A nice drawing, especially the landscape. Even though you used a LEGO faction, this drawing fits better in community.

The Evolution Of Hrothingas castle Stage 5
Sir Dillon replied to DNL's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Well done! The extra mottling with all the greenery weathers the structure nicely. This was a great project, and some of the best castle builds I've seen. Excellent work. -
Even if you weren't able to build this as big as you wanted, it is still a very impressive creation, particularly the unusual base. The pikes and fence on the hills are very nice, and the inner grounds are filled with great details. The minifig action is also well done. I wonder if something like this would have done well in the battles contest? Good point. You also wouldn't want your enemies to have access to the door hinges.

Cool diorama, with some great action. The knight leaping through the flames is my favourite detail. While the action is very well done, I have a hard time figuring out the order of events. It seems both factions are coming from both sides, and due to the narrowness of the bridge, I don't understand how everyone could have become so spread out and intermingled, considering this appears to be the beginning of the skirmish.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Yeah, I've considered changing my Flickr screen name, but at this point I am not sure if it would clear up confusion or just make more.

A simple but nice vignette, with a funny premise. Dark green works well as stall roof.

Very well done, especially for a re-entry into the castle theme. The architecture is very nice; ornamental, but still practical looking. The cutaway tower is cool, and I like the burning wood on the house. Good luck in the contest!

Even if you dislike the behavior of someone else, that does not give you the grounds to insult them. Please don't do it again.

Murder on the Emerald Express: Discussion

I'm going to be away for the week starting tomorrow. I haven't been contributing much anyway, but hopefully my absence will be okay. -

I'm going to be away for the week starting tomorrow. I'd prefer if my character were kept alive until then, but I'll understand if he has to be killed off due to fairness or what have you. -
Hey Superliver, please don't quote the entire first post of a topic without a specific reason. Unless you state otherwise, we can just assume that you are replying to the original post, because that is the subject of the topic.

While that is an interesting coincidence, please try not to bring up threads unless you have something productive to add.

You like to live precariously, don't you? This creation might actually fit better in the Action Themes forum as part of the Adventures line, but since it isn't actually from the theme, and the building is ancient, I can let it stay here if you like. My favourite part of this creation is definitely the pillars and the way they're leaning, but the building itself is also very cool. I like the tree trunk a lot, but agree with Darkagent that the branches should be much larger. I also think the green swamp water could look better with some debris scattered about, even if they were just plant leaves.

Murder On the Emerald Express: Chapter 11

Hans Beckmen, David Gaylord, Conductor Max, and Jim Butcher all have one of those pins. It seems one of them might have been here previously. -
His behaviour is definitely very suspicions, but I'm not sure a member of the mafia would be so forward. He could just be confused as to how things work, but then he could also be a mafia who is confused as to how things work.

Thanks very much for the comments everyone. I appreciate it. Good points. To be honest, the name was chosen mainly because I liked the way the spider looks above the entrance. I do like the way the name implies a sort of hidden danger though.

Very nice hideout, I'm impressed. Everything is satisfactorily overgrown, the rocks look good, and the leaning tower is a cool touch. I'm not sure I understand all the details though, such as the horns along the top, or the trees growing out of the middle of the tower. I Scream Clone's suggestions are all good. If you don't want to buy a tripod though, it's possible to make do with various things lying about, such as books or LEGO. If you don't have space for a permanent photo booth setup, a large piece of paper or poster board, curved to cover the floor and the background works well, and so does a bed sheet. Also make sure to have plenty of light, preferably natural.

The Evolution of Hrothingas Castle Stage -6-
Sir Dillon replied to DNL's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Great work, a worthy final stage of this brilliant series. You've done very well capturing that sort of excessive detail that might have been put into the castle after it was no longer a practical defense. I especially like the tudor on the right tower. I look forward to stage five. Building the stages out of order is clever; it will probably save you a lot of time. -
I don't know if it would fit on a curved tower, but perhaps you get a roof similar to the one on the Green Grocer (on the right side) to work?
-
Thanks guys. I think I decided that my lack of female minifigures could be covered up by saying that the men were defending the village while the woman and children fled. But you're right, woman and children would have been a good addition.

Hello everyone, I'm Donald Sirna. I see you've already met my darling wife Aida. This is a dark day indeed. It's possible, but I'm not sure if the leader would put himself in the open like that.

I'd like to search for any other ways to the second floor, such as a different staircase or a ladder. -
