  1. Hello Cap't Black Brick! Welcome to Eurobricks! Just a small thing to keep in mind: please don't bump topics that aren't on the first page (unless you have something very important to add/ask). Rather comment on the latest 10-15 MOCs. Thank you =)

  2. Nice MOC! I'll put this on our frontpage [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
  3. That is correct. It has been discussed before (here). Perhaps the two can be merged.
  4. I can't do justice to this magnificent work with just one short post, but I'll comment anyway. You did a great job on all of these and you are a very skilled painter from what I can see. Especially the Predator minifigs are very well made
  5. Thanks for pointing that out! Somehow I missed it. I'm sorry. It's a great addition to the index. Very nice ship, very original Anyway, you can find it in the index now
  6. Well for the rigging it depends on the number of sails you want. 3 on each mast would be pretty reasonable, just like the Lady Washington. This one has 4 sails. Important things to notice are how the spanker sail yard is placed just below the main "crow's nest", and the main mast (closest tot the stern) has no sail on the main yard (the one on the bottom). For the bow you could look at this or this ship in lego, or google on brig Amity or Niagara. Good luck!
  7. [pid][/pid]208A News Scout SirSven7 has found this nice MOC on Flickr. It's made by maedhros1980's, who usually builds Star Wars MOCs. I think he's done a great job in photographing this MOC and I like the recognizable ship parts in the wrecks. Enjoy! And here's a link to his Flickr account. [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
  8. I'm not sure about the trans-clear plates and the white tiles (especially the one that isn't attached to the studs). But I'm just nitpicking as I just prefer SNOT water. Outside of that it's a very nice MOC. Good job on the photography and I like the piraty elements like the wreck in the water. Very well done
  9. Great ship! I love the colourscheme and the overall techniques. The black lines are nice as well. I think the stern and side galleries could use some work though. Perhaps you should only make windows at the second gundeck leven and not on the lower gundeck, just like on the model. And could you please resize your pictures? The maximum allowed is 800X600 pixles. Thanks in forward and good luck on your ship
  10. Be careful with that! Pirates aren't the most reliable persons But indeed it's a nice picture. And congratulations with your engagement! halfpenguinhalflego, that's also a nice picture. Funny to see this character in the mud for a change, instead of on a beach.
  11. Thanks for all the comments! Why is that? Because they don't have enough large seagoing vessel models? Yes they also talked about it on Radio 538 a few times, but they didn't even inform me about that Thanks! That's also why I can laugh about it. I think/hope I can rebuild it quite fast and I've already ordered some bricks to improve it. I'm going to make headrails with yellow hoses, and I've ordered white arms for a cannon-shooting effect.
  12. Nice MOC The modularity seems good and I like the touches of grey in this black ship. I also like details such as the black teeth-like pieces directly below the cabin. It's not a boring ship, thanks to fine details like that (and many other things of course). One thing though, I don't know how accurate you want to be, but on this picture, the bell is situated behind the mizzen mast:
  13. I'm here with a small but sad update on this frigate. On the other hand it's also quite nice though About a month ago I asked a nearby maritime museum if they'd like to put the Vesta on display. They liked the idea very much, and put it on a glass plate above the stairs: Then, last wednesday, disaster struck. The plate broke and the ship fell down in hundreds of pieces. Quite sad, but I had a look at it, and rebuilding seemed like a reasonable option. Then the newspapers heard about it and I made it to the frontpage of our local newspaper (read by about 90.000 people) Then it also got a small article in the national newspaper: And finally I made it to the local television (together with Captain Blackmoor): (here's a link to the episode, it's in Frisian though) So that's quite a reasonable compensation So perhaps if you've build a nice ship, don't hesitate to call a maritime museum as it can have rather nice consequences
  14. Our News Scout Sebeus Iniwum has found an amazingly detailed HMS Beagle model on MOCpages. It's made completely out of LEGO parts and especially the rigging is hard to do that way. The famous biologist himself can't be found aboard, but on a real model that would be possible of course! So, who takes the challenge to build this in real? Anyway, here are the pictures: The building process: Deck details: And finally, a stern view: Thanks for watching! And here's the link to the MOCpages-page. [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
  15. I might have a possible explanation If you take a close look at this picture, you'll see small stairs at the bow (and a Santa hat on the figurehead)here. You can also see them on this model ship. On HMS Trincomalee there are 2 gunport holes and a gap in the railings. Both of these ships have the toilets at the usual place on the bow. Somehow I can't reply at the moment so I'm just gonna edit this post: In the case of HMS Surprise I can still give a clear answer. As you can see here there are no toilets at the bow, but a sailor would still use the same spot. You can see this in a scene from the well-known movie here: However, I don't know the answer for real small ships like sloops. Guess it would just go over the railings.
