  1. The opening vignette is forthcoming. I wrote it and set it up, but my MOC is lacklustre, so I'm going to spiff it up a bit tonight and try it again. The day will start around midnight Friday here, in 33 hours, assuming everyone checks in. If Pandora is still away, I'll plan to do it on Saturday.
  2. The Host Mr. def (def) - the teacher The Players Li'l Big Cam (Big Cam) - pooper Li'l Boy Wonder (Boy Wonder) - sleeps a lot Li'l Callmepie (CallMePie) - cranky Li'l Capt. Redblade (Capt. Each player will be given a character to play, who will be aligned with either the Town or the Scum. To win the game, the Town must kill off all the Scum, while the Scum needs to (knowingly) outnumber the Town. Third-party (neutral) characters have their own win conditions as outlined in their roles. 2. Each day you will be able to vote to lynch a player. Voting will be done in the following format; Vote: Player. Similarly, unvoting is to be done in the format; Unvote: Player. No other format will be accepted. A majority vote is required to lynch a player. The player with the most votes will be lynched. In the case of a tie, the mayor will decide the lynch, through their vote, or by PM if necessary. Voting is mandatory. Failure to vote will incur a vote penalty the following game day. 2.5. A mayor will be elected in the first 24 hours of the game day one. Voting for the mayor will be done in the following format:Mayor: Player. Unvoting for the mayor will not be allowed. One may vote for themselves. In the case of a tie, the first person to achieve that number will win. In the case that the mayor loses their life, a new mayor will be elected in the first 24 hours of the following game day. The mayors single duty will be that of tiebreaker. 3. A game day will last a maximum of 72 hours. You may not vote in the first 24 hours. The day will end when a majority vote has been reached after 72 hours. In the case of a unanimous vote, the day may end 24 hours early. After the day has been concluded, a night stage will commence, which will last 24 hours (or 48 hours if an emergency comes up). Night actions must be sent to the host in the first 24 20 hours of the night stage. 3.5. Players may not target the same player two nights in a row, and may not target themselves. 4. The alignment of lynched players, as well as any that died during the night, will be revealed at the beginning of the next day. 5. You may not quote or pretend to quote anything sent to you by the host via PM. That includes all the details of your character and role, as well as any night action results. Role claims and reporting of night action results are acceptable, but in your own words only. Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage. 6. Do not play the game outside the thread. Similarly, do not post out of character inside the thread. Game tactics and roles may only be discussed in the game thread or via PM with other players. Private discussion is done at your own risk and should be treated as part of the game. 7. If you are dead, you may not post in thread or discuss the game with any of the players. Any information you had becomes void, and may not be passed on. 8. You may not edit your posts. 9. You must post in every day thread. 10. If you encounter a problem or have a question, please contact the host via PM. Do not spam the hosts's PM box. 11. Violation of the above rules may result in a 5 vote penalty vote penalty per every 4 living players against you, and death upon further offense.
  3. Spidey on teams is a Joe Quesada thing. For 40 years, Spidey was never on any teams. I'm sure all the kids growing up on comics now think it's just fine, but it really goes against decades of history with the character. Oh well, as long as it sells...
  4. Bob and King, I put you on the list of subs, in case anybody drops out
  5. I think you'll find you are likely only an hour difference from me. Only the kiwis can stake claims into the distant future. It depends on your role. For most roles, having fun will be mandatory, but for a few, their roles will involve smashing their keyboard in rage with a clenched hammy fist from time to time. I've written the roles up well in advance this time, not allowing for confusion, hopefully, so you'll be able to tell by each players' play style which they've received.
  6. If that was your role, you must have known I was telling the truth about mine. Having a restriction that you can't kill members of your 'family' is, well, about as plausible as my role was. I can't think of how that makes any sense as a game role. Having a pair of lovers from opposing sides, sure, but having three people who you may not perform night actions on, including scum? Maybe this is just a kneejerk reaction, but I don't get it. I would have believed it if you told me though Bob, did you get this from Mafiawiki or somewhere? What was your thinking on that? But not so much, since he wasn't the investigator nor the neutral Anyway, I never check people's profiles or do stalking. The mods can see who logs in hidden as well, so that is a bad strategy. Plus, during games I log in for thirty seconds between classes at work, meaning that it looks like I'm popping in without posting, but I have a job, so, like, yeah, I won't always post. But people will still accuse for those reasons. The only time it really matters is when someone is getting accused a lot in thread, they read it all, then don't post. That's simply scummy looking. But, in terms of accusing people based on their activity, please look at the final day of Belleville mafia, where that strategy clearly lost the game, because someone thought I was "in the Portal"... Better to use voting patterns, posts, inconsistencies, Occam's Razor and so on.
  7. You should be careful about reading into that. I PM'ed with half the players out there, and wasn't working with most. I only really made plans with Sandy and TinyPies, and neither of them were Rufus, as it turns out.
