EB Xmas Raffle 2014 - Your Ideal Christmas Gift entry thread

A new drum set. My old one is showing some wear!! Jamie -
Continuing my series of 80's, Kenner toys. I also built the Body-Rigs and the Rebels, Vehicle Maintenance Energizer. I figured, since these are smaller models, I would post all of these in one topic. A Body-Rig was a small one-man vehicle designed and released by Kenner in 1985. They were even smaller than the Mini-Rigs. Two of the vehicles have managed to appear in Star Wars: Droids: the Imperial Sniper Vehicle and the Sand Skimmer Vehicle. First is the Imperial Sniper Vehicle . The Imperial Sniper Vehicle was a Repulsorlift craft piloted by one person. It featured a large open seat, two blaster cannons and a grappling claw. It eventually saw use during the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY. This model has 185 pieces. Next, is the Rebels, Security Scout Vehicle. The Security Scout Vehicle was a one-man repulsorlift craft used by the Rebel Alliance. It was piloted by a driver in an open seat. The vehicle had two blaster cannons and a rudder to steer. During the Galactic Civil War, the Security Scout Vehicle was used during the Battle of Hoth to eliminate any Imperial soldiers that were following Rebels to the Echo Base. They were later put to use during the Battle of Endor. The pilot, on this model, is held in place by a neck bracket with the control arms coming over head. Looks like it would be a blast to pilot, but, no cover from enemy fire. Seems like a risky vehicle to pilot?! This model has 86 pieces. Last for the Body-Rigs, is the Sand Skimmer Vehicle. A sandskimmer was a small one-man vehicle primarily used to travel in desert environments. Malakili, the keeper of Jabba's rancor, used one when he let the rancor out into Tatooine's Dune Sea for some exercise.[3] It also saw usage by Jabba's Skiff Guards. This model has 85 pieces. I'm having alot of fun making these. Re-living my childhood?! Re-creating them in Lego is alot of fun and challenging too! Hope you guys like them!! The last model I am going to post to this topic is the Rebels, Vehicle Maintenance Energizer. This toy was released in 1982. This is something that no Hoth or Yavin base can go without. And, no Lego set-up should! What would you do if a piece falls off, you'll need this for the Mini-Figs to fix it!! Again, hope you guys like these and I'll post my Side Gunner, ATL Fighter, and White Witch soon. Thanks for looking, Jamie

Thanks guys, I can't wait to get them build in real bricks!! And, yes, I think this will fit in nicely with my Hoth sets. Thanks again, Jamie

Oops, I thought I posted this a few days after my MTV-7. Sorry! Anyways, here goes. The PDT-8 Personnel Deployment Transport was a small two-man vehicle used by the Rebel Alliance. It had two open spaces that could be used to transport people or cargo. It featured two large jet thrusters at the side and also had two small blaster cannons. The Rebel Alliance utilized several of these weapons during the Battle of Hoth in 3 ABY during the Galactic Civil War. Like with my other Mini-Rigs, I took the idea and made it a little practical, IMO. Having a transport for 2 droids, doesn't do alot on battle. So I made it a little larger, while still trying to keep the shape of the original. Also, scale is something that doesn't translate well from Kenner figure to Lego very well. So, it is probably pretty close to "scale" giving the difference in figures?! The troops can be let out of the rear, guns ready to under the ramp. But, like my MTV-7, I did make a smaller, more accurate model. One that is more in line with the original. Hope you guys like it. I will be building this and the other Mini-Rigs I did early next year. This model has 211 pieces. Thanks for looking, Jamie 11 - EU - Mini-Rig- PDT8 - Personnel Deployment Transport.lxf

I know it has been said before, but, this is really a nice clean build. Most impressive!! The force is strong with you!! Any chance of some pics of the belly of it? Where's the Blockade Runner? Thanks, Jamie

Hi, I'm sorry to say, but, building this, as is, is not possible. Lego doesn't make the pieces used in the colors used, ei, silver. You will have to paint it, or have it chromed yourself. Also, after looking at the model in LDD and putting the file into Brickstore, there are more color substitutions you would have to make, so painting it or chroming it yourself would be the way, you would have to go. The model itself has a total of 250 lots, with 1669 pieces. The total price would be about $580 US for it, that is buying new pieces, used will be less. That total is also without figures, they would be more. If you are still around and want the Bricklink xml file I made, post here. I will send you a PM. Jamie

