Harriet Slutter and the Philosopher's Balls: Chapter 6
def replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Mwah hah ha! I figured most people knew who I was on day four, but I saw no reason to reveal it on the deadboard. Figures Barky was Zepher. I was wondering if it was Rick, but in hindsight, yeah, those Deadboard posts were really Zepher-y. -
I won't be going back anytime soon. I loved it, but I don't have the money these days I wasn't sure what that ingredient was, but upon a little research, yup, it's bamboo. But the ingredients depend on the shop. There are a dozen ramen shops in every neighbourhood, all with their own recipes. That photo I posted was from a Google search. Here are two of my own: The broth is totally fatty, but oh so good!

I've been to Indonesia (Jakarta and Jogjakarta) and loved the food. Getting Ayamgoring on the street at a night stall was the highlight of the trip Now, I'm in Sapporo, and the greatest food here is miso ramen. Ramen are a kind of heavy Chinese noodles, pretty available everywhere these days, if only the cup-noodle version. In Sapporo, the broth is a rich, slightly creamy miso style, often with butter and corn in it. It rocks. It is among the best things I've ever eaten in my life. I considered ramen poverty food growing up in Canada, since Mr. Noodles ramen cost 33 cents each, but now I know what true ramen is like. Eating miso ramen is truly satisfying. Sapporo has lots of other foods, but none hit that sweet spot quite so well.

I agree, but I think two things made the situation get much crazier than normal: being relatively anonymous and the swear filter being taken off. I know I pressed a lot of people's buttons with my behaviour day four, but under normal circumstances, I really doubt they would have reacted the way they did. Some of it was gang mentality; once the first person told me to go megabluck myself (yeah, I'm going to remember being told that multiple times well into the future), others felt comfortable joining in, particularly not under their regular EB identity. Then, somewhere in the mix, the swear filter was removed. I'll trust Hinck that it wasn't meant to pick on me, but I think for many players, it was a license to wail on poor Helena, the sad lonely last third party. Likely, the scum were more restrained than the town. For me, I was pretty sure Belinda (whoever that was, I already forget) was scum. She was so kind and understanding in PM, after I died, I was sure she was playing me For Hinck, I said it on the deadboard, and I still think the same: a 24-hour time out was called for. This was, for me, a very rare experience of seeing a majority of players get out of hand, as opposed to just one or two. -

Thanks. Talking to Dave on our Writeboard, we were planning to do something that we had never seen in Mafia: holding the town hostage. It was delightful to do. And since I was SK, the first thing I said to Dave was what I said to Zepher in EB Mafia 1: The goal is not to win, it is to kill and cause chaos. If a SK wins, Yahtzee! But there should be no expectation of it without drastically changing the balance of the game by overpowering the role. -

For the record, other than Scubacarrot, who was very obviously Scubacarrot, I didn't really pay much attention to who was saying what, and I don't think I'll be reading through it again to figure out, so while I wrote that in response to you, I'm not necessarily saying you were someone who said that. -

No worries. As I wrote in the Deadboard, for the first 48 hours I thought it was pretty hilarious, then that last 24 it got pretty tiresome. I didn't appreciate being called a poor sport for my strategy, because it was a thought-out, legitimate strategy. I would never ruin people's game out of sour grapes. Anyway, thanks for the game, it was probably the most well-designed of all the four Hinck games I played, though I had my issue with my role changing halfway through. Pretty amazing nobody targeted me till day three. My Fanglish must have worked pretty well I also worked hard to use a lot of emoticons that I hate, just to not be like me, and probably only used " " once... Until day four -
Hey I haven't posted here in a while! I've been keeping at it, and some better, and some worse results. I have kept coloring my strips, though I'm printing black and white. The coloring got better, but there was still a gaudiness to it. In April, I started experimenting with the color a lot more, and liking it. And then I started going into even weaker colour-palette. And now I'm really happy with the style. And now and again, I have to do even less, pure black and white. I want a loose line, and I'm getting better and better with it as I do three pages a week. If only I could do more...