  8. No worries. I think the game will be just fine with a few players less
  9. You should know that! No http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=43114&st=1300#entry1532822
  10. It'll be a couple of days still. I am starting vacation at the end of next week, and will be able to give it my full attention by then, but this week is still pretty tight for me, and I'm getting ready to participate in an art show next week. My work is tapering off though, and I have the day off on Thursday, so I may send everything out then, and the game can start on Friday. And Thursday for me is Wednesday night for most of you, so think late Wednesday, early Thursday. There won't be a night zero, since there are fewer players, and the slaughter should be put off a day. The confirmation thread will go up before roles are assigned so that you can get into role-playing before you know which side you're on, and that the opening vignettes aren't affected by me knowing people's roles. Key balance issues to note before going in; because of there being only 21 players instead of the 26 before: -no SK (no third parties at all!) -the scum start a player down -the town starts three players down. There will be six scum-recruitable townies randomly spread throughout the town, including power roles (statistically speaking, only two PR or so are likely to be recruitable). Recruited power roles will definitely lose their action, so as not to overpower the scum. Any scum-recruitable townie inducted into the masons will no longer be scum-recruitable. All number assignments will be done through random.org, which is the only way to get real randomness. I'll leave this thread open, in case anyone wants to strategize or think about ways to approach the game before starting. This will be fun
  11. Alright, we're good to go.
  12. Sorry, but un-signing ups are not accepted. I'll see what I can do to kill you off early
  13. Well, there are 21 solid sign-ups right now. I'll give it another 24 hours and see if anyone else wants to play, and start the game shortly after. Since there are less then the ideal of 25 or so, there won't be a night zero, letting the game breathe a little more.
  14. Awesome Kiel. I was thinking of PM'ing you... I'll give it the weekend to see if anyone else is interested, and if not, it'll be scaled back a pinch. If it goes from 26 to 20, I would take out one of the recruiting scum, allow them to pass recruitment to recruitees (which was restricted last game, not that it came up), and maybe I'd have to take out the SK. Those are my thoughts. We'll give it the weekend
  15. Thanks for your feedback. I don't know how much I emphasize team games so much as win for your team, which means participating rather than letting others do all the heavy lifting. It's more fun, and I think fun for others. In this game, my team was myself, but the role didn't do much to encourage lone wolf play. I wasn't really mucking up either side, and if there is suspicion cast upon me, it's much better for me to be useful to a side, rather than taken out. If you were to redo this game, and I don't necessarily think you should, I would emphasize the multiple sides beforehand, rather than have it a secret there are four or five factions. That would allow them to strategize and play off of each other a lot more.
  16. Well, by this weekend, I'll see how sign ups are. If I can't go above 20, I'm willing to cut the teams down a little and play a smaller game. Saves me time assembling your characters, though it cuts down on game length...
  17. The show must still be on many hours a day. When I was in university, it was on four or five times a night on all the different local channels, plus cable airing it however many times. It's not 'hot', but I'm sure it would still be popular with kids. They don't really know what 'new' is since it's all new to them. When I was a kid, I watched Astro Boy and Flintstones all the time with no clue they were 20 years old. At the very least, it has much better market saturation than TMNT does. If they only made classic vignettes, like Treehouse of Horror scenes, that would be more than enough incentive to get me to buy.
  18. Some people prefer the majority rule, some don't. I can go either way. I do it as top vote just to get people to shake up their game play at this point, but I'm not attached to it.
  19. Ah, but voting in my games is mandatory, and it's not a majority rule lynch. The voting is mandatory, but would people prefer a majority rule... or guaranteed lynching?
  20. There's a second difference in that if a player is blocked, they know the problem is on their end (usually), but if it's in the person being recruited, then the mason wouldn't know how to read it, whether it's scum or possibly town. That's why it would replace a framer, and a godfather. Rick, I know what you mean by doctor, but scum anti-mason-doctor seems just as complicated to explain... No worries, it'll be hammered out satisfactorily by the end.
  21. Well, the last game was close. The town was on the verge of flushing the scum out, so I'm working on a fair balance. Masons are a big swing to the town. So, recruitment blockers (on the side of the person being recruited, I would call it a recruiter blocker the other way around) is my suggested balance. It's really a lucky thing, unlikely to be successful. That's my thoughts. Anyone else care to weigh in? Now is the time.
  22. You couldn't tell? I labeled it a sequel of sorts in the sign up. And the theme was almost identical: mad person locks people up and makes them kill each other. Anyway, this game is not Eurobricks Mafia II, but it will be a worthy successor I would love to tell more, but again, surprises. People should be moderately happy.
  23. By all means, start thinking about how things might play out. That was one of the things that didn't happen too much, at least publicly, in the last game, discussion of how the mechanics would affect things. Since people have a better idea of how it plays out, discussing it before you get assigned a role and side might be fun! (and keep the thread up) And, about the theme, it is a sequel to Eurobricks Mafia as Eurobricks Mafia was a sequel to Bloodbrick.
  24. Scum-recruitable players should never know. As for town certainty of scum, say on night one they fail to recruit, they can be sure that person is: 1) scum 2) SK 3) possibly one of two recruit blocked players or 4) a possible miller. That is likely scum, not guarenteed scum. At the same time, the odds that they're scum goes up as they recruit, since the likelihood that scum block someone already a mason, or a blocker dies/gets lynched, making it a little more sure each night.
  25. With the speed of sign ups, the game may not start for a little while. I'm not going to hold the mafia thread hostage until this game gets enough sign ups, and will see the number of players at the end of the week. But it needs 25. I would actually be quite happy to start on March 17. I'm doing some work for an art show on March 16, and would be happy to have to not squeeze my time too much for this beforehand. After that, I have a 6 week vacation. I can start earlier, but it all depends on you!