  16. Nice ship. I like how you've combined classical elements from the IFS and other ships with your own ideas. However, could you please resize your pictures? The maximum allowed size is 800X600 pixles. If you've done so, I'll put this ship in our index
  17. This is becoming a very nice ship Of course it's a bit of a fantasy MOC, but it contains quite a lot of interesting techniques. I especially like the round gunports, the colourscheme, and the bow details. Perhaps you could make the poop deck a bit more narrow on future ships, that's all I can say. I'm looking forward to the next update. Will she get the same rigging and sails as the Unicorn? Also with square bowsprit sails?
  18. You've convinced me on the mizzen mast I guess it will be stable enough. The rigging looks quite good on the foremast, but you could consider using a different kind of rope. I think the ropes would look a lot better suited if they were more tight. It looks quite loose now which is a bit onfortunate on such a beautiful hull. The knotting technique and the colour look okay so I think just another type or rope will do the trick. It's just a suggestion but I wish you good luck anyways.
  19. Let's have a small comparison with how she looked in August 2010: It's definetely still the same ship, but with a completely different tumblehome technique. I already liked the ship back then, but only now I realize how many things you changed for the better in the meantime. I don't have any points of improvement, and you probably studied the 74 gunners more than I did. The only thing is that on models that I've seen, the gangboard poles are placed on a bigger distance from eachother. And I can't spot the stairs on the side of the ship Thanks for the update! Good to see one of these large projects still being alive. [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
  20. Very nice ship. I've deeplinked one of the pictures for you and I'll post it on our blog. [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
  21. Has this been blogged already? No it hasn't. Time to change that! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp] The only advice I can give you is to consider making the mizzen mast with the same bricks as the other ones. It will become a lot higher and I'm not sure if it will be sturdy enough. But what a beauty it is!
  22. Nice Good animation! The cannon shooting looked quite realistic. Perhaps you could try some different voices in the future to make it more clearly who's talking. Outside of that I like it!
  23. It's indeed very short. I wonder how useful such a short survey can be for TLG, but it appears to be enough for now. Is this survey only aimed at the Pirates theme? I didn't see it stated anywhere. Anyway, I think this forum is still very much alive so I guess the Pirates theme is still quite popular
  24. Hey Big Cam, I'm currently indexing the last 2 pages of Land Based MOCs so you don't have to do that anymore. When you're out of your dark age you can start with the newer ones (posted after today). :)

  25. Impressive! Although on the other side I agree with Foremast Jack, perhaps it's a bit oversized. I'm not sure if it will look good when you have a two deck ship with 100 cannons on one side. But the arrangements and deck details are looking good so far. I'd like to see more pictures, and find out more about the techniques you're using. Will it be modular? And if no, how are you going to move it? Seems like you're having some problems with uploading pictures. This will be much easier when you deeplink them. Just upload the image (in the right size, max. 800x600), upload it on Flickr, Brickshelf or Photobucket for example. Then make a post, click this image: and paste the link. There's a more detailed guide in my signature. Good luck!