I think I saw the first 2 movies, the first was great, the second, I think was ok. After that, they just went downhill! But, the MOC is fantastic. Creepy, but, fantastic! Good luck in the contest! Could post a link to it. I would be interested in seeing some of the other horror MOCs. I really like Friday the 13th and Walking Dead. Jamie

I can see them. It looks great. I'm really liking how it is turning out!! Great job so far guys!! But, is it possible to get different angles of the build. With the walls on the Saloon, you can't see the details added by the latest builder, dealer, tables, chair. I can see the cowboy, bar and stools, but, that's it. Thanks, Jamie
-
Yeah, I do plan on building them all!! As I said before, just need to wait for work to slow down and get some downtime! I think I am going to play with the smaller model and see if I can come up with a better way to get the shape right. I am also working on a Rebrickable to file for a massive Bricklink order. I will be posting the last Mini-Rig later today, PDT-8. I will also work on a "family photo" too. Thanks, Jamie

Today, I present the MTV-7 Mini-Rig from the Kenner Star Wars line from the 80's. The MTV-7 Multi-Terrain Vehicle[1] was a wheeled scouting car utilized by the Imperial Army during the prime years of the Galactic Civil War. In addition to the vehicle's basic upright position, the MTV-7's large double wheels,[2] each featuring grooved surface treading,[3] extended outward from the main body to adopt a low, ground-hugging configuration.[2] Such versatility made the MTV-7 adaptable to many environments, and the vehicle was easier to deploy than the Empire's All Terrain Scout Transport walker.[3] Armed with a single rotating laser cannon, the MTV-7 held room for a single pilot in an open-air cockpit—unlike speeder bikes, the MTV-7 did not require a pilot possessed of suicidal tendencies.[3] A forward-facing, grilled headlight was positioned at the front of the vehicle.[2] This is my largest Mini-Rig. The original model had room for one Snowtrooper. I took the idea of it and made in more of a troop carrier for rough terrain. There is room for a driver, 3 troops, and 1 gunner. To get the angles on the wheels, I used click-hinges. But, I did make a smaller version of this model, one that is more in line with original. I wish there were smaller slopes, the sides of the smaller model are so flat. I like them both, even thou, the larger isn't really true to the source material. The larger has 355 pieces in it. The smaller has 130. The lxf is attached and includes both model in it. Jamie 10 - EU - Mini-Rig - MTV-7 - Multi-Terrain Vehicle.lxf

In Ldraw you can make your own and you can include your own steps. In other words. You can add a few pieces, add a step, add pieces, add step, add pieces, add step. You can do this all as you wish. In LDD you can't add your own steps. They do it all, which is why we have problems with it. It's been ages since I used Ldraw, I like LDD more now and this something I overcame, but, it is one thing I wish LDD had. Hope this helps and if you have anymore questions ask! Jamie

Thanks guys, I'm having alot of fun doing these Mini-Rigs. But, I didn't stop there. I have completed the Body-Rigs from the 80's Kenner Star Wars line. I am also working on The White Witch, The ATL Fighter, and Side Gunner from the Droids cartoon in the 80's. I also, just finished the, Freight-Loading External Rover, which wasn't ever produced as a toy. So there are just pics of it floating around. But, I did manage to get it to dock the a MF, atleast in LDD. I'll post more tomorrow. I don't want to flood the boards with 20 different MOCs. One a day shouldn't get me into trouble. Jamie

