I think you deserve credit for incorporating the pirate hulls into this creation, but it really doesn't work for me. Paddle wheel boats like this usually have low, square hulls, so the high curves on your creation look out of place. Good job with the colours and levels, though I agree with Cardinal Brick that the height looks out of proportion with the rest of the boat. I like the way you built the paddle wheel, and that everything opens up and is accessible is a neat feature. The two masts in the front are also a good looking touch.

Because sets revolving around Native American conflict would be such a sensitive subject, I think the best way to expand the line is to explore different tribes of Native Americans and their dwellings throughout the country. We already have tepees, but there could also be longhouses, wigwams, or pueblos like Athos suggested.

Report about new Western sets addressed to TLG
Sir Dillon replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thanks for writing out the report guys. It looks good. It is neat to see the Wild West theme fan base growing, but I do have to wonder how popular the theme would be with children outside of the United States. Do you think that kids in other continents are interested enough in such an American theme for it to be successful? -
Well done Batbrick! Killer Croc is not one of my favourite characters, but it seems he often gets overlooked, so it's good to see a creation focusing around him. I like the use of brown, giving the sewer a nice rusty and dirty feel.

Thanks for the comment Legostein! I'm not sure I want to be bringing up oppressive feelings for others, but I'm glad I was able to capture the right atmosphere. Thanks! I did get a little lazy when building the actual road. I wanted it to fit in with the rest of the display, but probably should have added some craters or other damage. Thank you! Thank you. Does this image give you a better look? The road isn't actually tiles, but bricks on their sides. Thanks Batbrick! I like the tanks and unusual looking vehicles we often see in this theme, but wanted to go for a more Death Race type of car with these, and I'm glad you like them. The sides weren't really meant to be seen in the overall display, so I didn't work much on them. It's nice to see you like them anyway. Thanks for the comment. Thanks Zouave!

Hello! Here are a few post apocalypse creations of mine that I built primarily for the BrickFair 09 ApocaLEGO display. It took me a few months to take and upload the pictures though, which is why I'm only posting these now. Brickshelf Gallery The building and road segment is built to fit in the standard designed by flickr users [Carter] and Robbyem, and the Chevrolet is based off designs by misterzumbi. Thanks for looking!

New element: Brick 1 x 1 with stud on 1 side
Sir Dillon replied to Rick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I am looking forward to getting some of these. For the most part you can use similar parts instead of this piece, but having a solid back and immobile stud will be very useful. Thanks for sharing the news Rick! -
What do you do when you build?
Sir Dillon replied to Darth Legolas's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I almost always listen to music when I build. I don't have a TV in the same room as my LEGO collection, but if I did I'm not sure if I would want to watch it while building, as I think I could be distracted by it too easily. Occasionally I'll have a drink nearby, but I usually don't drink anything while building and don't eat. Food can get my hands sticky, and I'm afraid I'll spill something. Years ago I spilled a little bit of soda on my Black Falcons' Fortress. It wasn't horribly bad, but I've been extra careful ever since. -
Fantasy Creatures in Historic Themes
Sir Dillon replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I generally prefer something other than creatures, but it depends on what they are. I don't care for the skeletons in the recent castle line, but I really like both the dwarves and the orcs/trolls. I enjoyed the creatures in the Viking line, but would have preferred a human adversary. -
I'm not particularly good at discerning piece counts, but that estimation seems a bit high. My guess would be <5000. Anyway, it's nice to see you're still working on this. It must be difficult to continue adding when so many of your pieces are already used. I do have to agree with I Scream Clone about the Medieval Market set. The buildings look great, but it's hard for me to see anything other than a set in the middle of your display. That's not necessarily a bad thing though, and I can understand why you wouldn't want to take them apart.

I remember seeing pictures of this from Brickcon, and it's nice to have some "official" photographs now. The landscaping is beautiful, really great work all around there; everything seems to fit together just right. My only complaint is that your barracks ends up looking inadequate next to everything else. Normally the building would be fine I think, but next to such impressive landscaping, I would like to see something more impressive. The little lake looks good with those large tiles, but shouldn't it continue off the edge of the baseplate? Considering you have a steady spring flowing into it, the lake would probably become a stream.

Excellent work SlyOwl! The upper grounds is full of great mechanisms and minifig action, and the lower half is a fun addition that brings a lot to the overall creation. Did you start building this before the start of the CCC?

Spanish Imperial Galleon - Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion
Sir Dillon replied to Bonaparte's topic in Pirate MOCs
Probably the best hull work I can recall seeing, and the whole ship is excellent. Did you guys find it easier or more difficult working together? -
Definitely not a nice way to start the day. I say we carefully dispose of both the bodies and the alien sample before anyone can be infected by the corpses.
-
Wow, that was quite quick! The speed alone with which you built this is intimidating. I agree that the red is an unattractive colour for castles, but even so this is very a nice build. The way you framed the brick sections is well done, I like the angled shape, and you've got some cool architectural details throughout.

playmobil project - tailor's shop
Sir Dillon replied to medieval_total_lego's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
It seems to me like you just built a variant of your sculptor's house. The Playmobil buildings are similar, but not to the extent yours are. The provided picture of the Playmobil model seems to be from the back, but it looks like the whole front and sides are made of stone, and a tudor back. This is a nice creation, but I think it would be more appreciated if it wasn't basically a copy of one of your other builds. -
Luther's Rose - Reformation Sunday Moasaic
Sir Dillon replied to wunztwice's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Did you graph this out before building, or just work from scratch? My main complaint is that the rose isn't very defined; I didn't realise what it was until I read the description. I don't have any good suggestions on how to fix that though. I haven't built a mosaic before so I can't appreciate what kind of work went into this, but for someone who doesn't regularly build mosaics this is probably decently good. -

Wow, you have really gone all out on this one. Fantastic work. I think the castle itself is one of your best builds, and the surrounding landscape and buildings just adds that much more to the whole creation. Well done indeed.

Actually, almost all steampunk creations were posted in the Other Themes section before being moved to Sci-Fi, so you would still be in the wrong place a couple years ago. My suggestion is to just search for the creations yourself on Brickshelf or Flickr. You'll have to look through a lot, but I think that's the best way to find what you're looking for. Since steampunk creations are in Sci-Fi, this thread also belongs there.

Thanks for the pictures CaptainRex110, but please do not imbed images larger than 800 x 600 in the forum. I've changed them to links.
