Looks great! I like how the gunports are in the middle of the black and yellow. The overall colourscheme and shape are good as well. But how accurate is your placement of the masts? It could be due to the camera angle, but the space between the masts seems to be almost even, whilst the space between main and foremast should be much larger than the space between main and mizzen (as you can see here). And why doesn't your figurehead wear any pants? Anyway, keep it up! This is becoming a very fine vessel!

I've indexed them both. However, Sebeus Iniwum, I didn't know the Dutchman was finished. It still lacks a lot of yards. Aren't you going to finish her anymore? Such a beautiful ship needs a finishing touch! As for halfpenguinhalflego, the trireme has been indexed as well. Could you add the following to the top of your post there? My powers don't reach that far [url="http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8875"][pid][/pid][/url] 130B Thank you!

Well as you can see I added a new post to the index especially for your ship If there had not been an image for this type already I should have added it to "unknown type", but you're lucky! Very nice ship by the way. Great to have this type in the index. Good job on the stern and the cow is also a nice touch. It adds to the realism.

Awesome! COngratulations! Now you don't have to hide your face anymore You've been a very reliable and hard working crewmember over the years so you definitely deserved it Enjoy your new powers and responsibilities and the rum of course!

Very nice build! I like how you did the birds and other small details. The light effect is great as well. One of my favourite things is the use of tan slopes at the bottom of the rocks. I can't remember having seen that before. Very original

That's exactly what we were in need of Excellent MOC! It looks almost as if it could be working for real! The scarecrow, the roof and the tiled walls are nice as well. Thanks for sharing.

Great ship! Looks to be inspired a bit by the Soleil Royal. The colourscheme looks very realistic and I also like the golden ornaments. Are you planning to make custom rigging or use the brown LEGO pieces? I think custom rigging would do this ship much more justice. Good luck!

Your folder is not public yet, which means we can see only 2 pictures. You need to resize your pictures (our max. allowed is 800X600 pixles) and deeplink them by clicking this button: and copy+paste the image link. I've deeplinked one of your pictures now.

Please don't quote all those pictures next time. I've deleted them now. Rather click the "Add Reply" button (on the bottom of the page) next time instead of "reply". Thanks in forward

I see you're going from sailing ships to space ships. It doesn't seem to be a big difference but it always feels like two different worlds. But it's great you're sort of combining the two (being a bit more on the SW-side of course) Anyway, enjoy your new task and abilities! You already have the skills

Cheers! This is fantastic! It's almost like a painting. The stormy elements in this MOC are great. The sailor ploughing through the waves is a nice detail as well. I can see your ships are also inspired by Derfel Cardarn, for example by the checkered pattern on the side. I also like how you did the waves. They look great on display. Do you have any tips for how to make the ship fit exactly in the waves? [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp] -> Yes I'm first!

Beautiful ship! I agree though, that the coins are too cheap a solution to such a magnificent build. I especially like how you did the sails, very professional with the sewn edges. The ship contains quite a few fantasy elements but it's great nevertheless. I also love the frontal view and the golden figurehead. I hope you'll keep on building ships By the way, you also made it to the Eurobricks frontpage!

Truly awesome! I love those narrow streets, very Piratey! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]

Awesome! I can't wait to see the pictures! I wonder how you did some of the changes like a smooth side and new ladders. Did you also consider using hoses for the headrails? (like on the Achille) I did make a largely functional rigging on the Vesta so that should also be possible, or you could add studding sails. I expect a great update! (even though it already was one of the best ships around) And of course dioramas kick megablocks too Have fun at Brickmania. Hopefully we can do something similar on Legoworld in the future.

Welcome to Eurobricks and nice MOC! It's always good to hear people coming out of their dark ages. This is a nice scene and I especially like the secret hatches. Keep it up!

Suggestion for and addition to "INDEX: Historic Ships"
Admiral Croissant replied to kurigan's topic in LEGO Pirates
Your suggestions are good indeed. But as you've probably realized, there are many historic/replica ships missing. The idea was that our members make their own thread of pictures when they've visited a ship. Then we (the crew) will add it to the index. Of course you can name a lot of ships that are missing, but it depends on your pictures whether or not we can add them. So you can post your pictures of the Constellation (and Kalmar Nickel in the future) and we'll add them. But sure they are both great additions! Thanks in forward! -
[Tutorial] Sailing ships - tech specs and workings
Admiral Croissant replied to Horry's topic in LEGO Pirates
That's okay. I didn't mean to critisize your work in any way Neither do I think that some elements in your tutorial are wrong. I just think it could be useful to show (links to) different possibilities of how they opened gunports and such. A guide is very useful, but when there are different solutions people can choose what they like best, which adds to the variety within ship MOCs. -
Nice ship! Even though it's not exactly clear to me what kind of ship it is. It's called C. Clipper, you call it a galleon, and to me it looks like a barque. But it doesn't matter a lot, I just had some doubt in which index I needed to place it. Good job anyway! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]

[Tutorial] Sailing ships - tech specs and workings
Admiral Croissant replied to Horry's topic in LEGO Pirates
Thanks for another great tutorial! I didn't know about the walls being used as hatches, where did you get that information? Perhaps you found it in a very useful book and then I'd like to have it The steering wheel image is also very clear. As for the gunports I'd like to add that there were different ways of opening them, like this (HMS Implacable): As you can see the two ropes are tied together. On USS Constitution you have double gunport hatches. On the Shtandart there's just one rope in the middle. And there are also many different ways for attaching a cannon to the ship, depending on the age and occasion. I couldn't find good examples of it but in the Historic & Replica Ships index you'll find different examples. -
Even Scientists like LEGO Pirates (video)
Admiral Croissant replied to Big Cam's topic in LEGO Pirates
Thanks for sharing! It's funny to see the pirates floating there and not realizing the big wave behind them -
Just an idea to make things kind of more interesting...
Admiral Croissant replied to Yawgmoth's topic in LEGO Pirates
How about creating a small image (like a flag) for each faction which people could place in their signature? We could also use this map (made by The Pompous Potentate (Napoleon)): Or perhaps there's a map in one of the old LEGO Pirate comics/magazines? We could also make a map based on this or this image. -
You've done a nice job on the rigging so far I have a few suggestions but if you don't want to be accurate you don't need to apply them. On every large sailing ship I know, the main yard (the lowest one) on every mast is at the same heigth as the first "crow's nest", which is also the place where all the shrouds lead to. So two of your yards, and the shrouds, have been placed "wrong". And as you can see here, the shrouds lead much further towards the stern. And they become a lot wider towards the deck. Anyway, these are just suggestions, but nevertheless I think it's a great ship!

That's a very nice upgrade! I really like all the new features. I'm thinking of using light bricks myself in the future, could you show us a picture of the light on the ship in the dark? [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]

Just an idea to make things kind of more interesting...
Admiral Croissant replied to Yawgmoth's topic in LEGO Pirates
I wasn't going to close this topic, but perhaps you're right, a link to the other thread is perhaps better than merging them. It was just a suggestion, and if the staff felt like they should be merged they could have done so. Anyway, I can't promise any contests and stuff in the near future but feel free to come up with ideas
