Yeah, they were still available online and in the Lego Stores. But obviously there are what...5 Lego Stores here in the UK? they were hard to find and completely unavailable in any of the other shops that sell Lego here - Toys R Us, Argos, Tesco...anywhere. I dread a repeat of that.
-
I'm thinking that too. I was so annoyed Space Police III wasn't available in shops here. It's my favourite theme...does anyone know the reason why the theme never made it to mainstream shops here? Anyway, I hope we're wrong - it's a fantastic theme and I'm sure it would sell very well over here - better than Pharaohs Quest by a long shot. But I've got a bad feeling about this. Maybe Lego has some statistics to prove Space themes don't sell well here or something...

I think the jetpack piece is still in black. I'll admit it looks like dark stone on the intructions, there's enough colour difference between that and the gun that I think it's black. Shame, but I prefer black anyway. As for availability in Europe you're correct - here in the UK we have the Mirror newspaper offers they run from time to time to get select promos - we're very lucky to have that and without it we'd have to depend on them turning up in shops. Which they do, very rarely and also very randomly - only certain branches of a store will carry them, and then they'll be hidden in a basket or something. And YES! the tail of the jet copter does look a little unstable, but that's something us AFOLs will surely be ableto mod out.

Very cool looking, this is definitely how I'd expect the model to look, only maybe with a pair of trans-orange lightsaber blades in the end of the weapons - I know they don't exist though. Still, really cool and I can certainly see how building with the new Hero Factory parts in LDD is preferable to using the Recon Team part of the Hero Factory website. I hope one day the generic Hero helmets will be available in other colours - namely the silver you've used here and the standard black. Hopefully we'll see them as part of the 4.0 heroes, or perhaps as part of store exclusive sets when we get the Summer wave...but I'm missing my original point of this post with that rant, sorry. Really great MOC, anyway and it's good to know that you can pretty much make him from the neck down when we get the new parts in Summer wave. Are you intending on doing that? I suppose it would be kind of pointless, what with him being essentially headless, but you could use Bulk's 3.0 helmet...though it would look a little out of place I think. Shame. Maybe using the original Bulk head and helmet?

Thankyou! the picture showed up just after you described it. Ahwell, it does look like a great set. Of course, it's yet to be seen how easy it will be to get ahold of this set. I'm not expecting this theme to be available in the UK for some reason, so it wouldn't make sense us getting the promo sets. But that's just me being a negative so-and-so. I'm sure you US chaps will get it in target or Wal Mart or whatever.

This new polybag set sounds really good...but the image isn't showing up for me....can anyone please re-post it...or even describe it? I'm somewhat desperate

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5 discussion
Rocketbilly replied to eiker86's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hmm you could be right, but I can see what appears to be a hinge at the bottom of the case (like the suitcase piece we've had for years) and only one "stud" on the top. Why would Lego put a random stud on top of such a specific piece? I think it's a clasp to hold it shut, personally. I could be wrong of course, but it definitely looks like it to me. -
Thanks! I've seen that picture before but nowhere near as clear as that and I'd also forgotten where to find it, so you've helped a lot. Looks like my all black or black/gunmetal Hero is possible after all, so I don't have to buy a load of extra sets for parts and decapitate my Jimi Stringer :

I'm loving the direction Hero Factory is taking, especially the concept of snapping on armour to limbs to make a hero, which is why I'm so happy about the online build-a-hero or whatever they're calling it (Recon Team?) Anyway, I'm aware that there wont be any exclusive parts for it, but I'm not sure exactly what that means. Does it mean we'll basically get to make a figure out of 100% already existing parts? or will existing parts be available in new colours also? I know there wont be any new molds, but I know there's going to be the exclusive black and silver marbled chest cap piece. What I'm wanting to know is, will it be possible for us to get, say, a generic Hero 2.0 helmet piece, but in black? I know that wont be appearing in the Summer wave so in order for it to exist Lego would have to specially produce it, which I suppose would make it an "exclusive" part, and thus I imagine the answer to my question would be "No". Does anyone know any more about how the system will work? I can't find anything else about it on the internet, but some speculation or opinions from others would be helpful. Maybe I've missed something I've already designed my Hero in my head, I just want to know if it's possible.

This is looking really good so far, it looks very menacing and detailed and really fits in with the Space Police III theme. Are you going to include a captured Space Police laser cannon in this, too? Great work so far.

It would indeed be nice if the viper-a-like was a tribute to the great Nnenn, yeah, but who knows? Has anyone noticed the foot closest to the camera on the walker? you might see it's trodden in some chewing gum...nice try, pinstripe suited civilian, but you're going to have to try harder than that to take down that monster... ALSO there's what appears to be a clip piece behind the sloped grille on the smallest set. A clip that looks like it could hold a gun for the alien, though the clip looks empty. Does anyone else see this, or could it be another part?

