Eurobricks Mafia II: Mafia School: Conclusion
def replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Hopefully that fetish will eventually die out, since it's bad for games. There's some truth to the notion that if a solid veteran is alive day five, and they have no connection to the town block, there's a solid chance they are scum. But on day one, they shouldn't be obvious targets. Even for scum. They can use that argument to lynch a living veteran later in the game! I still think meta-gaming is something you have to do. If not, it's like throwing part of your arsenal in the garbage before the game starts.- 85 replies

Eurobricks Mafia II: Mafia School: Conclusion

I'm glad you had fun and learned something, Dave! I have to say, the town was really active! It's an opportunity to make mistakes, but it really does improve your play overall, and gives you something to consider your next game. And I'm glad people were able to have fun with a stripped down game like this. It was shorter on narrative, and had few surprises, but really was about the gameplay, and most of the players rose to the challenge- 85 replies

Eurobricks Mafia II: Mafia School: Conclusion

It was all a pretty crap situation, and ultimately, I blame myself for not putting the initial PMs in the confirmation thread. I worded all the initial PMs carefully, but when Zepher did as he did, I had to rush out that message. Then Walter was posting stuff assuming that all roles were mandatory, when they weren't (vig and lie detector), and I was pretty frustrated. I could either leave it as is, and get crapped on for misleading town after the game, or I could clarify it, and get crapped on for helping town, so I did as I did and said any in thread use of that info would get penalised. I know Murdock didn't care for it, but it ended up being the fairest way overall. It was a shitty thing, and I blame myself, but I think the damage control was fair. Honestly, unless you were locked in school where your cel-phone is forbidden, I don't get why people have excuses like this. In my life, no matter how busy I am, I always have had half an hour before bed to do whatever. Really, were you studying so hard you couldn't check in? I think the real reason was apathy. It's not the end of the world, but as the last player on your team, you were expected to participate. EB game days are 72 hours. Were you literally studying or sleeping for the last 72 hours, without time watching TV, or relaxing? I'm not trying to be a dick, but excuses like this are frustrating to me.- 85 replies

Eurobricks Mafia II: Mafia School: Conclusion

If I were recruiting, I would have gone for the 'middle' players, meaning not those out front, and not those barely posting. The chance of recruitment was equal, but those players were less likely to have PR roles fall onto them. That was the cause of a little digression on the deadboard with Scouty, I think. The wording was very deliberate on my part, to not say you were recruitable. Though many thought they were. Ultimately, it was my mistake to not post the roles in the confirmation thread.- 85 replies

Ah, and there was no watcher. There needed to be a pinch of ambiguity in the roles. Hinck was lucky to claim a role that wasn't there, and unlucky that town didn't believe it. Surprising, really.- 85 replies

Walter asked if he could do that, and I told him no. That goes against the spirit of the rules. There are so many ways to cheat, as the rules are stated now. But players need to follow the spirit of the rules instead. Only once have I invited someone into such a conversation, and that was Murdock in the Forest I, because I just wasn't in a place to play. That was bad play, and in general, it is bad play. Walter asked a lot of things, and I think they all got a 'no', so I deeply respect his asking and respecting the answer.- 85 replies

Your past Mafia experience My father, he is from Sicily. Your ability to focus on the game over the next 32 days So-so. I can give an hour a day for sure. Will you be able to keep up with 20 hour NA deadlines? Of course. Nobody goes without the Internet for 24 hours in first world countries these days. Your favorite Mafia moment Um, when I watched Shadows kill me, then got resurrected, but didn't get my results because dead players can't share results, even though I wasn't dead? Wait? Is the question 'favourite?' Hinckley lynching Sandy for claiming he was scum in Bloodbrick II was pretty memorable, and a good example of what town should never ever ever do. Tell me why you think Vanilla Townies are important or how they are most useful Vanilla is an under-appreciated flavour, just because it's white, and less recognizable than strawberry or chocolate. Actually, it's quite tasty, and when voting as a block, is quite powerful. (6 steps in a Mafia application?) Give me your word that you'll participate in whatever crazy concoction I've doctored to avoid the meta-gaming. It will take everyone's cooperation and to operate on their honor. I can promise that. Participation has never been my problem.

