Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
LegoFjotten replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I think the bleys are most suited as base colours for imperial base use. Too much white might will give it more of a rebel or cloud city feeling. Check out variants 4460a and 4460b on Bricklink, available in both light and dark bluish gray (not sure what medium grey translates to). -
Like the SDCC exclusive Azog or the TC-14? On May 4th they will most likely have a promo item. There is no guarantee that it will be an exclusive item. Maybe we will get a nice poster like in 2009.
-
It means that we don't know what the May the 4th freebie will be. Could be TC-4, could be something else.

Picked up 4 of these in Norway last week.

Yes, results are in the episode thread: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=89320&st=25

Ay caramba! I hope It will be possible to get them up here too!

Very nice work Kaitan! Sewer is excellent, and the structure looks very Imperial! My only suggestions for improvement would be the ground floor which is a bit plain with the exposed studs (either dirty it up a bit more, or smooth it out), and perhaps add a small door or something to the upper section (behind the table) for some detail.

Finally a 40% sale, so I picked up a couple of these. Nice set, Royal Guards are good, Gunners are excellent. Very nice to have two useful heads beneath those gunner helmets. I actually enjoyed the small build too, not too shabby for a BP. I liked the new shooters a lot more than I thought I would. I too would have preferred replacing one of the royal guards with another useful fig.

You are right MstrOfPppts, dropping the bottom entries would still not be fair. Maybe top 5 is the most fair option after all.
-
That math does not hold up. Since the first 5 scores of each faction are scored differently, you cannot sum the scores and divide by number of participants to get an average. As soon as you have more than 5 entries, each new entry will decrease the average. What you think is a higher quality of builds for the Empire is just another flaw in the scoring system. To get something closer to a mathematically correct average, it is possible to scale back the first 5 entries by dividing them by 2.5 (so all scores are 1-10 points), and then divide by the number of participants, which gives (for Ep I): R: 9.6+9.2+8.8+8+7.6+7+6+6+6+6+6+5+5+5+4+3 = 102.2/16 = 6.3875 E: 9.2+8+8+7.6+7.2+5+5+4+4+3+3+2 = 66/12 = 5.5 But this doesn't really hold up either, so I think average score per builder is just no good as a measurement as long as two scoring systems are used. Overall, I think the episodes have been much much closer than the scores would indicate, and I really don't care which team wins as long as we see some great mocs and have fun building! Edit: Partially Ninja'd by Beaver, this is exactly what he is talking about.
-
That's not a bad idea actually. It is also possible to level the playing field further by limiting the number of entries counted for the total score to the number of participants in the faction with the lowest number of entries; For example in Ep 3, 9 Imperial entries, 11 Rebel entries -> Only the first 9 rebel entries are counted.

Jaw... dropped... Need some time to digest all those photos, but this is spectacular!

SoNE Contest Episode III: Return to Echo Base
LegoFjotten replied to Lobot's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Well, that is just not true. Anyway, I do agree that the scoring system should be adjusted to eliminate number of participants on either side to be a factor at all. Exactly how… I have no idea! -
SoNE Contest Episode III: Return to Echo Base
LegoFjotten replied to Lobot's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Congratulations Beaver, well deserved win! …and of course to the imps in general for their first victory! Edit: Hang on, I can't get the math on the scores to add up - is this some kind of Jedi Mind trick? -
Is that a new mold for the stormtrooper helmet or just different printing?

I doubt there are any fixed rules for this. -

Wonderful work! Fantastic! And it's Indiana Jones! We need more Indy mocs!

I think the astromech is just a custom build for the event, like the Luke & Vader models standing behind it. Look at the size of the thing, it's huge...

Sorry to bump, but does anyone know anything about when we can expect to see the Exo Suit as a finished product? I will fill a bucket with salty bitter tears if they don't include a classic spaceman.

Nice build MKJoshA, smooth! I like the base & the chaotic junkyard!

Wow a $350 UCS Sandcrawler, that might be a cool set, looking forward to hearing the details on this.

That's just a placeholder for the new Ithorian isn't it? The B-Wing or Phantom doesn't do anything for me in the prelims, but hopefully the figs are good.

As an alternative having challenges with no limits on setting / location could be fun & inclusive.

Set Restoration: Original (vintage) or new parts?
LegoFjotten replied to Yoshi648's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Opinions will differ, for me it would depend on the set and how you present it... "100% complete vintage 80's Lego blah blah..." - just ain't right if you've replaced parts For your average city set from the last 10 years, no big deal if a part has been replaced with a newer one (again, for me personally). Personally, I would just come clean with something like "A few missing parts replaced with new parts from BrickLink". You probably won't get a better price if you withhold it anyway...
