Scum had one recruitment, unless they happened to lose more than one in the first three days, in which case they would be able to recruit two. Off the top of my head, every EB game in over a year has had recruitments, except Q-Man's Belville, so it shouldn't have been that much of a surprise. I considered town pretty heavily weighted with two investigators and a kill investigator, so before the game I was worried it was unfair to scum.
-
One more afterthought: - The EB games staff know this already, but for the rest of you: I hosted this without Internet at my house. I moved in August, and I was supposed to have Internet in September... So much so that I held the sign up thread. Then I learned I wouldn't. So I hosted most of this game on the wi-fi available at Japan's McDonalds. It wasn't terrible, but when I ducked up a photo, I couldn't correct it since my editing software was at home and my net computer was at McDonalds. It made me a lot harder on myself, and also somewhat more frustrated dealing with PMs when I wasn't at McDonalds... considering this was a far more PM-heavy game than usual, that's all my fault for taking on the responsibility, so, for the most part, sorry if I was (too much of) a dick to anyone. My attitude was, say, 30% worse than the first Bloodbrick game.
-
My thoughts during the game: (I didn't keep notes consistently, but this is what I wrote) Day 1 - People stating I'll be angry if there's no conviction. Why? You have to vote, that's all. - Pie's 'no vote' idea is sound. He just acted like a dick first. - Hinck revealing his medicine is a dick move. A fair move for scum, but it removes some humor from the game. - Pie lies about being neutral= dumb X 10 - Pie claims "this is the most over heated day one." No, he's just participating. - Peanuts, post 306, "thief only helps scum." No, there are only scummy actions. If town is aggressive, scum actions can be very useful. In a game like this, any scum knowing they'll be on the block will choose the most useful action to die with them. A smart townie will steal that action to keep from losing it. Day 2 - Mainly well played - Hopefully badboy got Sok to trail Hinck night two. - I thought Shadows' Tracker reveal was a bad idea at first. Usually in this sort of game, revealing info is a 'dumb or scum' move, which would label him as scum. But since it's a first game for most, he could get away with it. And, when the tracker is killed, he has an alibi, since everyone knew about it (except the many players not reading the thread ) - Scum kill off one investigator, and badboy for knowing too much. They are lucky they got the gun first night one, but now they need to get it every night or else. Day 3 - Town megablocking sucks at this point. Badboy is in the afterlife saying Hinck is proven town. - The day before, Shadows saw Zeph target Rice, and he pounced on it. But nobody blinks that he isn't pouncing on Hinck, who was witnessed targeting Tammo. In the last game (Baritones 3), he pounced on WBD for being caught targeting, and also said that he trusted any player who spoke first (Ron in that game, Sandy in this one). Not one townie thought that was inconsistent. They all suck for not noticing this blatant scum tell. - Sandy publicly blabbed shit too soon, this time's Kiel's PM info. She did the same to me in the Forest. Lesson learned. Don't PM confidential stuff to Sandy. - While scum is certainly doing well, and and a little lucky with med picks, the bottom line is town megablocking sucks. Only Kiel and Rufus seem to be putting any brainpower toward solving stuff. -Flit and Alopex have had the bomb, and neither tried to lure scum in to die with a well placed statement. A team town player would play 'bait.' - megablocking megabluck, I wish people participated more than just leaning on some leaders. - Some players have the memory of a goldfish. Day 4 - Hinck is annoying. Day 5 - After four days in a row, the town manages to get the gun inventor. I clearly wonder if they'll be able to clearly "get" what it means. The best move in this case would be to out it, I think, but I imagine Murdock has a massive burden of who to trust. I don't know who he's PM'ing with. -Scum have had the advantage in medicine choice almost every shift one. By day three, I was telling them night results in a group PM, so all were getting notified at day start, while only the townies waiting for results were notified. Arguably it doesn't matter, as scum could notify each other. -Flitwick has no idea what he's talking about, and he's loud about it. He completely ignores the fact that Shadows and BC both went after the SK, which clears nobody. Both factions are happy to take out the SK, and of course, good scum, especially in a game with one scum faction, will work that to appear town. - Up to this point, Shadows and Hinck have been working to appear town. The other scum isn't doing much, in thread. - iamded and JimB "support" flitwick's theory, which is a horrible scum tell. The fact that they both scooped up ability meds they probably shouldn't have known to take is also a tell. Draggy said he had the option of giving a gun, which was false. Med user's must give a gun, but nobody caught it. Iamded is very conservative with Hinck and Jim's accusations, but loved Flitwick's accusation of Big Cam. Day 6 - A very quick day and a weak defense by iamded. -I wonder if Rufus/Pandora figured out that Murdock was blocked from giving the gun. If so, that would finger Shadows, but I think they're working together, Town has convicted three scum, but at least Shadows and Whtefang will be a challenge to uncover. Day 7 - The last pistol weilder was blacked out, for the sake of fairness. On the one hand, if I'd thought of it at the time, the third kill (after scum and SK) should have had its own avatar. Using a walrus almost concretely led it back to Jim and Deddy (and it didn't! there were lots of questions!). At the same time, I'm still 99% sure Jim and Deddy would have been lynched when they did. But still, it shouldn't have been a walrus. Shadows complained, and I thought it was fair, so I changed it. This gave scum a little advantage, but it was partly town's fault for making two mistakes that helped Draggy: 1) his saying the gun giving was optional and 2) town assumed there was only a one-night delay on the gun, when actually there was no expiry on it, as inventor roles often don't. - Rufus used Hinck's "strategy" to peg Brickdoctor. It's understandable, but I think scum wouldn't really get into their own strategy with any townies in order to build trust. It's possible, but I wouldn't, and Hinck didn't. Plus, scum needs to block roles! Not hide from them. That's the most important. -Rufus mentions that scum likes to stay in the middle, but I would consider Brickdoctor a back end floater, not in the middle. He's done nothing in particular. Day 8 - Town's only hope is cluing in that the doctor role kept conveniently surviving until Kiel took it. That fact is a massive finger pointing at scum! Massive! Since Shadows and Draggy tend to log in around the day start, all they need to do is log in and finish the day off. Sorry , Murdock did a good job. Scouts will be remembered for trying to start a Pelly vote in my mind. Big Cam showed up each day... That's fair enough. In the afterlife writeboard, I mentioned being up front about the style of game, and 'recruitment' is a style. Almost nobody mentioned recruitment on the night scum didn't make a regular kill. Recruitment is the status quo for mafia games here, so I never made a point of it, but I can understand your frustration at it.