Eurobricks Mafia II: Mafia School: Conclusion
def replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I'll give you a hard time about the day one role PM thing for a long long time, but overall, you did good. I think you deserve the win. You could have been recruited, and a day one vanilla clear meant little in this game. That'll do pig, that'll do. The host has so many things to say! I insinuate a little in the morning vignettes, but I really can't say it all. Having an omnipotent eye over things gives me an unfair advantage in critiquing things, but it should be considered as feedback, for better or worse. Whether players know or not, all hosts keep an eye on who pays attention to things after they die, even in games they aren't hosting. Players who wipe their signature of their mafia identity the moment they die are less beloved. When you sign up, you sign up to the end. The deadboard is meant to support that. Speaking of which, Danny, where the hell are you?- 85 replies

I can't prove it, but I think there was a way to argue it. I believe you thought he was scummy, as I would have too. I said it in the deadboard, and I'll say it again here: it's not the failing, it's the not trying that is the problem.- 85 replies

Eurobricks Mafia II: Mafia School: Conclusion
def replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Town had a very lucky break in that scum killed scum early (which was part of the original plan, to balance the potential recruitments), and scum didn't manage any recruitments. If BoyWonder had managed to argue his way out of a lynch, and had one more night to recruit, there would have been a very strong chance of a successful recruitment, as both Peanuts and Walter were recruitable. Also, one night, there was no recruit attempt, which was a big mistake. Town definitely won, but it was slim. Scum let it slip through their fingers. I think Redblade could easily have argued his way out of his lynch, since there was suspicion on Walter and Peanuts. If he claimed that a mis-lynch on him could doom the town, letting scummy Walt and Peanuts reach parity on day nine, the masons really would have to rethink their lynch. Scum needs to try to the very end. All the same, the remaining town were all fairly active, putting a lot of stress on the scum. Town definitely won.- 85 replies

