No offense to any sandcrawler fans, but I really wish they'd made the AT-AT a $300 set instead of that pile of junk :)

Lego prices are so high in Sweden that I sometimes buy new sets from Bricklink because it's so much cheaper than buying them retail or from online stores here, even when you consider the extra cost of shipping with Bricklink. Local second hand market is equally expensive. People look at bricklink prices and add 30% :P. Will have a look at ebay though.

A new 8455 or 8459 sells for 250 euro on bricklink. I'll save that money for 42030. 8265 can still be found at a fairly good price, and if it wasn't for 42030 I would already have bought it as it seems very good. 8069 seems like a nice set for only 50 euro. Same with 42006. There might be better ones, but not for that price. At least not around here.

I guess 8069 will be unavailable in a year, unlike 42006. So maybe I should start with that one (or better yet, get both :) The older ones are not so easy to get a hold of. At least not for an acceptable price. Which of the older sets in perticular would you recommend?

What microfighters are you hoping for in the next wave? Here's my wishlist: 1. AT-AT 2. AT-ST 3. Snowspeeder 4. Slave 1 5. Imperial landing craft

I decided to go with the unimog since it will soon be unavailable. I'm also going to buy a mid size construction vehicle set. Which one is better, 42006 excavator or 8069 backhoe?

9398 is the same price as 8110 here and I don't really like its looks. Maybe if it goes on sale though. 42009 is a lot of yellow pieces and is currently discounted on Amazon. It would probably come in handy if I want to build Designer-Han's hauler. I'll go for this or 8110 I think.

Oops! I searched for exactly that phrase but got zero hits. Mods, please delete this thread, I will use the other one.

Since I started building Lego again a couple of years ago, I have focused on the more advanced models in the Star Wars and City themes. The Technic brand has changed so much since I last built a set (in the early 90's) that it almost doesn't feel like Lego anymore (with the studless approach etc). But I am slowly starting to change my mind, especially after looking at all the wonderful MOC's presented in this forum. I think I just need to have a different mindset and don't look at Technic as "regular" Lego. The announcement of the 42030 Volvo loader also got me excited. It looks like a really great model. But that one isn't coming out in quite a few months, so I want to buy another set but can't quite make up my mind. I prefer the construction sets, both functionality wise and aestethically. Sober design without lots of colors and stickers etc is my kind of style. I like yellow and black :) Out of all sets released in the last few years, my favorite ones are the 8275 Bulldozer and the 8043 Excavator. However, both of those are ridiculously expensive now, so I won't go there. I love the looks of the 8264 Hauler (I also love dumbers in general), but it seems to lack any mechanical functionality. Out of the rest, the two most appealing sets are: 8110 Unimog Big set with lots of functions. Looks are decent and it seems like a good parts set for future MOC's. I can get it for less than 180 euro, which is pretty good here in Sweden where Lego is VERY expensive (as in all Scandinavian countries). 42006 Excavator Not as nice as 8043 but still seems like a fun build and can be motorized. Price seems fair; 60 euro + 30 euro for 8293 Power Functions. What do you think of those two sets? Or are there better ones? I'd also love to build one of all the awesome MOC's I've seen, but that will require much bricklinkning or buying lots of different sets. Or are there any good alternate "C-model" MOC's that can be built from just one single set (excluding motors)? Some smaller RC sports car would be cool.

Mods: If there's a similar thread already existing, fel free to merge. I couldn't find one. What's a good parts set to start with if I want to build the mk1 suv? In black preferably. I'm just getting back into technics and own zero studless sets.

Judging by bricklink prices, it seems that Germany and some east european countries like Romania and Bulgaria have the lowest prices. I buy almost all my Lego sets from bricklink. Even with a 30 euro shipping fee, it's usually cheaper than anywhere in Sweden. Scandinavian countries must have the highest Lego prices in Europe, probably because of our strong currencies. It's often twice the US prices.

Well, I work for the Volvo group, but not VCE (I'm Volvo IT actually :). But I have seen this perticular loader in person several times, and also if you look at images, the tyres doesn't look a lot like the real thing. They are too narrow, and the wheels/rims should be smaller with larger tyres. This might very well be true, but every Volvo loader I have seen IRL (and they are plenty since I live in Sweden) have had the tractor type tyres.

I haven't bought a technics set since the early 90's, save for a mini dozer, but I won't be able to resist this one, being a Volvo employee and all. There's a few things I don't like, but not enough to keep me away. The servo steering seems very strange, but I'm sure someone has solved that before I even lay my hands on this set. But my only real gripe are the wheels. Why have they put what looks like racing wheels on a construction vehicle? It looks completely off. Are there any other wheels in the same size that could be used? I'm guessing the ones on 8265 would be to small?

Any confirmation of the next UCS set yet?
-
I don't ser 300 new pieces in those pictures. I just double checked pictures of the previous one and the differences are not more than between the new snowspeeder and its billion predecessors. :P
-
The AT-AT looks almost identical to the last one. How many pieces did they change, ten at most? Still very ugly. Will we ever get a UCS AT-AT? :(
-
I got all four OT microfighters. The only one i'm a bit unhappy with is the star destroyer with its ugly pig's snout front (the build is great though). The Falcon is by far the best, it looks awesome.
-
That's great. An AT-AT is #1 on my wishlist for the next wave of micro fighters. This one's a bit larger though, I guess 200 pcs or so?

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here

I bought it for €150 from a Romanian bricklink store. Shipping was an additional hefty €30, but even with shipping included the total is still almost €50 less than in the original Lego online store. Lego is crazy expensive in Sweden. Hopefully it will be worth the money.