The group natters and chatters amongst themselves about how to vote, but with so few people left, it's been decided. For the last time, the slender vixen enters the main hall. She marches up to Rickety Cannon and gives him a swift execution. She looks at the Walrus League and gives the the go ahead to remove the remaining patients. With appropriate swiftness, they snuff them out. They begin toward Pelly, and a voice halts them; "No, he lives. Putnam must be allowed to carry this tale with him." Shinobu, Draxia, and Shalonda shrug. "Whatever," Shalonda says, "but where's the cash you promised us?" Draxia nods her head, "I will start a new, better life with it." Shinobu says, "So da ne!" Fraulein Bloodbrick laughs. "You think I have money? I spent my last penny on that stupid crepe machine! My guards abandoned us days ago!" She laughs again. "I've already got what I wanted; this place is up to our knees in blood! Can't you see it?! It'll never be clean!" The three surviving Walrus look at each other. "megabluck this, I'm getting out of here," Draxia says. "Mo ii yo!" Shinobu concurs. They leave the delirious woman on the floor of the main hall, silent but for her laughing and the sound of Pelly's pen. Then the sound of Pelly's pen stops. He closes his book. He looks at Bloodbrick. He pulls a transmitter out of his pocket. He places his finger on the button.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Congratulations to the Fine Young Walrus League (scum) for the win! Whitefang, Shadows, Dragonator, iamded, JimButcher, and Hinckley! You earned this win in this new game! While town leaned on night actions, you swept their feet and kicked them in the megablocks. Nice job, and I expect you to explain to them where they went wrong. Town, you had two full time players, Rufus/Pandora and KielDaMan (and maybe Sandy), and the rest of you seemed to just be sitting around waiting. Oh well, I'll get into it more in the post game Ultimately, it's just a game; on a finer level, it's hours of our lives spent on a fruitless journey because our teammates were too lazy to pay attention. It's up to you which perspective you have on it. More later when I'm not drunk (not drunk now, but working on it ) Afterlife writeboard: http://123.writeboard.com/2zueo83tp76v94dk PW: mental ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Here is a list of night actions/med abilities. White meant regular night actions I needed PMs for, purple meant passive abilities, and light gray meant no action. When meds were taken out,

