  1. It depends on if you think a scum role cop is likely, and then on top of that, that they have found the roles. In this case it was better to reveal, but I think in three out of four cases, keeping it secret at that point would be prudent.
  2. Don't work with me werewolf, too many people remember us from the last time...
  3. Thing is, the Werewolf is not an NPC, and is therefore open for votes. An easy day one vote is there for us... The Werewolf...
  4. A problem there was that the claims were still somewhat vague. Barky did reveal the watcher and doctor ( ), but it wasn't 100% clear. In retrospect, Barky's reveal was a pretty solid roadmap to town roles, but if I were you, I wouldn't have claimed. I would have played pretty much exactly as you did, not revealing, and killing the SK at night.
  5. It's apparently established that Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch are game for both universes, due to their history. http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=45667 It kind of makes sense. Quicksilver has always been more on the mutant side, while the Scarlet Witch on the Avengers side. I like them both, so I'm just happy to see them becoming mainstream characters I think movie box office receipts will have to drop a lot more before they work together on their established properties. For now, they are all doing pretty well without sharing properties.
  6. Pill of Insanity please, something about the name... Interesting, this pill system... I like it
  7. Who participates in a thread for a sequel to a two year old game they haven't played
  8. Oh, sorry, were you planning on killing the cop tonight, serial killer? I would hate to disrupt your plans
  9. Using my deductive skills, I've noticed one person who isn't here in this abstract landscape... The anonymous user... hmm... I'm napping soon, so I'd like to call dibs on the 'life saver' pill now, before I go to sleep. Thanks werewolf
  10. Hmm. Looks like I have some investigating to do...
  11. Thanks for the feedback Nothing too surprising for those on the Deadboard. One thing to state though, in defense of some of your interpretations of me: The thing with Nicholas and Gertrude wasn't that I was thought they were scum for voting for me. It was that their explanations for it, including some hypotheses that were way out there (sorry to say) that made me doubt they could believe it. I had no idea who they really were, and their experience and skill level, but I've seen lots of scum come up with unlikely scenarios in order to push for a lynch. And in that situation, I had no idea that scum knew the roles already, so coming up with elaborate, way off base theories to push a lynch that might reveal some town power roles seemed plausibly scummy to me. I really didn't expect scum to have a role cop. It goes back a few games, but it's never that a vote for me is a scum tell, there's always something about the way it's justified that sets me off. I would say 80% of the time, I don't call it as a scum tell. The explanation the other 20% strikes me as scummy.... not the vote, no, it's not the vote
  12. Alright, let's get this party ended. The cop is here.
  13. Now, this has been emphasised a lot, and I agree to a point, so I'm sorry if my attitude was one of the ones that people thought brought the game down; I can't say where I ranked in the hierarchy of bad behaviour. But I also agree with this: I also agree that the "strategy" excuse is not a decent reason. There was no advantage in that behaviour, particularly in this case. Luckily most involved aren't using that as an excuse, and seem to be taking personal responsibility for their behaviour.
  14. No worries, I grew up in Canada. I roughly know what quality the Canadian education system is in terms of Asian geography and history is Japan is very fierce about its native foods versus imports. Ramen is sold everywhere, but it is still labeled Chinese, despite being in the country a thousand years. Yakiniku is likewise country-wide, but it is always called Korean. I suppose it's all similar to how pizza in the West is called Italian, but in its current form its really American.
  15. Uh, no. It's made in Sapporo, Japan. The old factory has an all-you-can-eat restaurant that is utterly decadent. Is Sapporo beer truly Japanese? It's said that Japan's beer industry was somewhat built on Japan's invasion of China in the 30's. Lot's of European countries had enclaves there, especially Shanghai. Japan took over everything, and shipped the German beer factory technology back to Japan. I don't know if it was Asahi, Kirin, Sapporo or what manufacturer, but beer is not a native drink. Anyway, Sapporo beer is on tap everywhere in Sapporo, and is in no way Chinese (I've had Thai beer, Singaporean beer, Taiwanese beer, and to be honest, I don't think I even know the name of a Chinese beer manufacturer.)