This is good. Very sterile looking, very crisp. I like it. The vehicles you've made also look really good. It's really big too, I'm always impressed by big bases, and this is no exception. That's a lot of brand new looking white! Weill done, impressive work.

Happy birthday WhiteFang! Thanks for all the hard work you do around Eurobricks, and I hope you had/are having a great day!

Thanks for pointing that out. It makes perfect sense, but it's a shame - as much a s I love the Alien commander, I can't help but feel the tentacles and torso look out of place together - there's just no smooth transition between the two pieces, if you know what I mean. The torso just ends too abruptly...some printing would help that I think.
-
A few observations: Two different ADU torsos. I'd seen them both before, but though that the "pilot" torso was just a prototype. Also has some sort of plastic bag printing on right leg. Only seems to appear in two different sets, both include an aerial vehicle for the ADU, so it makes sense. In the UFO abduction set, there appears to be a second alien ray gun clipped next to the light brick inside the cockpit. Looks a bit cramped in there. Also, maybe we're not getting an ADU soldier in this set after all. Shame, but we'll see. I could have sworn I'd seen pictures of the Alien commander having a sort of red stripe printing on his tentacles. Has anyone else seen this?
-
I think they will include the soldier. I doubt Lego would include the ADU barriers and the missile launcher otherwise, it wouldn't make sense with the "two factions in a box" thing Lego has going on. While kids could act out the farmer fighting back against the UFO, I believe the intent of the set is to have the ADU soldier rescue the helpless farmer from the aliens. Lego doesn't always show all elements of a set in one photograph sometimes, too.

I'm not sure where you got that information, but I don't think that the new shade of blue is a replacement for any existing colour, just a new one. Lego release colour charts, with little swatches of all the colours they use in a given year, along with their official, proper names (as opposed to AFOL Nomenclature like "Bley") and that colours serial number. Both of the colours appear on it. I could be wrong though, it's not a subject I'm up to date with. I believe Aanchir would know.

Ok, lots of nice pictures of the theme so far, but has any one seen any of the Tripod set? I ask because I want to see if it's legs are articulated to any degree. The ones I've seen so far aren't too clear, but I assume it's mobility will be somewhat limited. Anyone able to prove me wrong?

From the moment I saw preliminary box art, I thought that the Jet Copter was the weakest set of the line because I thought it was going to be BIG, like the Agents 2.0 helicopter. Now I see it out of box, I'm definitely going to get it if I can because it's a far nicer set than I thought it would be, owing to the combinable alien ships, the fact I've realised it's a far nicer size and it's general aesthetic is far nicer than the blurry preliminary pictures could have show (Who'd have known! ) This is ALREADY my favourite theme for next year, ideally I'd like to buy multiples of each set. They just keep getting better every time I see them. Well, apart from the mothership....but I know I won tbe able to. That would cost a fortune. But I can definitely see some tough decisions when it comes to which sets to buy. Regarding the trans-green dome on the back of the tripod - I think it's to keep the alien pet, not humans. Doesn't look like a minifgure would fit. You could probably cram one there, though. These aliens don't seem too concerned with Human rights, after all.
-
I'm pretty sure it's the two little alien ships from the Jet Copter set, combined. That's a pretty cool feature!

American Psycho is a great novel. Fun to read on the bus with a curious pensioner reading over your shoulder. At the moment, I'm reading Frankie Boyle's autobiography, My Shit Life So Far. Yes. Pretty funny as you'd expect. Well, pretty fun as you'd expect if you were a fan of Mr. Boyles. He's not everybody's cup of tea.
-
Really? that's great news, where does this information come from?
-
Regarding the abduction feature of the UFO set: i think it will use transparent cylinder pieces and a light brick that will give a sort of "tractor beam" effect - the cylinder would close around the minifgure (similar to the SP III Prison pods)and light up, giving the impression the the figure was trapped in a beam of light. Of course, it would have to retract back up and somehow hold the minifigure, and given the price range of the set, it's unlikely there'll be much of a complex mechanism. But maybe it'll be something like that.

Really nice! Space Police is my favourite theme (though I only own the more recent sets and a few random parts from the older ones) and I think you've made a really good job of this. Here in England, Space Police sets are not available through normal shops, and can only be bought from Lego Brand stores (of which there are very few, and none near to me) or Lego.com so I have to rely on older pieces for my Space Police MOCs so I can certainly appreciate your use of the older blue canopy piece and some of the older thrusters etc. I think it gives the MOC a classic feel. It looks sleek and fast and I also think it's superior to the VX Falcon that comes with the Hyperspeed Pursuit set. Also, I'm jealous of your laser guns And finally...I was going to comment on your topic you made about your Skull Twins speeder, but I'll just do it here instead - it's also I nice little MOC ansd suits the theme very well. I could see this pair of ships being released as a proper set in the theme Will/Rocketbilly