Kelly sneaks out of an unnamed partner's room into the cold hallway. She is confronted by a familiar husky figure. "Ah," she says, "you look like the kind of slab of beef that could keep a girl warm at night." She giggles. The beast in front of her has nothing to say. Sidling up to him, she coos, "C'mon, you can't be like that, you've got a pulse, right?" The beast gives a reply in cold lead. Perhaps there was a trace of affection. Kelly's face has been left intact; her pretty, pretty face. Wait! What's that? There is a trace of life left in her! She's still moving! What's that she's saying? "My... name... was... really... Third-party (neutral) characters have their own win conditions as outlined in their roles. 2. Each day you will be able to vote to lynch a player. Voting should be done in the following format; Vote: Character (Player). Similarly, unvoting is to be done in the format; Unvote: Character (Player). The windows are now coated with a thick layer of snow, and nae a sound from outside can be heard. In the corridor, familiar boots echo toward the main room. And then, a familiar face enters the room. "Ah, Dr. Bovary, I have come for thee," she let's free of her throat. Bovary looks unimpressed. "I can't possibly see how anyone would lynch me. I've been perfectly helpful. I voted with the majority every time... I clearly stated that either Heng or Sunny were scum when we were debating them... Why, just today, I clearly stated I wasn't scum." "What more do you people expect?" The crowd rolls their eyes and and grumbles. "You ask me who to lynch today, and I say, 'Hey, what about Manuel?'..." She sighs. "You people, I swear." She walks up to the Fraulein. "Eh, whatever." At that, Bovary gets apathetically shot in the face.

Dr. Bloodbrick's Asylum II: Fraulein Bloodbrick
def replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
There really was no intent to carry the walrus thing when the first game was done way back when. But it was just so silly I very nearly called this game Rise of the Walrus. It wouldn't have been a bad idea. -

Poby sits on the sofa, talking to his fish, reflecting on their differences. "You know, it would never work. Despite how round your mouth is, I really dislike salt water." His fish doesn't reply. Along comes that old familiar padding. Poby perks up for a moment. "Oh, you look exactly the type to enjoy salt water. Could you tell me, what's it like? What's real brine like? Oh, I have so many questions. The truth is, I'm utterly cl~" Poby's head bursts like a cantaloupe in a microwave being tossed off a tall building. Poor Flanagan will have no more opportunities to talk to his fish. Actually, let's just say the walrus ate the fish. No more fish. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Periscope Perry has made her way to the atrium, to stare into the stream and wistfully ponder romance and Americana like it was a Disney movie. "One day my prince charming will come and take me away. I swear, I've never seen a poorer sense of patriotism in my life. Imagine, selling out your fellow citizens for a German! Man, it's like world war II never happened. Normandy beach and stuff, you know?" Her reflection nods in agreement. Behind her, she hears footsteps approach. BANG! The pistol is dropped on the ground. For Perry, there will be no more Fourth of Julys, no President's Day sales. She is deceased. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bloodbrick stares at her remaining patients. "I must say, my heart is racing." She bites her lip and smiles. "Now that you've removed that ignoramus da Booey, you are well on your way to your target." The shrinking crowd looks at each other. "Just think, in only one week, you've managed to far surpass those who killed my father. You should be proud." She stares hard at them. "Why, if only those who had been in the original Asylum had been so successful, you might not be in this position today." Imes da Booey runs through the hospital. "They think they'll convict me? More likely I blow these megablocks to high Hell!" He grunts as he moves, faster than he has in years. "A few well placed charges and BOOM! This whole place will collapse, taking them all with me!" He tucks some dynamite behind the plant. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The fraulein is feeling genuinely sprightly. "You realize that by tomorrow, there could be just ten of them left?" Yes, and it's a beautiful thing. I would love nothing more than for you to kill them all, but you must be fair. You must be true to your word. At the very least, this must play out as you have promised them. She turns to her side, and speaks in an icy voice, "I understand father. I will be honorable. I will do our name proud." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Imes is brought to judgment before the crowd. "Well, as per our promise, I have no choice but to kill you," she says with no particular inflection. Imes has a smug smile. "Naw, I don't think you'll be doin' that. No sir, I think you'll be letting me just walk out of here." She isn't fazed. "And why pray tell would I do that," she asks. Imes shows her the wireless transmitter he's carrying. "Because, I have this whole place rigged to blow. I press this button and all of us are a charred to a crisp. Got it?" SLASH "Wouldn't a person need hands and fingers to perform such a feat? No, I'm afraid you'll do no such thing. No, you'll only be dying." She cackles to herself. Imes, kneeling before her, becomes woozy. Do it! Kill him! He's a piece of human garbage! He deserves no less! With an elegant slice, Imes da Booey is relieved of the burden of existence.

