom bow out of bricks. That would look more professional and give you more honor. You could paint cannons, but in that case do it properly without sweepings(?). But again, it's better to make custom cannons with existing bricks. Here is a custom cannon index which could be helpful. Good luck! -
Well one mistake is that your images are still far too large. It's 4272 by 2848 pixles and our max. is 800x600. So I think you'll need to resize them better (with gimp or paint or something else). And you also had the wrong link. It should be http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/ryanrl/Vignette/img_9080.jpg instead of http://www.http.com//www.brickshelf.com/gallery/ryanrl/Vignette/img_9080.jpg Here is a tutorial for resizing and here's one for deeplinking. Good luck

Sure thing! I've put it in the index. Boomchil thanks for making this![bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]

Happy Birthday Siegfried! What better to give you than another Walrus image (original isn't it?) Oops.. er.. this one is better:

Ship-of-the-Line Under Construction
Admiral Croissant replied to Dread Pirate Wesley's topic in Pirate MOCs
Beautiful I think it's all perfect. There's just one think that bothers me a little bit: I think the yellow line ends a bit too edgy here. It shows off a bit since the rest is all so perfectly curved Outside of that, keep it up! -
Very nice ship. You did a good job on the custom hull, the stern, the rudder beam(?) and the rest But especially the shape of the hull is excellent, and the whole ship is just very original. Keep it up

I've added a poll, and voted "Above Average" It's a rather good set, but I think the price is slightly too high because the black and grey bricks aren't very rare, and on a raft you'd expect brown bricks. Thanks for the review! You can (and should ) join the academy here.
