Why do people insist on saying "Epic" failure? Do you even know what that means when you say that? You think no one will buy it because it doesn't have a working transmission and TLC will lose money? I don't really like the way it looks and I know that I will buy it as soon as it comes out. Everyone loves cars and this set will probably be one of, if not the top technic selling set all of next year. And more than likely in a few years from now people will be paying out the rear end to find a new unopened one.

That supercar was definitely not was I was expecting. IMO it doesn't appear to be anything exciting at all and not very inspired. Yeah, It has motor functions that open the doors and hood and moves the spoiler. Also, why isn't the black flex axle pushed the whole way in on the front spoiler? I don't like when things are built this way. HOG steering and no signs of a suspension. I just really had my hopes up for something much differnt.

That is what I am thinking as well. More of a 4 function transmission. It really doesn't make sense why they would include a 4 speed transmission that has been outdated for 15 years. And honestly, it seems kind of stupid to have a motor opening the doors and the hood. I can see maybe for the spoiler postion. Those are probably the 4 functions. Hood, Left door, Right door, and Spoiler. I was just checking around the net and there is an Indonesian Lego forum where they were discussing the 8070 supercar set back in the middle of July. Supposedly this new supercar looks like a mixture of a Lamborghini and Ferrari and is red in color. Red again?

Also as someone mentioned before that he should build something other than Supercars, I can agree with that, but also disagree in respect that some people only build construction vehicles, some only build Truck/Rigs. Paul apparently like to build cars. There is nothing wrong with that, especially since they seem to evolve with every new model that he builds. When comparing this to the Mustang model that he released a few years ago, you can see the evolution in how structurally sound this new model is. I looked at the rest of the pictures at his brickshelf folder and I am very impressed with the curves and angles that he achieved in the front end. If I can really nit pick one flaw, it would have to be that the stripes are too far apart for that year. They should be closer.

While I am not a huge fan of completely studless models, I must say that in my opinion the detail achieved here is mightly impressive and does appear to be spot on with the real life car. I can also understand when you critique the gaps in the body, but isn't that sort of a trademark with technic building?

8043 Excavator - Lego update
Meatman replied to tomacwhite's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
true, but in this case the 8043 doesn't have a neutral position. I was just tinkering around with a driving ring and new axle connector and I am not quite sure how this could become damaged over time. they seem to slide effortlessly. what pressure do you mean? -

why can't you just use the new styled axle connectors? the rings seem to slide over them smoothly. -
Steering problem question
Meatman replied to mdoupe's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I guess that is why TLC switched to the new steering arms and gear racks that are at odd lengths instead of even ones. Everything is based on odd numbers now, including the new differential boxes. -
It definitely shows. He has a nice story about himself and Mr. Kuipers here What amazes me is that he gives so much credit to one person, and there are others out there who steal/use ideas and never give any acknoledgement to anyone. I found pictures of crow's display at brickworld. That would have been awesome to see all of those cars in person.

At first glance I thought that this was a copy of Industrial Designers Modular concept car, but upon closer inspection you can see that they are completely different. I like the way part of the steering stays attached to the chassis and you just line up the gear rack accordingly with the steering gear. I also like the technique used for the studless transmission plate to line up properly with the driving rings, that was pretty slick. This model looks reletively simple, but yet also effective. This could be easily built from the supplied pictures. It would be neat to see crowkillers and Industrial Designer team up and build the ultimate supercar someday. I also agree that crowkillers letting kids play with the model at Brickworld was a step in the right direction for future building, especially since most kids really don't care about technic. My boys enjoy building in most themes, but enjoy technic most of all. Which in my opinion is a good thing.

Muscle cars instructions
Meatman replied to greumel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Are you looking for something like this? you can get lost for hours here Crowkillers is also supposedly working on a 1969 Camaro, but I haven't seen any updates for awhile. When it comes to cars, he is definitely one of the top guys in the world. There are some detailed pictures HERE that may give you a start in the right direction. -
The technic forum probably isn't the best forum to look for an answer to that question.