CONCLUSION Li'l Capt. Redblade stands alone in the garden. "Are we still playing? I thought the game was over. Was I expected to play? What about voting? Am I expected to vote? Do you want me to interact with people? Should I try? What about reading the day thread? Are we supposed to read the day thread, and post? Why won't people just play for me? How is someone going to expect me to play myself? Just because I signed up, doesn't mean I actually wanted to play. Some people, sheesh." His griping just rubs the remaining five the wrong way. "You guys are all sheep! The way you work together, and oust the single remaining person who doesn't participate! Total sheep!" The crowd is having none of it. "Get a haircut, ya lousy bum," somebody, probably Li'l Nightshroud, yells. Then they start on the poundings. Punches, kicks, hair pulling, and a hard sacking or two. Li'l Capt. Redblade won't be walking away from this. Inside, Mr. def has a rousing compliment to pass along. "Congratulations, all of you, you have taken out the final scum! That's it! They're gone! You win!" "Yay!" "Furthermore, you all pass! Congratulations!" "Yay!" "Except for you, Li'l Zepher, you cheated on day one by clearing yourself with your PM role, you fail!" TOWN WINS! Nice job! Well-played, town! Here are the night actions: PLAYER FEEDBACK This is done alphabetically. And as always, the host is not privy to PMs, so I can't comment on that at all, and all this has to be taken with a grain of salt. If you worked hard, and I can't see it, you'll have to have that personal fortitude to not be offended. Li'l Boy Wonder- You had three big blunders in this game. The first was doing very little in thread. Since others were participating, it made you stick out. Second, you didn't try to recruit one night. I can imagine your frustration at not being successful the first few nights, but statistically it was the thing you had to do. One recruitment would have swung the game. Third, you didn't defend yourself at all. Those are all things to keep in mind in the future. The 'no defence' thing is basically just dropping out on your team. Li'l Callmepie - You did great. I'm sure you're tired of praise, but you were not a strong player two years back, and you definitely are now. Li'l Capt. Redblade - You dropped out of the game due to studying. I never had that sort of constant studying routine in school (maybe why I'm hosting mafia games for a living now ), but you let your team down, whatever the reason. Play, be active, and don't quit. That should be your motto in a game like this. Li'l Cecilie - You got Dave'd out of the game. One thing I can say, you didn't do the TrumpetKing thing and kill every night. If you had, town would have lost. So being prudent with your night action helped keep town alive. Your role in the wrong hands may have doomed town. Li'l Chrome Knight - I heard you did stuff in PMs. You were spotty in thread, but very active when you were on the chopping block, which was great! Li'l Cornelius Murdock - You weren't able to do much, but on the bright side, you're turning into the new Rick, dying as soon as possible. I look forward to seeing you play scum some time. Li'l Danny Longlegs - You weren't around during or after the game Li'l Endgame - You did a solid job, especially after being brought into the masons. Li'l Fugazi - for whatever reason, you pinged a lot of people hard, but I don't know if it was on purpose or not. I don't know what to say. Li'l Hinckley - You did a great job sucking info out of people. It's amazing that even though these games are chosen at random, a handful of people just assume you're town. Li'l Kieldaman - I was really glad you played. You are an ideal vanilla player. Right or wrong, you are out there playing. No excuses. Li'l Nightshroud - You got a lot of commendations from your team. I think of you as a quieter player, and in this case it worked well. Li'l Palathadric - You were lynched for being scummy, and I don't know how much was on purpose. Hopefully it was partly because you were being active. Li'l Pandora - You got Dave'd as well. I think you did well in your strategy, but I think in thread you looked like a PR. If you were a little more out front, you may have looked more vanilla. It didn't have anything to do with why you were killed though. Li'l Peanuts - You were fairly active in thread after using your one-shot ability, but I'm surprised you didn't just claim it in thread. Li'l Pirate Dave - Yeah, you know what you did. It's one thing to blab your own secrets, but blabbing others is the worst! You kind of do wreck people's game. I was pissed for Hinck doing it to me in the Pearl. It really is a case by case thing, and sometimes it's good to blab, but in this game, all information should have been filtering into the Masons, and nothing going the other direction. Your name will become a verb for shafting other players by blabbing, so that should teach you. "Don't Dave me, man! You'll wreck my game!" Li'l Rick - You did a good job maintaining your normal attitude in thread. If someone compared your scum game to your town game, it would be hard to see a difference. With that in mind, I totally agreed with the questioning about why you were alive on day five. It's meta, but it's true. And also, you and Hinck always work so closely, so I thought the distance you were keeping looked scummy. But that was me knowing what was true. Li'l Scouty - You got shafted. There was little you could do. Li'l Trumpet King - you claimed scum in thread! Great! You shared your info with Hinck! Not great! You should have shared it with two people, at least, and not told the others who you told, but only that you told someone else. If you had done that, Hinck may have felt obligated to reveal what you told him about Boy Wonder in thread, to not be proven a liar. When you just share with one person like that, there is no obligation. Still, a decent, active day one. Li'l Walter Kovacs - You did really well for non-cleared townie. I had a similar situation in The Forest, where I was suspect for not being recruitable, and I told those guys, you need to be smarter than a single night result. Look at the play, not that one result. In that case, I failed, but you were successful here. Good job. And I appreciate you understanding every time I had to say no to you. For example, when you were blocked, you were still considered as targeting who you did. If you were to have been tracked the night you were blocked, the tracker would have gotten the results that you had targeted them. I don't mind clarifying rules and roles in PM at all, it's important for the host to clarify things as much as they can. Li'l Zepher - you did fine. You were safe the first 2-3 days because of that PM snafu, but after that, you were easily suspect as a recruit. You acted with the town block and kept you from having town waste PR actions on you.

It's doing much better than when I started collecting here five years back. LEGO has made a native language website, and stores like Toys R Us and Bic Camera have created up front feature sections for it (LEGO used to be stored in aisle). LEGO has also been holding events across the country, and opened one of there permanent centers in the Tokyo area. Here are some photos from an event held in my city last year: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=64457