his command of anatomy and reality has always been shaky, but in the continuity of Hawk & Dove, he can't even be bothered to keep it from page to page. It's worth noting and being angry about. The editors are asleep at the wheel from issue one. I remember buying his Captain America 15 years ago, smoking some pot with friends and killing ourselves laughing at how bad it was. In retraspect, he made a pile of money on that, and the scripter, Loeb, went onto make a pile of cash megablocking up the show Heroes. But the bottom line for me is that there were only a dozen or so backgrounds in that book, and in the 15 years since, he hasn't improved whatsoever. His art can make me laugh out loud in an Ed Wood way, so I'll give him credit for that.

Monty Pyrhon was also a big part of my childhood. Their projects were always hit or miss, but there were a lot more hits overall, and they indoctrinated me into the world of alt comedy. The Holy Grail (Tim and that rabbit were my favorites), the Meaning of Life, and the overall Flying Circus'. Then, Faulty Towers is quite perfect. Their 'mature' works, like A Fish Called Wanda, Erik the Viking, Palin's BBC docs, Terry Jones' BBC docs, it's all quite good. They were smart people to begin with, and though they are less funny now, they are all still interesting. Eric Idle, who I loved as a kid, has matured the poorest in my opinion. I'm not too interested in Spamalot. And check the history of Graham Chapman, he was pretty compelling; a closeted homosexual and a raging alcoholic. It created a brilliant sense of humor in him. And his funeral was really funny, as he would have wanted it Also, though there isn't much to compare Python to, certainly not Saturday Night Live, I'd recommend picking up all four seasons of Mr. Show. It is as close a successor to Python as anyone has done.

Medicine A Medicine B def Medicine C etc Failure to do either of these steps will make their selection void, and other players may feel free to make that medicine their selection. <players, feel free to police yourselves on this, since I both have a job and sleep> If this system is too confusing for you, simply do nothing and receive a random selection, with no penalties. <ALWAYS COPY THE WHOLE LIST> Day Six: 1. Poor Stanley Spussemmin stares out the window, pining for his precious moon. He has taken Charles under his wing, to love and nurture. After the decades spent in the hospital, he feels better to have someone to care after. Of course, comfort equals complacency, and complacency equals death. Once again, the padding of feet gently echo through the hospital as a walrus comes to meet his appointment. And that is the ungracious end of Stanley Spussimmen. No final trip to the sky, no lunar landing to celebrate a life unlived. At least his remains provide a slight entertainment for Charles, and in some way, Stanley has served a purpose. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In the atrium, the luscious young fraulein carries on a conversation of her own. Third-party (neutral) characters have their own win conditions as outlined in their roles. 2. Each day you will be able to vote to lynch a player. Voting should be done in the following format; Vote: Character (Player). Similarly, unvoting is to be done in the format; Unvote: Character (Player). Proxy voting is allowed, with the format Proxy: Character (Player) and Unproxy: Character (Player). No other format will be accepted. A majority vote is required to lynch a player. The player with the most votes will be lynched. In the case of a tie, the first to achieve their vote will be lynched. Voting is mandatory. Failure to vote will incur a vote penalty the following game day. 3. A game day will last a maximum of 72 hours. You may not vote in the first 24 hours.
