A nice, desolate looking vignette, but I think you should have made the walls on the sides brick built instead of sideways plates. The plates don't look very good and the give the whole thing a half-hearted look.

Murder on the Emerald Express: Chapter 15
Sir Dillon replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I would like to come along! I don't want to be left here in the control of the council. -

Blowing up the tanker would probably blow up the tracks too, right? -
BrickArms Prototypes from Brickfair
Sir Dillon replied to the enigma that is badger's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Thanks for the clear pictures Badger. These are all very nice, but I especially like the claymore and the new sniper rifle. On the claymore, I've noticed that the blade becomes slightly larger toward the tip than it is at the hilt (on your copy pictured others at BrickFair). Is this intentional, or perhaps something that could be changed in a later version? -
Thanks for posting this Athos. It's not often that we see Egyptian creations, and this one is very well done. The detailing around both entrances is fantastic, and the garden is nice as well. I agree with the flickr comment stating that the ground around the outside wall feels too bare, but it's not so much that it overly distracts from the creation on a whole.

Romans or Greeks/Spartans
Sir Dillon replied to Emperor Claudius Rome's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I understand you want to keep this topic active, but please try not to post unless you have something to contribute. People will post in it if they want to, but otherwise you'll just have to let it die. -
Murder on the Emerald Express: Chapter 14A
Sir Dillon replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
How about carrying it between ourselves, at least until we find a wagon or something. There is enough of us that we can rotate when others get tired. -
Thanks for joining and sharing your creation playerPS, I like it very much. The mixture of structure and landscape is done quite nicely, and everything is looks lively.

You have some nice details and a good ruined look, but overall the creation feels lacking. My main criticism would be that you built it as a box. That worked for the corridors of Moria, but with Osgiliath I think there should be the feeling that this is just part of a bigger scope, and it's hard to achieve that with solid walls on the sides.

I know what you mean. Most of your pictures aren't bad though, it was just that first one. The image you replaced it with might not be from as good of an angle, but it is a much better photograph. Another thing you might want to try in the future is to either enlarge your backdrop or crop your images, so the whole background is white.

Nice work. Crimson Wolf's original is very cool, and yours is a neat variation. I like your choice of colours, but the mixing could use a little smoothing. You have seemingly random spots of colour, and I think the overall effect is a little ugly. Perhaps it might help if you try to think about why something is the colour it is, and then use that to effect their placement. (For example, if the tan is plaster, and the white and grey are different types of stone.) The structures look good, and so does the bridge. One thing that caught my eye is the slopes under the arch on the bridge. I suggest either extending the bridge to eliminate those slopes, or add some on the other side. Having them on only one end like you do now looks bad to me.

Out of all the photographs you took, it seems you chose one of the only blurry pictures as the first image in your post. It's an eyesore, and ultimately turns people away. Your presentation is very important if you want to attract viewers, and therefore posting your best image first is a good idea. The creation itself is well done. Nothing particularly special, but a solid little build. The idea of Crown Soldiers inhabiting a troll fortress is an interesting one, considering I imagine it would usually be the other way around. I like the slopes attached walls, giving the building a bit of a ramshackle look.

Your first MOC built or your first posted online? Either way this is very well done. The amount of overhang on the tower looks odd to me, but it works from a fantasy view point I suppose. The landscaping and tree is very nice, and so is the ship, but in order for the forced perspective to work the ship would need to be in the background. Thanks for sharing!

I don't think I would be too excited about a line that is focused so heavily on siege engines, but your designs are very nice. My favourite of the series so far is Last Stand at The Gauntlet, but I also like Barricade Defense.

[MOC]: Blessed Agostino Novello Altarpiece
Sir Dillon replied to mautara's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Very nice work! Your use of colours and architectural styles is excellent, and makes your buildings very interesting to look at without taking focus away from the action. Instead of attaching them to Eurobricks, you can post them directly from Brickshelf using the You can manually type out the code for your pictures, or when posting just click this image: , and paste the url of your picture in the box that pops up. When embedding images, please remember not to use pictures larger than 800 x 600 pixels. Your images seem to all be a little larger than that, but I've added a thumbnail of your third creation to your original post so it isn't overlooked. I hope that helps! -
I still think the area between the roof and the battlements is too high, but the new roof looks great. The angles complement the tower in a way the square one couldn't. I'm glad you updated the this. The smaller details such as the dock are nice additions, but the roof really improves the overall effect of the creation.

The Penguin's Dwarven Archaeology. )
Sir Dillon replied to The Penguin's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Despite Dwarves originally being from the Castle line, this isn't a castle creation and would fit better in the Adventures line. I'll move this to the Action Themes forum. -

Maybe we could search the train shed for some kind of gas canister? -
Very nice! I like that you built a part of the mines other than Balin's Tomb. While that would have been neat too, it's what most other people build. You've done well in capturing the desperate flight of the fellowship, and the corridor looks satisfactorily worn down. One thing I don't like is the way you've used dark grey on the top right wall. You've spread dark grey roughly throughout the rest of the creation, so having a straight line of it there looks odd. For future projects, one idea would be a section of the battle for Osgiliath. You could decide how big you wanted it depending on your collection, and wouldn't have many restrictions as to how it needs to look.

A very funny premise! The building is plain, but works well enough to get the point across, and I like the mottled pathway. I actually preferred the creation when you had burgers coming out the other end though, because of how much more preposterous it made the whole thing. You're pictures might look better in the future if you turn off the flash.

The structure looks good, but I agree that the abundance of red feels overbearing. I also don't care for the use of round elements in the walls that aren't part of the timber framing. If you only have red roof pieces to work with, perhaps you could switch the rest of the red to a different colour? Red can look good as roofing, but it doesn't work so well when the building is red too.

Ninjas returning with LEGO Universe?
Sir Dillon replied to Skipper 24's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I think a future Ninja theme is definitely possible, but don't believe we can expect anything from the Universe artwork. Most of the characters and buildings I've seen appear to be created for the game. If the Universe game is successful, I wonder if there would be a chance of getting a theme based on it? -
The vehicle looks a little front heavy to me, but still a very well built creation. I find the drill particularly cool.

Murder on the Emerald Express: Chapter 13

I think I'm still over here too. Schmelt, I don't mind going together, but it might be safer if we cross one at a time. -
