Gah! Hopefully the non-lynch penalty is just a slap on the wrists this time around *Nevermind, cross-post -

Who is you? I wanted to vote for you. You must mean someone else... -

Only half of us have voted? Many can't be bothered to get involved? The night is about 80% over? -

Sorry, I'd just woke up when I said that, and missed the part in parentheses. Anyway, I still think it seems awful convenient there is a push for Rolfe all of a sudden. He was nowhere near my radar before. -

No, Byron had two. An hour and a half before you voted. Enough time to consult a scum board and come back. And add Penelope's to the votes that are going to try to save Byron, it seems. Dog is more suspicious that Byron, and Rolfe gets the vote... -

This is looking bad. How many people are up for lynch? Penelope Talbott (Palathadric) - 1 (def) The Great Byron (Bob) - 2 (Capt. Redblade, Trumpet) DoÄŸukan Akbulut (Dragonator) - 1 (Bob, Kristel) Rolfe (Redblade) 1 - (Adam) Terrence (Trumpet) 1 - (James) So, we need to get a majority lynch, we have about 24 hours left, and there were four lynch candidates (including Candy, which has been unvoted)... and Abigail and Jamie add new lynch candidates? Not entirely wrong to do if they have very strong reasons, but they are clearly helping not to have a majority lynch and basically throwing away their votes. It's as if they want to help the scum... or one of the lynch nominees were scum and they wanted to defend (though it's a little early to do so). I think there is a strong chance that scum is nominated already, and if we catch one tonight, we would have a great reason to lynch Abigail and/or Jamie tomorrow. I still think that Penelope has been the most off, but Byron had two votes at the time, making him somewhat of a vote-leader. Tentatively, I will: Unvote: Penelope (Palathadric) Vote: Byron (Bob) -

I'm getting a feeling that we're going to be in a lot of trouble soon if people don't start throwing votes out. We need a conviction today, and we need the time to change a vote if we go in the wrong direction. -

Voting's opened, so I'm going to lay a soft vote to get things started. Vote: Penelope (Palathadric) Let's see if: 1) you have something constructive to add 2) people bandwagon you 3) anyone else tries to save you Vote early and vote often! -

It's not random speculation. It's using past experience to try to feel our way through this situation. On top of that, you just did the same thing! I don't know if you're scum, but you're certainly being counter-productive -

I strongly agree. Votes can be taken back, but we need to use the time at our disposal. I doubt anyone who killed Donny publicly accused him first, unless he was vig killed, which I doubt he was. Scum often like to leave a distance between themselves and their targets. Not that I'm suggesting we question all the people that didn't accuse him. I hope he wasn't the watcher. That would be a rough start. But I'm assuming the voice in the sky isn't going to give hints to the roles of the deceased, since it would hurt the ability to bluff for town, as well as scum, I suppose. I had a soft finger pointing at Penelope, and it was because of a muddying statement. My scumdar isn't great with the idle chit chat, but I have found that there is a scum policy of saying, "maybe scum will do A, or they will do the exact opposite B." It is basically a non-statement, and either end can be picked up as a defence. I can't say it's is a damning offence, but if I had to throw a vote somewhere... -

Well, at the very least, we can take consolation in the fact that we didn't lose more than one in the night day. So, maybe there is no SK? And if we have a vig, they are showing some restraint Not bad for day one, but Donny's death tells us little, and we have no votes to base things on. I think we should vote today. We can't just lean on PRs. -

Yes. Demand means I must have it, when I said that I wouldn't vote for someone who might not have time to defend themselves. I demanded nothing. On day one, a defence and a reaction are basically the same thing. So, yes -

Let's be prudent in our choice of words. "demand" never came into it. Please don't paint me as a brute. It's daytime -

So, I was going to reply to this before the night ended, but I was just a little late. Now, quite possibly, this is the first time you were in one of these situations, I don't know. But, getting the day one vote going is a good thing. And defence is the word I used, but reaction is another way to put it. I've seen people put on the chopping block on day one who turn it around. Heck, I've turned it around on myself. And we can learn from it. But the voting has to start early, so that people have time to talk. I suggest you review the stories to see some examples of day one defences -

If we had to vote, I'd vote for Penelope. At this point, I don't want to see a bandwagon form without her being able to properly defend herself and the rest of us being able to switch votes/unvote if needed. Hopefully, on night two, we can get the ball rolling earlier so that we have more to work with. -

Now, this is unhelpful. Scum will try to lynch, and scum will hide in the shadows. I hereby proclaim Penelope as waffly. -

I am for a day one lynch. There is always a chance we will catch someone, especially if the pressure is put on some people and we see them react. I can think of three times we nailed Ferrari like scumbags on day one. On top of that, it really is something we can use in future days, once some of these scumbags start showing up. Unfortunately, the longer we wait, the less time we have to unvote and shift things around. I want to put my money where my mouth is, but I am on a lunch break from enforcing, and can't read all that's been said to throw a vote. Has everybody showed up? Back later, I have some knees to break. Some kid didn't cough up their lunch money. -

If it isn't hard enough to deal with the current economic downturn, we have to ferret out Ferraris? Well, I think we may just be able to do that -

I really appreciate being discussed as a good player, but I think that rep is overstated. I have done well when I had a number of town actions at my disposal, but am not a great vanilla player, nor great scum. And I spend too much time thinking of how to break games.... There are others who are more consistent, and have better scumdar <cough.. Rick, Shadows...> Anyway, Thingyman, I'll warn you, EB Mafia is not traditional mafia. It is very very slowed down, usually a 72 hour day and a 24 hour night, with a lot of roleplaying. I have played lots of 12/12 games, but stepping in that first time was a shock after playing here. It's very a different experience. Personally, I can't get fully involved with one of those realtime paced games right now, even if I had an American schedule. It's just too much attention. My last regular games ended up being 24/24, and even that was a lot of my attention-span. Work, family, hobbies, friends, they all get in the way of mafia! -
I've been out of the game for a while, and would love to jump back in. 1. What is your mafia experience here on EB? How about other sites? I've played a few dozen games at this point, both here and abroad. 2. What do you think of your performance in EB Mafia so far? What are your strengths and weakness? What do you want to improve? It's gotten to be solid. My strength is, well, I don't have much, to be honest. My weakness is squabbling. I'd like to complete a game without a squabble, and use my night actions effectively if I get any. 3. What do you think of the no-PM rule? It's great.

I'm ready to play! Not enough time to consider hosting right now, but I have a little more free time than before, and it might be fun.
