  1. Someone would have to be crazy to pay that much money for a painted Lego model. The original creator of the model may have got his credit, but I still don't agree with selling someone else's design. Build and sell your own MOCs.
  2. that is cool This is the coolest 8880 alternate model that I have ever seen. LINK
  3. That's too bad to hear that about Paul's Gallardo. It was very well done and did follow the Lego Laws. If you slap some new Lamborghini styled wheel covers on it, you have yourself a set that IMO could have come straight from TLC. If I could find one flaw, it would be that he used the older style gear rack for the steering instead of the new one. But I guess when he built it the new one wasn't out yet, was it? Nico, that is great to hear that you have that many offers, that is very impressive! 700 Euro is about $900! WOW! Crowkillers said... Well, I got a response back from Lego and it was pretty much what I expected. Basically the automated - Your design would make a brilliant set, but unfortunately we cannot legally use your design and we already have a team of experts in Denmark who spend all day dreaming up new designs and models and they are probably already working on something similar to your design. Oh well... I tried. I find this part of the statement somewhat strange.
  4. I bought the container truck yesterday morning and the boys and I built it last night. IMO it is kind of lame.
  5. I fully agree. I think only the creator should be selling their own models or like you said at least give the proper credit to the designer. I made a topic about this a few days ago. Blakbird, can someone get into legal trouble for doing this if the original designer pursued it?
  6. I have built several smaller scale cars and a few other odds things and I don't think that I could ever part with any of my own custom built models. My kids built some things and want me to try and sell them on ebay, but I know that they are nothing that would really be worth selling. The main reason why they want me to sell their stuff is so they can get the new sets that have just been released. I told the kids that I would match whatever they earned. I make my kids do chores and then save up to get what they want, but they are really content on selling their MOCs. Whoever buys the kid's MOCs would more than likely just be buying them for parts, but it is hard to tell a kid that who just spent 2 weeks building something that they feel is special. So my question is has anyone sold anything that they have built or been offered money to sell their technic creations?
  7. I agree that white is common with some car brands, but rare with others. For example a white Subaru is a rarer color than a black one or blue one. I really wouldn't mind a white car at all if it is done right. I could also use some white parts as I don't really have many. Orange or a new metallic blue would be cool. Here is an awesome supercar in white that is anything but boring. The Lexus LFA
  8. This is more of a morale issue than anything else. On brickshelf right now there are about 5 other people who built Paul's car and added there own changes, which is completely fine because not only are not claiming it as their own design, but also have crowkillers credited in the description. There is nothing wrong with sharing ideas an posting pictures of your modded or bowwored ideas and sharing pictures, but posting models on the MOCpages that you used someone else's instrucions to build is something different. Unless you let everyone know where you got your ideas from. I see now that This Tom claims that everyone is copying the model because there are instructions available and he modified and changed the seats, the rear, the front, because he did not like them and he made improvements. The funny thing is, I really don't see these improvements.
  9. Here is a link from Brazil that I just found and I think you guys will see what I mean. There is no way that 2 people had the same idea here, especially when the original designer has instructions posted. LINK One of the Comments made: "Tom, your great MOC. I've seen some replicas of cars made from Technic pieces on some blogs and yours is the same level. The functions are pretty cool. No doubt a higher quality image would give even more value to your car." Now wouldn't anyone that used 90% of someone else's design correct this poster in the very next post by admitting that they are using someone else's design?
  10. Yes, they are definitely different people. Like I said, I e-mailed the original designer and he didn't seem to care, but that still doesn't make it morally right.
  11. My son was going through the MOCpages today and showed me a new technic Lamborghini car that someone has built. I am not going to post the link for the model in question, but the builder is calling it His Creation when it is clearly that of a well known technic builder, only the Rebuild is modified with parts that the builder didn't have or he changed some things that he didn't like. If you are going to post pictures of models that you built and you know that you used someone else's ideas or designs and they are blatantly obvious, shouldn't you give some form of credit to the original designer? I for one have built plenty of other people's MOC, but I would never post pictures of them without giving some form of props for doing so, even if I modified things or changed colors. I shot an e-mail with a link to the original designer and he replied back that this was just something that is to be expected and he really didn't care. Is this wrong or am I just making a mountain out of a molehill?
  12. Just found this on brickshelf LOL!!! "My wife wanted this set badly and I got REALLY Lucky as they were putting these on the shelf at Toys R Us as I was walking past. Today is our 3rd anniversary 7-14-2010 which makes this VERY Special." I WISH my wife was into Lego
  13. I called the local Toys"R"Us in my area and no such luck. I even called one in the next town.
  14. Really cool model! I like how you did the transmission. The yellow and black shifter plate look really cool together, I don't think that I have ever seen that done before. Lots of neat power fucnctions too. No need to compare your style to anyone else's. You have done many things that I have never seen before.
  15. That is awesome! I love the small RC cars because you can really zip them around.
  16. That compact 7 speed may be compact width wise, but definitely not height wise. And how can that offset axle and gear work properly? It's an intersting concept though.
  17. LOL. You can build just about anything without power functions.
  18. Wow, that second one with the supercharger is pretty neat. Actually they are all pretty darn cool.
  19. In my opinion Paul really raised the bar with his Gallardo and Murcielago models. I have his Gallardo model displayed in my Lego room and it really does feel like an actual car that I would expect from the Lego company. Like someone said before, I would love to have some real Lamborghini wheels, whether they are just covers or whole new wheels. That Reventon is cool, but also seems kind of Boxey.
  20. Hey Eric, Thanks for the link I looked through about 1000 pictures in 6 different sets at brickshelf and flickr and I didn't see one picture of any of Paul's cars. I also see that he has a copy of Industrial Designer's car
  21. Oh ok. This is the design that I was thinking about. This was the first one that I had seen these pieces used like that.
  22. Do anyone of you who attended know if a fellow by the name of Paul or Crowkillers was there? I am curious if he had his technic cars on display. I haven't seen any new pictures up yet from the event.
  23. Are those all Nico71's designs? Number 3 looks familiar.
  24. Just out of curiosity, did anyone attend the Brickworld event over the past weekend? I was wondering if Paul was there or happened to take any of his new models and would like to hear some first hand impressions of the new Lamborghini or if there were any other cool technic creations on hand. I have not seen any new pictures posted on brickshelf yet.