DAY EIGHT Li'l Rick just wants to get his swing on. As the crowd comes for him, they demand answers. "Why aren't you wearing your crown, pal? Too good to mayor?" Li'l Kiel asks. But Li'l Rick ain't gonna get played like that. "My hair, buddy, you wouldn't know, you wig-wearer. Nothing touches this bed-head." Li'l Kiel is having none of it though. "I ain't your buddy, pal. Time we taught you some manners." While some might call what they do to him manners, most people would call it barbaric. When left for dead, Li'l Rick is as unhappy as before. What was learned? Well, a frown turned upside down can often still look like a frown. In the classroom, Mr. def prepares to teach his ever-decreasing pupils. "Yes, yes, Li'l Rick was scum. He was scumming up this place. Three correct lynches out of seven? That's a pretty good record." As per usual, he is suddenly startled. "And the se~ six of you?! Didn't you do this yesterday? Don't you have the buddy system? Hold hands on the way inside. Where is Li'l Endgame?" He looks out yonder window. "Hark! What light doth break on Li'l Endgame's li'l corpse?" He continues to narrate: "Li'l Endgame is now deceased. Of course, he was town." He summons his strength. "Okay, once again, vote for mayor. You know the drill!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Day eight has begun. You have just over 24 hours to elect a mayor, and then a further long, low-posting 48 hours to lynch someone. The Host Mr. def (def) - the teacher The Players Li'l Capt. Redblade (Capt. Redblade) - foppy hair Li'l Kieldaman (Kieldaman) - cosplay fanatic Li'l Nightshroud (Nightshroud) - poindexter Li'l Peanuts (Peanuts) - soft head Li'l Walter Kovacs (Walter Kovacs) - bandaged Li'l Zepher (Zepher) - not an alien The Dead Li'l Big Cam (Big Cam) - Died day one, butt blew up Li'l TrumpetKing (TrumpetKing) - Lynched day one - his enthusiasm was erratic Town Li'l DannyLongLegs (DannyLongLegs) - killed night one - swinging in Hell Scum Li'l Scouty (Scouty) - lynched on day two - piled on Townie Li'l Cornelius Murdock (Cornelius Murdock) - killed night two - Townie mayor of nothing Li'l Fugazi (Fugazi) - killed night two - Townie flew into the danger zone Li'l Palathadric (Palathadric) - lynched day three - Townie succumbed to peer pressure Li'l Cecilie (Cecilie) - killed night three - Townie had a bad case of the mayors Li'l Chromeknight (Chromeknight) - lynched day four - Townie too beautiful to live Li'l Pandora (Pandora) - killed night four - Townie lost her head, and then her hair Li'l Hinckley (Hinckley) - lynched day five - Scum pushing up daisies Li'l CallMePie (CallMePie) - killed night five - Townie mayored into oblivion Li'l BoyWonder (TheBoyWonder) - lynched day six - Scum smile couldn't be wiped off his face Li'l Pirate Dave (PirateDave84) - killed night six - Townie loose lips sank his ship Li'l Rick (Rick) - lynched day seven - Scum now decoiffed Li'l Endgame (Endgame) killed night seven - Townie sleeping with the trumpets Rules (deviations from the normal EB rules are struck-through) 1. Each player will be given a character to play, who will be aligned with either the Town or the Scum. To win the game, the Town must kill off all the Scum, while the Scum needs to (knowingly) outnumber the Town. Third-party (neutral) characters have their own win conditions as outlined in their roles. 2. Each day you will be able to vote to lynch a player. Voting will be done in the following format; Vote: Player. Similarly, unvoting is to be done in the format; Unvote: Player. No other format will be accepted. A majority vote is required to lynch a player. The player with the most votes will be lynched. In the case of a tie, the mayor will decide the lynch, through their vote, or by PM if necessary. Voting is mandatory. Failure to vote will incur a vote penalty the following game day. 2.5. A mayor will be elected in the first 24 hours of the game day one. Voting for the mayor will be done in the following format: Mayor: Player. Unvoting for the mayor will not be allowed. One may vote for themselves. In the case of a tie, the first person to achieve that number will win. In the case that the mayor loses their life, a new mayor will be elected in the first 24 hours of the following game day. The mayors single duty will be that of tiebreaker. 3. A game day will last a maximum of 72 hours. You may not vote in the first 24 hour. The day will end when a majority vote has been reached after 72 hours. In the case of a unanimous vote, the day may end 24 hours early. After the day has been concluded, a night stage will commence, which will last 24 hours (or 48 hours if an emergency comes up). Night actions must be sent to the host in the first 24 20 hours of the night stage. 3.5. Players may not target the same player two nights in a row, and may not target themselves. 4. The alignment of lynched players, as well as any that died during the night, will be revealed at the beginning of the next day. 5. You may not quote or pretend to quote anything sent to you by the host via PM. That includes all the details of your character and role, as well as any night action results. Role claims and reporting of night action results are acceptable, but in your own words only. Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage. 5.5 Do not use the wording of the host to publicly back up your claims. Statements about the game made before the game started are fair game, but those made in game should not be considered either way in strategising. 6. Do not play the game outside the thread. Similarly, do not post out of character inside the thread. Game tactics and roles may only be discussed in the game thread or via PM with other players. Private discussion is done at your own risk and should be treated as part of the game. 7. If you are dead, you may not post in thread or discuss the game with any of the players. Any information you had becomes void, and may not be passed on. 8. You may not edit your posts. 9. You must post in every day thread. 10. If you encounter a problem or have a question, please contact the host via PM. Do not spam the hosts's PM box. 11. Violation of the above rules may result in a 5 vote penalty vote penalty per every 4 living players against you, and death upon further offense.
