  1. I think Penny is a fair lynch, but I don't think she's scum. Both her general play, which her scum mates would have kept telling her to wake up and stop attracting attention, and her reaction to being voted, none, imply she's not on a team. Ginny is not helpful, and has tried to look helpful and not done so. She is more of a wildcard than Penny to me. For that matter, you too, Patty, are in that unclear group. Care to make your townie case? I'd like to hear Ginny make a case for being a townie as well.
  2. I think Penny is too out of it to be scum. This person is playing just anti-town enough to be scum: Vote: Ginny (Captain Genaro)
  3. Why does that look scummy? It's not proof of towniness, but it's not scummy. Good town is active, participatory, which is the problem with lazy town... they make it harder to sniff out the scum. No apologies for helping the town, Billie. There is a question of why the votes were not accurate yesterday, and whether the non-voter will be penalised today. It could just be a slip of the tongue, but it could be something for us to take note of.
  4. The dreaded day five lull is upon us. All of the townies out there keeping their mouths shut are doing the rest of town a big disfavor. Don't worry about getting shot down. it's not so bad, and it really helps the town out, it really does. Penny accuses Oscar, and I point out how crazy that is. It sounds abrasive, but really, Penny is lower on my scum list now. I think scum (except for Shadell) established early on to not go against Oscar, so her being against him helps. Katie accuses me, and it's less crazy, but understandableish. Maybe she keeps up with it, maybe she takes it in and goes a different direction. Either way, it helps us know her character. Mike has reminded us that he was hung-ho against Daisy... which really could have been a trick, her riding my belly as a sucker fish rides the belly of a whale shark, but for the time being, I can give her the benefit of the doubt. Those who can't be bothered to speak, or are scummy and afraid of tripping up, well, you'll have to be the lynch/vig targets. What choice does town have? You won't assist town, and you have every chance to. I've read and reread the first few days, and don't want to again, but I'd love to see us get a hat-trick this game, one scumbum for each game day, so maybe I'll have to. We've had four in four days, so we're doing awesome so far. Let's just make this a team win, and not just the work of a few hard workers.
  5. I'm buying lots of classics with my Christmas cash. I got the first two volumes of the Floyd Gottfriedson Mickey Mouse books. Beautiful stuff, but I haven't read it yet. I got this year's Uncle Scrooge reprint, Only a Poor Old Man. I love Barks' stories, and this is supposed to be a great book. And I got the first of the new Nancy reprints. Nancy was a comic that baffled me as a kid (and the original author was dead and replaced when I read it), but in university I learned how trippy it can be, and how mechanically perfect. The first book, Nancy is Happy, is good, but it's from the early 40's, and he wasn't perfect as an artist until the 50's. But it's still enjoyable. Still on its way from Amazon is a big collection of Love and Rockets. I've read a little late era L&R, but never the original books. I just never got around to them, so I'm looking forward to learn what the hype is about. And there's still more on the way! My Amazon shopping cart is full! Good reading this holiday. Sadly, I couldn't get that Calvin & Hobbes box set I want. It just costs too much.
  6. If I have a reason not to put him on the list, maybe I can't explicitly state it publicly? I was confirmed to Oscar. I can't get into the details publicly. It's simply not good for town to spread that sort of info. Something to consider. I'm not just throwing names out willy-nilly. Anyway, whoever the last remaining scum is, there's likely just one or two. And they're in trouble. They don't have a "brain-trust" guiding them. They are all on their lonesome. And that's a lonely place to be at Christmas time.
  7. He'll probably sign up again under a new name next week.
  8. Still waters run deep. Is that your contribution? :hmph: When I was giving many legitimate reasons why Daisy was scummy, lots and lots of people were saying that I was simply fighting with her. No, she was fighting with me, as part of her scum strategy to fool the less attentive people in town. And you were one to fall for it. Lets review: Fred: Daisy is behaving in really scummy ways, and has a suspicious read on her (the frames) Daisy: Fred's an arrogant dick-sucking douchebag. Penny: Fred and Daisy are fighting! Does that seem sensible to you? For Fred, it's a pain in the megablocks, and doesn't make things more fun. I don't enjoy being a magnet for others lack of judgment. After that, I've already corroborated my (lack of) action with Oscar. And I've encouraged discussion and public claims, which give us hints as to who scum are as people die. As I like to say when confronted with utterly baseless claims: Vote to lynch me, I dare you to. Sorry, that wasn't supposed to be Penny above, but Katie.
  9. Sara helped confirm my story to others with her lunch, so I'm assuming she's town. If she was scum, she would have just kept it to herself, and not make the town block stronger. She's not on my list.Mike on the other hand really is a lazy lard-butt unconfirmed to me. I know he gave away his lunch on day one, but since scum received lunch, that would have been fair strategy. And Oscar was suckered into Daisy's story early on because of her megablocks hedgehog-licking, as with Tammy. It seems part of the scum strategy early on was to suck up to him, so maybe he'll have to look at who else has been doing so without actually providing help I had requested not to be part of big private conversations, so I don't really know what's going on.