  16. Sorry, by 'everyone,' I meant all the people interacting in thread with me that day. You were fine, and I think somewhere else I wrote that the three who were most understanding with my position was you, Belinda and Looney. The only reason I had decided to name you was that I was intent to reveal one if I had to, and you were the least useful role to town. It's very hard to be a successful protector. The watcher can be very useful, and the vig is often useful, but the protector is usually just lucky. Of the three, I felt you were the most expendable. Now, I have to say, I was only half playing a town game. I was totally sure Wang was town, which was great, but I was completely off in thinking Gertrude and Nicholas were scum (and I was betting my chance at a day six on that fact). The bodyguard/protector thing blipped me, but I was more intent on surviving day four than giving it full thought. I kept claiming I was blocked, but somewhere along the way, I was thinking that a bodyguard would block me, so that could be an answer. And my first notion was that Firuz' 'one-off' ability was the least likely, since I've seen scum claim that sort of role (like a jack-of-all trades role... it just happens to be a scum claim four out of five times). Then I didn't push it, since Belinda thought Barky was scum, and that was better than me being lynched. It wasn't me, so I pushed it to the back of my head. I was a lazy townie
  17. I had no idea what Dave was doing in thread. Normally he is a clear townie in thread, so I kept telling him, "Do that!" He was quite the accusation magnet. And no worries, Kadabra. At this point, any apologies should be aimed at Hinckley, not me. I'm sure it was more distressing to him as a host than it was to me as a player.
  18. Fhomess, I was waiting partially for effect, but first and foremost, I needed to send PMs to those three PRs and figure out my place. But my plan was pretty much set. I agree with much of your analysis, particularly with the scum role cop. Personally, I think it's too powerful a role for scum, giving them a leg up well beyond having a leg up already. I think this scum team would have won anyway, but that role made them that much more effective with their roles. Town, sorry I voted for scum way more than you did
  19. 1) Yay! 3) I honestly don't understand what has changed. I like inventor roles, especially if they are done better than I did in BB II. But a lot of the mechanics are sill over my head. I'm going to take a nap (wait, we're not in game, so I can go to bed, right?) and some time tomorrow I'll give feedback if I have any to give.
  20. No worries. In the course of many games, I've played a number of roles. I always try to play from a point of rationality, but I can forget that other people play the same way too, which disappoints me, but given a few days time, the logic of it all washes over me. If I was in your position, I probably would have done the same thing. As much as 'deals' are important, it was more important to take me out. I really wanted to help town to extend my game, but I couldn't be guaranteed to carry though. And I was already looking forward to backstabbing town on day six, to be honest. I have had two games where I made town mistakes at the expense of other players (Gotham and Yakuza), and I know it is a frustrating position to be in. But have no worry, the frustration I had with my backstabbing was gone within 48 hours. You're all good with me
  21. 1. I played in Eurodina. 2. I like this: 3. I'm going to fall in with Hinck. Less is more. Right now, winning has less to do with strategy than it does with lottery. But, it's great that you're putting it upfront; there's nothing to complain about if you know that's what you're signing up for
  22. I kind of said it, but to be clear: I really hoped it wouldn't get to that. I told Belinda I would name one person, just for the sake of my reputation in future games. If I made threats without consequence, that would lead people to not trust me in future games too! I didn't consider telling the roles if lynched as a something to hurt my reputation because the only reason I was in the position was because I was part of a paired SK team, which will likely never appear again. So, the chances of me ever making a play like that again are roughly 0%. I was stunned to see people in thread saying, "If you're going to blab, just do it now!" It was baffling, since my intent was never to blab.
  23. Actually, I can understand that. I was so annoyed at people lynching Wang on day 2, particularly the logic, 'Snarky was town so Wang is scum'. And I knew it didn't matter to me whatsoever as a neutral, but I just kept sticking up for him. Gah! I actually wrote on our Writeboard, "I can't shut up!" Yes, that's me It wasn't a bluff! I really knew what I said I did, and was holding you hostage! The only reason I pulled it back (in private) was that I would have felt bad shafting Belinda and Looney. The rest of the town were being total dicks, but those two were being very rational with me, so I told Belinda I'd only reveal Drub... Then Barky did it, and I was debating whether or not to reveal Looney (who ended up backstabbing me anyway...). Luckily the town chose not to lynch me. But, and I say this in all seriousness, there would have been consequences for lynching me ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So if Dillpickle was town, Belinda was town, and I didn't blab about Looney, how did scum know to kill the vig?
  24. But that was only on my last day, right? Up till then, I was trying to hide myself. Day four, I took off my pants and stretched my legs out on the table, as I lit a stogie. Cecilie said I was being arrogant on the Deadboard (not knowing who Helena was) but the truth is, I had written so much worse, melodramatic stuff to announce my ploy. I deleted it and toned it down a lot. She would have been (rightfully) appalled.