Up next in my series of Kenner Mini-Rigs from the 80's, is the ISP-6, Imperial Shuttle Pod. This is basically a mini version of the Imperial Shuttle seen in Return of the Jedi. The ISP-6 Imperial Shuttle Pod, was a small air/space vehicle used by the Imperial forces. A single-seat vehicle with a tri-wing configuration reminiscent of the larger Lambda-class shuttle, the ISP-6 was probably designed by Sienar Fleet Systems or Cygnus Spaceworks. It was a fast, compact transport, designed to be deployed from larger shuttles, and it was armed with two defensive blaster cannons for operations in combat zones. It also possessed a rear-view mirror to spot Rebel fighters from behind. After building is and getting the proportions about right, I looked and there was enough room for Vader as well as some cargo. I put a passage behind him, but, that may change when I build this early next year. Then again, I may have an Imperial Pilot fly this and have Vader kick back and relax while he does all the work. Going back to my MLC-3. The proportion of Lego mini-figs and Kenner Star Wars figures is way different. This design may fit an old Kenner fig, but, it's Lego so I may go with 2 figs in it. Wings up, landing gear down. Roomy?! There are 2 hinges on the top canopy, to access the whole interior of the ship. Wings fold up and down. Landing gear doesn't fit in the ship, it's too small of a build, they need to be taken when swooshing this around. I'm not completely happy with the nose. I may work on this later, but, I like it and think it fits in with the rest of the Kenner Mini-Rigs, thus far. I attacked the file to this if anybody would like to look at it or try to build this. This model is the second largest Mini-Rig I built, with 332 pieces in it. The MTV-7, has the highest pieces count, the MTV-7, Multi Terrain Vehicle will be posted tomorrow. Wow, this is a great idea for a MOC. Great job! The Planet in the background and golf club are nice touches. As is ET and the gang, Mr. Garrison and the Toy Story alien. Jamie

Yeah, I think Reddish Brown and/ or maybe Dark Orange. We will see when I get to building it, but, I did look at pieces in those colors while designing this. I also looked at HJR's model. I tried to avoid copying HJR model. Which is why I went with a SNOT cockpit. This led to another problem, colors. Plus, while looking at HJR's model and the thread he made here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=99417. He made a comment about that model being the most expensive he had build, price-per-part. So I tried to keep costs down. Using red and dark bluish gray maybe the way I build this, cause of price alone. We will see, Jamie

I planned on posting this last week, but, got side tracked by life: work, family stuff, and LDD RCB. Sorry for the delay. Up next in my series of Kenner Mini-Rigs from the 80's is the AST-5. The vehicle featured two blaster cannons, each capable of swiveling 360 degrees. The vehicle had a "sentry" mode, an "attack" mode wherein the engine section would rotate to a 90-degree angle with the pilot section, and a "pursuit" mode where the engine section would rotate to a parallel position with the pilot section. It could also at least temporarily enter space. Here is a shot of the pilot. Lots of SNOT! There's studs going every way possible in this model. Plus, it does rotate like the Kenner model and also, a Mini-Fig does fit in the cockpit. The only thing, I may, have to do to it, is try to incorporate some controls somehow. The cockpit is empty, maybe on the door?? Attack Mode I nicknamed this model "the flying coffin". Shot it down, cover with sand, done! This model has 161 pieces in it and I did attach the file for this, too. Someone suggested it in another thread for one of my Mini-Rigs. Thanks, Jamie 8 - EU - Mini-Rig - AST-5 - Armored Sentinel Transport.lxf

I'm starting to wonder if 16 builders with 300 parts each will be enough to "finish" this model. That's only 4800 pieces. 3 building started and none of them are close to being finished. Let alone, furnished! It is a big base. But, it look great so far. I like looking at the buildings, so far, and seeing 3 different takes on the building them. Techniques, architecture, and color scheme. Jamie

Cool, congrats to the both of you! -
I can't wait to see what is add to the Saloon and the rest of the town. This was alot of fun and out of my "comfort zone", I'm used to building space, Star Wars and Super Heroes. Hope you guys like it. Jamie

Done! Sent Dave a PM with what I have. I was looking at 1800's architecture yesterday and had a pretty good idea what I wanted to start building. I started a Saloon with a poker table. Jamie

Nice!! I always liked the MIDI "scale". WIsh it would have taken off and we would have had more models. But, the ISD and MF were cool. What are the piece counts?? Jamie

Rebrickable works well for me. I am adding these MOCs to Rebrickable in time. But, like Brickshelf they have to modded, so they take time. I have 4 or 5 added already. Jamie

I know what you mean!! I tried plates, but, didn't like the looks of any combinations, I tried. Feel free to download the file and modify it. Post you results here. I would love to someone else take a stab at these. Maybe you'll try something I didn't think of. Thanks, Jamie