  10. And quite possibly, you are one of them. Are you still claiming Oscar as the most likely to be scum? (Actually, that might be your biggest claim to towniness: no scum would go against the person leading the lynches. They are more likely to suck up to him as Daisy and Tammy were until their dying day.) Now, Oscar has a lot more info on who's helping the town and who isn't. So, some people that might look like lazy lard-butts might actually be working hard behind the scenes. But surely some are just lazy lard-butts. My lazy lard-butt list is currently: Penny, Billie, Ginny and Patty. I worked very hard to get Daisy removed from town, while multiple townies accused us as being townies arguing with each other. That was obviously not the case. I was using reason, and Daisy was using a scummy strategy of spitting bile, to paint me as an aggressor. With her proven scummy, I can be considered as safe as can be. I look forward to hearing lots and lots of accusations today. Go for it!
  11. He has the ability because he's been a respected member for years. He has been asked by the owners of the site to make judgment calls. I personally didn't think it was a good thread. You made some stuff up and labeled it "SHOCK NEWS." The best thing to do, not only here, but on the Internet in general, is to become a member of good standing, and build a reputation where your opinion is trusted. Instead, you made one post which was not true, and then two others where you slandered a respected member of the community ("Rick doesn’t like freedom of speech," "he was puffing his chest out like a gorilla," "desperate to exert power"). That's no way to be a member. As Rick has politely let you know, such "News" is acceptable in the actual Galaxy Squad thread. Why don't you add to the discussion there?
  12. Your post had no proof, it was just a silly, unlikely statement of conspiracy. And as for being an American, yeah, you have freedom of speech, but that has nothing to do with a web forum. The admin are entrusted to make judgment calls. If you want true freedom of speech, consider starting your own website, and posting everything you want to there. You are free to do that. Eurobricks is not obligated to host a discussion by you. Feel free to check the site out a bit and get used to it. There are loads of discussions going on. Very few of them are shut down. And welcome to the forum
  13. I'm not thrilled with this set, but there's a 100% chance of me getting it. Aquaman looks great. Mr. Freeze looks so-so. I prefer the old head. I like him with goggles. Mr. Freeze was never a well-designed character until he appeared in the Animated Series, so that's the one I've grown attracted to. The snow-patrol Batman is pretty silly, but I guess the company needs excuses to keep shipping out Batmen. Hopefully they'll try to expand things with the summer sets. At the very least, they could capitalise on the Man of Steel movie coming out. Oh, and great review! Thanks! I'm glad to see some good pics!
  14. I'm satisfied with those results. With all that flail yesterday, I think the few remaining scum will be getting quiet. Today might be a little quiet. And hopefully future scum are taking notes on the way the scum have been giving themselves away. A textbook way not to survive.
  15. Did someone say Westerns were popular? I didn't.
  16. What is the topic here? What discussion are you proposing?
  17. The Cuusoo sets seem aimed at adults, or at least teens. The Japanese sets had zero kid appeal, except to oddballs, and minecraft, well, I don't know who plays it, but I'd bet they're over 14. On top of that, Back to the Future, while a property, has been sleeping for about 20 years. The people that voted for it were likely in their 20s and 30s. I wonder how many Cuusoo voters are under 18. The Western town is appealing to the same adults who are buying the modular town series. Personally, I have little interest in town halls, but I bought one, because it was beautifully designed. I think the same thing can be said for the Western modular series.
  18. There is a question of why it is that all the (mostly male) AFOLs go crazy for furnished sets, like the modulars, and yes, Friends sets. Is that them out-growing their boyishness? At what age do boys learn to appreciate such things in their toys? There was a large overlap between Friends and Belleville conceptually, so I think it's fair to give a lot of credit to the designers for not dumbing down sets. Maybe market research was not collected on that point, or they found girls enjoying the assembly.
  19. Japan took their characters from China. There is a little difference in them, since mainland China simplified their characters in the 1960's or so, but, traditionally, they are the same. @Lyichir, the first and third picture are the same characters, as is the fourth one of the stickers in number two. Hopefully that simplifies Whitefang's answer for you.
  20. You just made a lot of that up. There is evidence that men have a tendency for spatial estimation, which makes them often better at video games, while women have a better nuance for patterns, which make them faster at language acquisition, but stuff like the pink thing is just untrue. Pink was a boys colour 100 years ago. It's a social thing, and not part of genetics. It's very hard to separate nature vs. nurture, since boys and girls are treated like boys and girls from birth, according to that society's values. They reinforce each other. This is a very interesting point! I don't know that it's true, but the quality of the sets shouldn't have been part of the debate. I think the sets were all well-made.
  21. Thanks for the review! I think this looks really good. SHIELD was never my favorite Marvel creation, but I enjoyed the flying car when it appeared. I wasn't blown away by the other vehicles in Marvel sets. They were decent, but not anything exciting, but I think I'll like this one. Looking forward to its release date on these shores next month!
  22. If you read the original Days of Future Past, a telepath mutant, Rachel Summers, sends adult Kitty Pryde back into the body of her teen self. Since Rachel isn't a character in the movies for lots of reasons, mainly, she's the adult daughter of Cyclops and Jean Grey, the mutant will have to be different. With Singer wanting to get McKellon on board, it seems it really will be both past and future. I just hope that they keep the past and future separated, with a single character link between them, like Xavier. The X-Men had time travel, but characters never just traveled around easily, and it was always just a character at a time. Thinking about it, Rachel Summers is an awesome character. I'd love to see her in the movies!
