Overall the ship looks quite good, but indeed there's something that can be improved. I'm not sure what, but I actually think the problem is the masts/rigging. If you look at your example picture, you'll see the bowsprit is pointed a bit upwards. The mast also seems taller, and the mainsail is about twice as large as the main topsail. Your mainsail is quite short, which makes the spanker short too, and that might give it a strange look. I'm not sure, but you could change this and see how it looks. Another thing is that on the example image, the stern is about twice as high above the water as the bow. Good luck!

It's over.. 3001 names?
Admiral Croissant replied to Dennimator's topic in Forum Information and Help
Did this start on the 28th? In that case this strange happening could have something to do with the end of the Mayan calendar -
Happy Birthday hardcore fan! Have a good day! Do you happen to know this penguin? If not, then it's my birthday present because it might give you a laugh

On this picture you can compare the size to a normal minifig:

Captain Greenhair and Perfectionist are roughly using the same technique. If you take a close look at this picture, you can see it consists of these, these, this one, this or this one, some brown plates and tiles, and a black hose or perhaps this piece. I hope this is enough information

Good MOC. The house looks nice (even though the roof is 'damaged'), and I like the palm tree, with coconuts! All the plants also give it a realistic feeling. I agree that the water looks a bit distracting this way. You could take a look here for inspiration. Actually I think trans clear on blue plates could work but perhaps they should be used differently. Good luck on that. As a side note, I don't hope the map leads to a huge treasure cave. In that case it's worth more than 15 muskets

Historical stimulus package
Admiral Croissant replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
A lot of interesting stories. I'm not reading all of them, but I can't wait to see what the result of this will be! My idea is just very short. Pirates are also historical, so what about some kind of competition or cooperation between the History forum and the Pirates forum? I can't think of more details, but perhaps a community build in which the History forum makes land MOCs and the Pirates forum makes harbor/ship MOCs? Just an idea Perhaps I'm looking too much from a piratical perspective.. -
We received a message concerning this wonderful and original Paper Pirate MOC: Other minifigs can be found on his webpage here (but no more pirates). This website also contains the blueprints which you can download. Author's information: That deserves a place on the blog [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]

You're welcome Have you indexed them already? You can do it in this thread if you like.

The bow is indeed a bit stump, but I like the colourscheme and the stripes on the sails. I also like the deck. Perhaps you could make the mainsail a bit longer towards the deck. Outside of that, great job

Just like anyone else I also thought for a moment this was real. You did an excellent job on this MOC. It must have been quite difficuly because you probably didn't have all the bricks at hand like in LDD. The quality is great and all the action is nice as well. Perhaps you could once make a picture of an army of about a million soldiers. I've never seen that before

Miniland Pirates in LEGOLAND Florida!
Admiral Croissant replied to TalonCard's topic in LEGO Pirates
That's a great find! Thanks for sharing. It's nice that even all the minifigures are brickbuilt -
I would try it in blue. I've seen it in blue on a model ship, not in yellow although that could perhaps also be possible.

It looks quite good. But if you're trying to build the 'real' Batavia, I think you should give it much more of a curved shape. And I'm also not sure about the white line. In the Batavia period, blue, red, green and yellow were much more common. I white hull would look quite good though. But if you're not building the Batavia from 1628, you can forget about most of these issues

Excellent MOC again. Your first galleon was great already but you still keep improving. I like this colourscheme more than the Princess's. What you could do, is add bracelines to the foremast yards as well. More so because the main mast also has them: On future ships, a nice touch could be this small beam sticking out on the stern. Anyway, you did a marvellous job. I like the dark brown line and the bow a lot.
-
Impressive! Are these the fore and main mast? Or main and mizzen? I like the brown yards and the hull and masts seem very strong. If you'd like to go for a bit of historically accuracy I think you should remove the bottom yard on each mast. HMS Victory (and every other ship in a normal situation) also doesn't have those. I think you could also lengthen the yards a bit so you can add some equally impressive large sails in the future. Good luck
-
I still can't see it. Could you also upload the pictures on your mocpages account?

It has a very original design. I like the custom gunport hatches, the stairs and the colourscheme. Overall it has a very galleon-like feeling, so perhaps a longer headrails part (like this) would look better. But that's just a suggestion. It's a fantasy ship of course. Good luck!

First public exhibition of our port "Puerto de la Cruz"
Admiral Croissant replied to Captain K.'s topic in Pirate MOCs
That's a very nice lay-out. I can spot some nice building techniques. It sure has a classic-pirates feeling and I also like the brig. Do you know how many visitors you got there? And another thing, perhaps it has been asked before, but did you ask the creator of the HMS Victory model to become a member here? His ship is also impressive and could give a lot of inspiration. Anyway, thanks for sharing! -
Hass Kabal, when you reply to the post just above yours, you don't need to quote everything. In the future, only quote text when there's another post in between (and you want to reply to the one above). When you quote an image, usually you only have to do so when the image is on another page. Thanks in forward

It's always good to see a new member here. Welcome to Eurobricks! I think the bow and stern could use a lot more detail compared to the middle of the ship. The middle is quite nice though. Original techniques and I like the scorpions. But as I said, I would make the bow and stern suit better to the rest of the ship. Especially in terms of colourscheme and detail. You could add some more red and black there. Good luck
-
Looks quite impressive compared to the Imperial Flagship What kind of details are you going to add on the inside? And how are you going to make the ship modular? Removable decks? Different ship sections? Good luck!

Non-Pirate Mini-Figures Useful for Pirate MOCing?
Admiral Croissant replied to Athos's topic in LEGO Pirates
I agree that this torso could also be used in the Pirates theme. Not sure if it fits a soldier though. Anyway, it would suit this thread quite well.