One thing that might improve your pages would be breaking down the text a little. Rather than have one big text box, make two (or three) little ones. It'll make the page more readable, and carry the eye as well

One thing I can say without spoiling the movie: that little Lego set, 76008, makes no sense whatsoever

I watched Iron Man 3 today. Overall, it was the best movie in the series. Best Iron Man movie? Not sure. As much as I love Marvel comics as a whole, Iron Man was always one of the weaker, less defined characters. His popularity now has to do with the 90's cartoon, and all those kids who watched it growing up and wanting to see the movie. His comics are better now, but for a long long time, he was better as an Avenger than as a solo book. So, I don't really care much about the true-to-the-book thing with this movie. And it really does veer off the books heavily. That said... It's got pretty awesome action and effects. There are a couple sour notes in it, but the story bounces around enough to make you forget. The movie is written by the guy who did Lethal Weapon, and in a lot of places it is just like that. Particularly the extended buddy-cop movie it turns into around half way in. But, so much other stuff delights when it kicks in. So, it probably is the most entertaining of the three, though Iron Man 1 is probably the most satisfying (until that boring ending fight). Plus, Happy Ending's Adam Pally has an amazing cameo, the always amazing Miguel Ferrer is the vice-president, and though he doesn't get much to do, Miguel Ferrer is awesome (watch him in Robocop or on Twin Peaks). Spoiler stuff:

We're all better off knowing that. Thanks! In other news, Singer announced two more X-Men for the next film: Bishop and Warpath. I pretty much hate Bishop. He's a nonsensical character, with vague, 90's-style powers. And became famous for having a mullet. He kind of sucks. That said, he makes sense for the film, since he's a future guy, and it'll likely be a small part. The second announcement was Warpath, one of my favorite 'new' X-Men. He's the brother of Thunderbird, one of the original Giant Size X-Men crew, and plays like a much more grounded Wolverine: heightened senses, enhanced physical, but none of the ridiculous backstory. He's a cool character, but unfortunately, like Bishop, will likely have a small part. The Wolverine is still looking terrible to me, and really, I don't even want to illegally download it to watch it at this point, but this next X-Film just sounds interesting.

Beautiful hosting job! One of the difficult things hosting here is hosts always want to up their game, putting pressure on the rest Great for all the players though And the students had me baffled as to who was telling the truth. Nice job -
Did you see Avengers? I suppose you'll be passing on Guardians of the Galaxy, then.

There was a study on coin flips, where a person was asked to flip a coin 100 times, and another asked to pretend to flip, but just write results. The researchers were always able to tell who lied. The liars equally distributed their flips to much. Real randomness would create runs of six or seven consecutive tails (or heads) but the takers thought that looked too fake. True randomness has repetition, which is why boy wonder has been scum 80% of the time, against all odds. Somebody will have that happen to them

Hasn't this thing started? Where's the confirmation thread? I'm town, by the way, in case you were unsure. The scum already know that though and are planning to take me out. Goddam meta-gamers

Eurobricks Mafia II: Mafia School: Conclusion

No worries, I was just clarifying I don't want to make it sound like the whole world is connected to the Internet, but to be fair, this is a web forum, and Lego is not a toy for desperately poor people. I just expect that 99% of posters here have an Internet connection in their home.- 85 replies

Eurobricks Mafia II: Mafia School: Conclusion
def replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I didn't mean for that to be taken as literal as that. I was trying to imagine a scenario where a person couldn't use a computer for days on end, and other than a camping trip or being locked in a boarding school, I can't imagine a situation where you can't manage some time daily at a computer. And even if it's not the case, it's better not to sign up if you can't fulfil your commitment. Most of the players haven't hosted, so they won't exactly know the feeling, but a host puts in a lot of hours. I don't expect players to match the number of hours of the host, but it is frustrating when so little time is spent.- 85 replies

Oh, Basement Jaxx, I just can't quit you! At first, I thought this was terrible, then I wanted to watch/listen to it again, then a third time. It might be brilliant.

It's a much better trailer than the previous ones. I'm still not so into it. The actor doesn't look like Superman to me. Just his neck being too thin. Maybe he'll pull it off though. Everyone felt the same way about Michael Keaton, and I think he made a good Batman. The best part for me was the father son scene with Costner. I hate Costner, but that is a solid bit of scene, and Superman's dad is probably a good role for him. Even in the few seconds it appears, it seems a genuine tear-jerker. Russell Crowe as Marlon Brando was a bit weird though.
