[SoNE Freebuild] Overhearings on Nar Eurbrikka
LegoFjotten replied to Artizan's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Nice build! My favourite part is the sewer & scrapyard section. The TIE looks great too, and I like how the build slopes downward from the back to the front. Good selection of minifigs too, makes the build come alive. Great work!- 19 replies

SoNE Contest Episode II: Escaping from the wreckage
LegoFjotten replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
To be precise, you mean "The rules for minifig part count only applies for parts that you've added that weren't part of the main build of the sets". Correct? -

Indeed. Stopped working on my entry after the rule change, but may submit it in it's current state even if it is weak. BTW, make sure you check the extra piece count on your awesome entry. The minifigs/minifig accessories/extra parts from the sets are not part of the pile, so I think you need to list them as extra parts. -
Great idea and execution!

Airspeeder looks awesome too!

Nice build! You have really done well with the limited set of parts!
-
Wow, great build Rook! That is really an excellent build from the parts pile!

Congrats to Peter Reid! I think the Exo Suit is awesome, and will get one as long as it's not messed up during the redesign / product process. The Bionicle / Hero Factory stuff I have zero love for, but mechs like this built with "real" parts can be awesome.

Excellent work! Instantly recognisable speeder style, and yet a completely original build! I like pretty much everything here! The front is great, so are the engines, gun & seats.

SoNE Contest Episode II: Escaping from the wreckage

An extra minifig counts as 1 piece right? Does it still count as one piece if you split it up, ie take of the helmet and place it elsewhere? I was going to suggest to Narbilu to swich the Sandtrooper helmet for a whole minifig and split it up, but then realized that I wasn't sure if it was according to the rules or not! -
[SoNE Free Build] RZ-2x Experimental Interceptor
LegoFjotten replied to LegoFjotten's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Thanks for the comments guys! I gotta admit the placement of the Astromech is a bit of a goof-up on my part, didn't think that through at all... I've actually made a small change moving the droid in front of the engine, just need to decide if I should do more changes before I reshoot. Maybe I'll try moving the engine back a bit too, to see if that works better, now the droid is a bit squeezed between the windshield and engine. As for the old gray, yeah, I'm not loving it either, but that's the color I have that part in. I tried a few other variations without the engines but none felt right. I wish it was possible for everyone to cyberswoosh it though, the extra weight added by the engines is awesome - it just feels right. -
Looks nice so far! The bottom section and upper right look good, but the upper left/middle could use some more work. Definitely use your quota of extra parts!

[SoNE Free Build 5] A Night At Hao's
LegoFjotten replied to MKJoshA's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Good luck with winning people over to studded floors! Unfortunately, I think it will be difficult to move past an "average moc" score with a studded floor in a "modern" indoor setting, but I'd love to see you prove me wrong! -

I like the outside base with the slopes and tiles, and I think the window works well. The overall composition of the indoor scene is nice, but there are two key things I would change: 1. There is too much black. It is hard to make details stand out when everything is black and much more difficult to photograph. You could try using stripes/rows in dark or light grey to break things up a bit, or simulate wall panels by using a different color. 2. The studded floor, it needs some tiles (or you can snot it using regular bricks). If you don't have enough tiles at the moment, invest $5 or $10 in tiles from Bricklink - you will probably use these in every SoNE MOC you build. -

Naah... it's just the angle of the photos that makes it look that way! -

Actually, the weight is perfect! The extra weight just makes it more swooshable, and the engines haven't fallen off so far. -
[SoNE Free Build] RZ-2x Experimental Interceptor
LegoFjotten posted a topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Similar to the RZ-1 Interceptor (or "A-Wing" as it was commonly called) the RZ-2x is a small but highly capable interceptor. The RZ-2x is equipped with three modified J-77 Event Horizon engines, making it (at this time) the fastest interceptor in the known galaxy. Unlike the RZ-1, it is Astromech compatible, with the Astromech handling weapon systems, shields, sensors and flight assist. With flight assist activated the Astromech will smooth out the pilot's movement making it easier to maintain control of the craft. This has proven to be a double edged sword though, if the Astromech is lost, the way the ship handles will change drastically for the worse. Like the RZ-1, armament consists of a set of Borstel RG-9 laser cannons, and 2 Dymek HM-6 Concussion Missile Launchers. It is also equipped with the same senors and countermeasures as the RZ-1. A very small number of prototype units have been produced so far, and there is a high chance it will never make it into full production due to the high costs of production and maintenance (production costs are twice as high as the RZ-1). C&C welcome! I want this to be judged. -
If your orders are reasonably sized (not too small) shipping costs are not bad at all. Byggeklodsen is the shop I've used the most and I can highly recommended it. The bricks are new too.

I think these sets look pretty good, will probably get all. Radagast and Thranduil are great, and I really like the statue. The necromancer doesn't look so hot though... Only complaint really is that the sets are a bit similar.

[SoNE Free Build] Over here Sergeant!
LegoFjotten replied to LegoFjotten's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Thanks for the comments! The base is pretty much stolen from Brickdoctor (he suggested it for one of my earlier builds). He built his base properly though, mine is just a cheap knock-off. :D Future builds will both be without a base and with different bases. For small vignettes like this I prefer a base without too much details. -
SoNE Contest Episode II: Escaping from the wreckage
LegoFjotten replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Another LDD related question: Is this a direction change in SoNE so future episodes will per default also allow LDD, or is it related to the fact that this episode is limited to a set of parts that not everybody may own? I actually missed the whole LDD thing on my first quick skim of the rules, gotta learn to pay more attention... -

Cool, very different indeed! Luckily I got all those sets already... -
Nice build, the new pictures looks a lot better! I like the details and the concept of the hologram table. Personally I prefer smoothing out the floor / roofs a bit with tiles, but that may just be my personal preference.

Thanks for the comments guys! As for the owl, owls are part of the Star Wars universe, though I agree it would look more at home in a Harry Potter moc.
